    Has a new owner almost two years now, planning permission has gone in several times to demolish the existing property & build multiple houses on the plot, but been refused. Probably due to it's gated community setting. What will probably happen is there will be an accidental fire, damaging the building beyond repair, then, in time, planning permission will go through with no problems... that's what usually happens. Look at what happened to Fyves Court, amongst others.

    those things in life I will just never understand. How can someone contact an architect, pay him for his time to design a beautiful mansion

      Gonna be hard hearted. Do you know how the original owners GOT the mansion? What if they got it by taking what didn't belong to them either? There are only a few ways in this life that you can get a mansion... And not everyone gets them by fair means. I'm sure Prince Andrew has a mansion... Would it bother you if it was abandoned and then inevitably looted and vandalised or the Vatican beautiful architecturally though it is... Vandalised a lot of cultures to get such a beautiful building...
      Dosent make it right or wrong, just people being people.

(Not sure I would want to buy an auctioned home, once owned by a violent gangster and then have to deal with him and his 'friends' when he is eventually released from jail.)

      Probably someone so much money they dont care and living somewhere else and just using mansion to store their cash because leaving it in a bank just looses buying power but because UK property always seem to go up in value least if its abandoned for many more years the value will still go up and you'll be able to sell for more than you paid for it.

The money ran low in the family and they didn't sell in time when it was beautiful and nice. Then years passed and it got worse. Now it's a demolition job. @@MinoritySquad my guess is that they probably did decide to sell the house (albeit well after the time when anyone would want to buy it had passed) and now due to the state of the place and the sheer size of it, and the high cost of materials at the moment, nobody wants to take on this project. there could also be issues with the land itself being worth substantially more than the house which sits upon it which would also work against the family trying to sell it.

    Crazy to see this over here just empty. That Porsche 997 Carrera Cab would be worth a fair few quid in good condition... What a shame. Both are around 2007/8 so I wonder how long they sat there for. Shame about vandalism, some people are the worst. Well done guys! Fascinating how humans are compelled to build a bigger nest for themselves than they could ever need. It's all about status, vanity, and showing the world what a 'winner' you are. No-one needs more than a few rooms for sleeping, cooking, relaxing etc. Everything else is a vanity project.

      It's called Bettering yourself, the human quest to strive for a better life and way of living; without it, we all would still be living in Caves and cooking the most recent catch over an open fire when we move on and improve the way of life there is going to be those who achieve what many would think wasteful. Still, it's only a step farther than the majority. Without those people, no one would try to do better because we would have no standards to go by. It may seem overkill to some, but it is only a form of advancement, and as seen here, a very hard advancement to sustain, as shown with the bankruptcy of the former owner. There are many who do not wish to just exist but to excel.

    • @rickenbacker472
      @rickenbacker472 Месяц назад

      @@robertehring2085 If you want to better yourself then I would suggest reading, socialising, philanthropy, engineering,or physical fitness etc. would be the way to do it. I realise it is man's instinct to dominate, and to seek validation from the wider group. These are animal urges that are hard to resist. They drive people to build little empires and create conspicuous displays of wealth. There is nothing very advanced about it. The instincts can be resisted with some clarity and self-restraint. I stand by my point that beyond a certain point large houses are nothing more than externalised ego. Ireland and the UK are full of such monuments to ego. They are a constant financial drain on the descendants, with 6 figure annual heating and maintenance costs. A never-ending drain on resources. It seems that in the US wood is more often used than stone, so at least they fall beyond repair over there quite quickly.
