Holding the turn-in for even a split second longer will cause a spin 6:30 - Feel the cars weight shift on the wheel. Catch it, then let it freely spin to counter steer 7:06 Gearing - Smashing in a lower gear kills the car and the length of the drift 8:30 - Always be in highest possible gear - You want your car to sound in lower pitch 9:10 - Shift down once you feel the loss of power (+ car straightening up) 9:24 - Don't necessarily need to GAIN speed all the time. for the people that use a g29 or g920 as I do. the FFB and self-aligning isn't that great with that wheel. So a lot of the time when you need to counter-steer. you have to give it a pull on your wheel to get your wheel to spin and align properly. otherwise, it's too slow and won't react properly and you'll spin.
to add to this comment it’s not a bad starting wheel if you’ve never done sim before, good quality for the price but that’s to me the only downside to the g29/g920
@@potatolime8351 yes the G920 is a great starter wheel for the buck. and for its price. it's expected to not be perfect. otherwise, why would you buy a more expensive wheel. so for anyone who reads this. don't worry that a G920 or G29 aren't good wheels. they are amazing. but they have some little flaws that you'll only notice when you're doing something else than normal racing.
you should use maximum FFB as he mentioned in the video BUT its sometimes not the steering wheels fault but the car itself... The car youre probably using is a car mod which sometimes have to low FFB. Lets say you use a 180SX and it has to low FFB, you should switch to other 180SX's that exist but make sure to use good quality mods because sometimes yeah they do look good but then the turbo sometimes suck or the torque is trash to low power and sometimes the interior totally garbage. I don't even have asetto corsa or a sim rig but this really helped a ton. Man this helped me so much. Thanks man, this helped me on for a horizon 5, and just took me like 3 days to learn how to drift. My drifts aren’t that clean, but I’m still practicing. Thanks for the help.
Same principles apply. The biggest point was that it doesn't take much to initiate. Any little nudge in that direction should be followed with instant and precise counter steer (much hard with a controller if no assists are available.) Games like Forza and GT have such assists built in, while games like Car X take such assists to an extreme. All to make it more accessible. No matter what the principle is the same: upset the car slightly and be ahead of it in terms of counter steer at all times. :D
I’m going from real life drifting 2 years now to the sim and I’m so used to feeling the car and doing these things without realizing i was doing them but when I get on the sim I didn’t even think about it that’s what the problem is. That is true, mainly because the G29 is gear driven while the T300 is belt driven which makes it smoother and faster, you'll have to adapt your driving style and kinda help the G29 when counter steering in order not to spin out, also try different settings out, it makes a big difference

I thought it was going to be harder to drift in AC than it is in Dirt Rally and Forza Horizon 5, but it's the easiest in my opinion. I still kind of struggle with transitioning out of the drifts smoothly(I have a G920, so the gears don't self-center fast enough and I have to force it), but otherwise I really like the feel of the force feedback in AC
Yeah on a wheel it's logic that drifting in asseto is easier since the game was made for wheels were fh5 wasn't it's made for controller with the option to use a wheel basically, apparently they did a good job this time but yeah definitely a controller game
iv watched loads of learn to drift videos and this is by far the best iv seen i have some understanding now where im going wrong thank you so much you get the whole hog like, commented, subbed and the bell
For catching the wheel, do you need to let it countersteer all the way then catch, or do you need to catch somewhere in the middle of the countersteer?
In an hour I went from being extremely frustrated and constantly spinning, to being able to control my line and connect drifts together. Awesome tutorial and it helped me so much. One thing to note is that the force feedback of the G920 and G923 is too weak to do all of the counter steering for you. You have to do a bit more of it yourself.
The clutch kick is an "added" technique to help you start the drift. It's not necessary to do around every corner, but it can help you with the angle depending on your approach

@@juankavegaa__ Hey! I managed to fix the problem. I thought assetto automatically turns off abs and stability control but that wasn’t the case. Try turning them off:D When you select your car and track there are weather options and track conditions and so on. There are also the abs the stability control, turn them off and also make sure you have the drivetrain diff power set to 100% (that means a welded differential, which also helps a ton) and the diff coast also set to 100%. Hope this helps!
now that i have begun using a wheel this guys drifitng impresses me like 10000x more wow!
Great tips!
i tried drifting today for the first time, with ZERO guidance. it was not good. i was actually laughing the entire time watching this, i think i got every single thing wrong. thanks a bunch
Ct I'm here hope you have a good day also I'm gonna learn from this because I also asked for a wheel with my playstation
Can you connect a wheel to a PS4 ? Or whatever ps you play on
@@Goosebag1 yeah
@@tyy6687 i never knew that
Man, this is literally the best drifting school video I ever seen! Lovely
I've been practicing for 2 months on controller. 1 month with stability control and 1 month without it and I'm reaching that point where not having a wheel is holding me back and I'm going to be getting one soon. Thanks
Have you got one yet?
I wish I had a wheel strong enough to be mostly hands free like you. gotta really yank that g29 around
I would like to see you drifting on a cog style wheel instead of a belt driven to see the difference
This fixed all my mistakes today was a rough day until this video, instant improvement
yep, just can't do it.
😭🤣🤣 wheel time and you will eventually get it down. Don’t give up!
My first time on a wheel and I was able to get down some decent slides within 2 hours
Nither can i hate this game
Its a grind. Took me 2 months to get comfortable
You can, just give it time. If you are on a Logitech wheel it’s gonna be considerably harder than if you are on a higher powered Thrustmaster or Fanatec.
Thanks! I literally improved instantly, no more fighting with the wheel!
When you let go of the steering wheel and it automatically counter steers... how do you know when to stop the counter steer? I tried it but always applied too much counter steer as I failed to catch and stop the steering wheel in time.
For me that skill came with practice, keep experimenting with the counter steer and u will get it
dont let go of the steering wheel
Great video... Please make one about the E_brake...how to connect it and when you used it... All best bro 👍
Turn left to go right.
Thank you so much , i was about to give up on drifting till i found this video , al i needed was the trottle control tip , i didnt squeeze the accel but now i do! and i can drift! thank you so much!
I just bought this two days ago on PlayStation 4 and it's a lot different than Car-X and need for speed which I'm grateful for but it sure is hard
bruhh i switched from asseto to carx for fun and now im better...?
@@tajson1488 I'm really liking the feel of AC, ive been a carx guy since 2016/17, I have it on mobile, Steam and ps,..I'm kinda over it. Altho I was thinking of trying to tune my card cars as I do in ac and see how it works
Even tho this video is 2 years old it still helped me, today is day 4 of me drifting eith wheel without using handbrake or clutch kickin like you said i can finaly get sidewayz.
Best tutorial❤
Am i the only one who doesn't actually have a stearing wheel, just watching him thinking that it will come handy?
If you get used one is way cheaper
This video is absolutely fantastic. I don't usually comment but this was so helpful
Dominic toretto :😧
C toretto:😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
4:20 what settings should be set so that the steering wheel reacts quickly in the opposite direction when drifting

dude ur actually amazing, this tutorial is the best drift tutorial i have found, thanks so much man i really wanted to learn how to drift because my friends like drifting so thank you for teaching me! and keep up the great work bro 👍👍
tbh i could get my younger cousin who just learnt how to read and he would do this and start drifting like you this was amazing! i can’t stop praising it 😅
It can be really hard especially if you’re self taught
I learned in 10 mins what other learn in a lifetime, Thank YOU !!!
Not sure if my steering wheel is any good for dirfting, I've got a g923.
You need to teach me how to tandem
Clutch and handbrake if you are chasing door to door.
a year ago i watched this and i still come back and watch it. after a year day after day practicing im pretty beastly at drifting on the sim now. thanks C
Nice
Watching this video helped me so much. Just got my wheel a couple of weeks ago and your tips are great for beginners!
Him: Has probably a $2k plus set up.
Also him: Uses annotations to show how to drift
By far the best tutorial video i've seen. thanks so much cant wait to try.
For catching the wheel, do you need to let it countersteer all the way then catch, or do you need to catch somewhere in the middle of the countersteer?
do i have a wheel
no
did i learned something new
yes
BEST Drift video, period. THANK YOU !!! WOW
Can we apply these to real life as well 😂
Should be able to, Assetto is very realistic and many pro drifters say the skills carry over pretty well
To some degree! But I'm no pro man, just make sure you wear a helmet! And gloves for extra drift power 😁😉
@@CToretto and more RGB lights too
@@xperte3678 Wait, that's for computers... You mean add some stickers for extra hp!
@@Rey-mx8pn I mean the handling and throttling increase with rgb lights😆
In an hour I went from being extremely frustrated and constantly spinning, to being able to control my line and connect drifts together. Awesome tutorial and it helped me so much. One thing to note is that the force feedback of the G920 and G923 is too weak to do all of the counter steering for you. You have to do a bit more of it yourself.
How about console 😂
Same concept just use the drift cars, my recommendation would be to get on pc asap it’s almost an entirely different game
Great tutorial I was really struggling. following this advice I have improved massively in just 1 hr
Got my wheel today and now everything you do is much more impressive
I never excepted i will saw a tutorial without voice and that video make me understand and learn better than any video outthere
Thank you so much really helped me start sim drifting back then I had a trash PXN v9 now up to a thrustmaster t300rs thank you so much dude
The clutch kick is an "added" technique to help you start the drift. It's not necessary to do around every corner, but it can help you with the angle depending on your approach
I was already doing decent but this made me even better! Thank you!
OMG! Thank you for uploading the video. I am learning how to drift as of today. Day 1, I will come back and let you know my progress. :-)
Thanks bro. I will practice this tips. Because you know, that mistakes you show us, was exactly what I was doing.
Thx a lot! Best video i have seen so far.
Between this sparco wheel is 🔥
The most amazing video for all beginners im excited to start trying to understand how to control my car on steering wheel
