This was so helpful, thank you so much! I was spinning or understeering every time but with your tips, I'm getting closer and closer to solid drifts! Good tutorial!
I think I ended up seeing this video a little bit too late in my drifting journey, I started learning on my T150 4 days ago, practising 1hr per day, and I feel this would have been useful on my first day but now I'm able to confidently hold a drift around most hairpins in most cars. I'll be working on more complex corners next. Nevertheless excellent video and if viewed at the right time I'm sure its very useful.
I learned drifting with a wheel on gt sport i didn't watch any tutorials just drifted and spin out, drifted and spin out. Best way to learn drifting is just training it
@@shirosutherland34 this is a late reply but the way i learned to drift was by lowering stability control 20 percent everytime i got confortable for example i was at 60% i got good at drifting at 60% then i lowered to 40 then 20 and so on til 0
Theres not really a “correct” speed to start a drift. With correct technique on entry you can slow yourself down while still carrying enoigh velocity into the corner 👊🏻
when im trying to drift my wheel not countersteer, and i need to spin the wheel to the way it should be countersteer and i feel a resistance in this way. what am i doing wrong?
Your FFB ( Force Feedback) settings are probably not very good. First of all, can you tell me what wheel you have? If it is something familiar to mine, then i think I could help you.
Really enjoyed your other upload on how to drift in AC and followed the link to this one :) I bought a Logitec g29 especially to learn to drift in this game ( which I bought after I got the wheel as I thought no point in getting it and using a controller). So you can see I really wanted to be able to drift :( Unfortunately after 21 hours trying (steem ingame time playing AC) I still am hopeless. I cant extend a drift round a corner ( i almost always spin out) If I manage a tiny drift I always spin out in the opposite direction when I try to straighten out at the end. I am going to go back and watch your earlier upload and try to follow your advice but I must admit I am almost ready to give up ! Ok I know I'm an old git, not as quick reactions as you young guys, but I just cant see what I am doing wrong. I downloaded a fairly open rectangle drift area track to practice on but cant even donut round a lamppost without it spining out :(
Good hear that you enjoyed these tutorials! Now, don't give up ! I believe that your biggest problem is throttle control. ( And of course you might be late in returning the wheel sometimes but that will improve with time). I'm guessing that your throttle inputs most of the time are either 100% or 0 %. Got to say that was my biggest mistake.... And in my first drifting tutorial for beginners I was doing it because I didn't know about it yet :D So don't learn throttle control from that video !! ( everything else is fine :) ) Now, try to modulate the throttle... At first you can press 100% but then immediatly release a little bit. ( Not fully but to about 70 % ). Then you can give it a bit more or less depending on the drift angle. Also try not to extend your drifting angle too much at the beginning of the corner. Because if you do so simply you will not be able to carry the drift all the way threw the corner. Try to hold "medium angle ". In other words, if you are drifting on 900 degrees of rotation, for example, try to hold angle in which you wouldn't have to countersteer more than 720 degrees. ( hopefully you understand what I said in this sentence :/ ). Check out my latest drifting video with bmw m4 because that video displays correct throttle control. ( Pedal inputs will be in the right side of the video ) Also if you could send me or upload on your channel a video of you drifting, then I could analize it further. Now I can't really say much more because I'm just guessing your mistakes :) But hopefully this will help you.
Thank you for replying and thank you for taking the time trying to help me. I've had more sucess in the last 2 hours of playing (since watching your tutorial ) than in the other 20+ hours i've played ! (Still no good though ). I can sometimes manage to get round the corners on the small inner oval (but not link them) and have once or twice managed the whole of the larger corner you were using in the first tutorial. I think the thing that has helped most so far was the advice about 1/4 turn of wheel when initiating the drift, I think i was being to excessive with the steering imput at the start of drift which was making my countersteer to late ( and slow) which was causing me to over-rotate and spin out ?? Still not too sure about it snapping back when I finish the drift but I can quite often stop it doing that now but dont know why . Perhaps its because it dosent seem so frantic while going round the corner ( with smaller imputs of the wheel) that I can catch it sometimes before it steps out ? After starting the drift I seem to be between 30% to 50% throttle ( I have the little guide up on screen) but still over rotate sometimes and dont know how to continue the drift and decrese the angle once its started to over-rotate ? I'm driving the BMW M3 E30 drift version so rerasonable power and no turbo lag. I have a joystick mapped as my handbrake but flappy paddle gear shift ( no seperate gear leaver) and 3 pedals ( so manual clutch) Have also been driving a real manual car for 30+ years and am a sucker for watching real drift videos /vlogs etc and hoping to get a little mx5 in the future to teach myself irl :) Im sure my nvidea software can capture game footage so will try to send you something or upload it to my neglected channel ok. Could I ask you for some more advice please? How do I control the drift once I'm in it ? Say if I'm drifting round a corner and starting to drift out to wide and will go off the track. I have watched some of your other videos and it seems you can drift any track in any car !! You cant possibly know every track so well that you know exactly where to initiate your drift or the perfect speed etc. How do you slow the car when you are already in the drift but keep it drifting (It seems if I touch the brake it stops the drift) I understand I need lots of practice but I dont know what I now need to practice . if you know what i'm trying to ask ? Thanks in advance
You don't need to know the track extremely well in order to drift smoothly... Of course when you know it will be better... I'm always slowing down with brakes, not aggresively though because then as you said the drift will end. It's hard to master it , so don't expect to master it quickly :) But I believe that you are not drifting on highspeed corners yet? In slow corners you just have to feel what is the right speed. It;s the same in real life too :) However if you just started playing assetto corsa it might be hard to feel when it is the right speed because obviously there are no G- Forces as in real life. It just sucks that so much of things comes down to muscle memory and just knowing how much to turn your arms and push your foot. Like these tips are great but the only thing that will actually allow you to drift is hours and hours of practice
Yes, you’re right…
need help doing im going but i doesnt stop sliding help!
Don't really understand what you mean...
@@drivingobsession7900 when i drift it keeps going when i don't want it to
@@Kadencabs hmmmm... Well you probably press throttle too much. But it would be nice to see some footage before giving advice... Maybe you could upload on youtube or somewhere else the footage of you drifting..?
@@drivingobsession7900 sure i'll post here and give link
You can go a little bit faster than usual in entries but you need to turn gently in the opposite direction of the corner and then turn hard in the direction of the corner, but it takes a bit of skills
Yes you're right :)
Most fun way to drift.

@@drivingobsession7900 yo dude thanks so much for theese settings, they're perfect for me
Great video but, this is more of a powerslide tutorial.
Yeah that's because I think it's better to start learning by doing powerslides
@@drivingobsession7900 The title doesn't say that tho
@@hokedo i thought so too man. gotta at least teach them to clutch kick into the drifts.
im learned whit mouse in roblox by making my own cars, scripts then started drift in asseto ;D
:))
MAP name plsss
Vallelunga, short version
Give me some tips
Most important tip is to have fun
So many "tutorials" in yt... So no clutch kick or hand brake? Foot brake even... gl
It's not necessarily needed to drift - there's lots of ways to go about it, but this video really helps with the basics, such as the speed you're entering the corner with, wheel lock, gas input etc. I think you first should learn to master the fine inputs before moving on to higher speed drifts and other techniques involving more steps :)
@@birddaddydetta well teach a weight transfer atleast. I can see you lift off gass just bit but no scandinavian flick. So you more or less force the drift with hp. Anyways I suck at drifting in ac. It is more natural irl :D
See this. This guy can teach: ruclips.net/video/XI29zrUBx4Q/видео.html
You make mistakes, you don't do them
Yep
video is stupid. legit can use clutch kicks at lower speed or
handbrake at higher speeds smh
Omg this is so wrong. Use that cluch in corners more buddy.
?
Florinn. Pretty late but the clutch kick is just an extra burden for the newcomers like me. You can still drift pretty well without using them
