- A friendly competition between two of my favorite customers. I had to upload this! You can see their passion for car audio.
Who do you think sounds the best? Focal vs Morel! Please leave your comments below.
Focal ES 165 KX3 K2 Power 6.5” vs Morel Hybrid 63.
They both sound amazing, I think to my ears the Morel sound is more appealing - but I can absolutely see the appeal of the Focal too. Truly seems like one of those rare cases where either option is perfect.

Focal are great in my experience I think they are bit to flat. They are very crisp and have a detail that other brands can’t match but they are way to flat because they lack mid base and lower growl you what I’m saying. I had focal flax in my truck and replaced them for audiofrog gb and they sound is fuller with more bass and more mids. I know I lost a bit of detail but I like the fuller sound better
Both sound awesome, but my ears like the Morel setup better.🔥🔥🔥Wondering the subwoofer setup too, love it.
they both sound good. ive owned BOTH. Morel = laid back not as detailed sound. Focal more detail brighter sound. pick your poison.
Laid back when loud sounds better to me than brighter when played loud. Morel for me. Morel=naturally produced and Focal =dynamically reproduced
Both manufacturers are great & arguably make some of the best speakers on the market, but we are comparing with different source & in different vehicles, so even identical make/model in each vehicle would sound different (different amp power, different EQ, different vehicle reflections, different sound dampening. different crossover etc).
I run Focal, but I have heard Morel's many times & they are equally excellent.
I’ve heard both I on that exact set of Focals and matching rears. If you want more laid back sound and natural= Morel. Forward and alive sound Focal. At this level it’s personal preference.
You should check out the Alpine Status. Just did a 3 way up front and 2 way in the rear. They’re 1k a set but the sound is perfection.
@@EvoSGooD installed a pair of Alpine Hdz-65c’s yesterday! Wow, incredible mid bass from the woofers also very clean highs.
@@Balgaz_speed yup, I’m still shocked the quality of the sound. HDZ-653 by far the best I’ve heard for that price point. I like the tweeter setup better then the usual 1” dome. Alpine tweeters look like 2” and sound clear at high volume unlike most tweeted.
They both sound really good.
Funny we sell both at my store and as I listen to both companies more and more. I like the focal. Focal seems to get louder and clearer the more you play them
I just listened to a comparison on RUclips between focal and hertz. While both sounded good in their own way I think as far as clear vocals focal was the winner. I currently have infinity Kappa series but I might try focal next time.
@@whatfreedom7 im not going to trash your infinity speakers, but i think youll be VERY happy with focal.
@@jamesstephenson2346 the kappas aren’t bad and actually sound great especially on acoustic or real instrument type music. Idk if they would be as good as those but they are definitely better than your typical pioneer,kicker etc speakers. Infinity isn’t what they used be to be either. I’d just like to see if something sounds better far as vocals,soundstage etc.
@@jamesstephenson2346 Infinity Kappas sound incredible! I'm not saying that they're better, but I heard a kappa system and it sounded amazing.
I had morel car speakers, components 6.5inch and 6x9 coaxials in mk3 golf, was really impressed with sound quality and power. Very good quality speakers, was well happy with what I had at the time.
Morels sound better
Morel Ultra sounds too harsh to me. I have it installed on my Innova it lacks details when I turn down the treble. But Focal Auditor that I have installed in my Ignis doesn't loose out on details if I turn down the treble.
Head units are factory unit in both. Kindly suggest to improve listening experience of Morel

Thanks for this. I have Focal in my E93 now (integration series) and I don't like the sound. Found out Morel makes an integration series that's more expensive. Will definitely be checking those out.

Just finished fabricating my A pillar pods. I see a new challenge in the horizon. My Morel CDM 880 will sound so sweet.
To me the Focals were brighter than the Morals. And the Morels midbass was better.
Morel sounds better. It's smooth and clear.
Morel highs are miles ahead but the Focal hits those low notes with breathtaking accuracy

YOU KNOW GUYS THIS CHALLENGE ISN'T CORRECT!!!! TO BE A FAIR CHALLENGE YOU KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME CAR SAME AMPS SAME DSP WITH THE SAME PERSON TUNING THE CAR'S AND THEN IT WOULD BE A FAIR CHALLENGE!!!!! AND THE PEOPLE STATING WHO SOUNDS THE BEST OVER THE INTERNET ARE JUST STATING WHO THEY WOULD PICK PRODUCTS WISE!!! CAUSE EVEN IF THEY HAD A $1000.000 SYSTEM THEY COULD NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EITHER ONE OVER RUclips UNLESS THEY HAD DETERMINE RUclips BIT RATES AND THEN DETUNE IT. IT WOULD HAVE TO BE DETERMINE BY INDEPENDENT PEOPLE WALKING BY IN YOUR VIDEO AND ASK THEM TO LISTEN TO THEM BOTH USING SAME MUSIC IN BOTH THEN LET THEM SECRETLY POST THERE VOTES AND WHEN YOU GET A EVEN NUMBER OF PEOPLE UNVEIL THE POST!!!! THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO SEE!
The systems were both tuned and installed by the same shop. Both cars have the same DSP. You have a point there when it comes to the same vehicles, but these guys are a couple of my best customers. None of it was planned.

Absolutely the morels sound better in the video. Although it might sound different in real life.
I had 2 sets of of focal krx some time ago, was not impressed. Dumped them for some Hertz.

The Focal's are bright bright and the Morel sounded full and better balanced, and that's with the guy saying the Focal bass was heavy (I love bass, so I'd never agree with such feedback :-P). I also give it up to the BMW because the stock 4" locations suck.
Focal has different lines. These are brighter and require dsp tuning (as all good stereos should be). Focal is absolutely known for excellent midbass, so hes right on, i guarantee. Morel tends to be lifeless, although some certainly call it "laid back".
Man they both sound great, nice and clear/clean....BMW for me though 👌👍💯

The question will be and has always been, which company manufactures the most sonically capable product that can create and produce the most accurate and replicable frequencies through the ENTIRE range of human hearing. The comment of “it depends on the music you prefer” is ridiculous. As that can be tailed within the DSP to suite. Every speaker created tries to do this the best. So which ones can accomplish this the best? In my opinion that currently gos to the JL Audio C7’s. From 20Hz to 20,000Hz there isn’t a better speaker system. I feel Focal is right there with the C7’s, until the bridge between miss and highs comes into play. I feel their teeters are too bright and there is a gap where the mids tailer off too early and the highs begin too high. This isn’t a digital sound correction issue as much as the way the speaker themselves are engineered. Morel is outstanding and in my opinion the model supremo’s are also right there as one of the best. However I find the expense isn’t justified within the lows to mids while agreeing the piccolo is the best tweeter on Earth. But the wide range of the tweeter isn’t necessary if you have the mids doing the job correctly. But in all reality this is splitting hairs here. JLC7’s Focal Utopia or K series, and Morel Supremo are the 3 best speaker systems money can buy. The JL’s are an active system and do not have crossovers. They will need a dsp no matter what to handle the crossover points and frequency separation duties. Fine by me, as JL has an Amp line that has their DSP built into the amp with all the software. One stop shopping at its finest. The JL Audio C7 3 way system with their Amp specifically meant for them, are the best car audio system ever made and honestly that’s that.
The Morels sound WAY better. You can tell by how full the recording is. The Focals sound thin and bright while the Morels sound full and balanced. However this is limited by the recording of the video and there are so many other aspects to consider like EQ, placement, door treatment, etc. etc. It cant be a full comparison until all things are equal.
Well to be honest the BMW was not really ready that day. With a loaner JVC entry level Head unit. Next time I will definitely bring out the RTA.
I do not agree at all. The focal has a much brighter, clear and detailed sound.

I'll have to rewatch the video but the BMW with Focal killed it. The Toyota was good as well, but just wasn't quite there for me.
I'm sure if i could hear them in person it might be a different story.

My focal sound better
I had focal
Flax on my truck and they sound very clear but lacks miss big time, they sound to crisp but to flat. I replaced them
With audiofrog gbs 3 way and they so perfect
my ear drums and focal dont mix
Both great speakers but the Morel are definitely more musical, but for kids that want it in ya face loud the Focal can do it.
It's like comparing a US Muscle Car to an Audi V10 the both get you from A to B but IMO the Audi is just a better way to go.
