@@elih9700 my pc is still running on a normal 1080 and because i only play in 1080p on a 13year old monitor (that damn thing just refuses to break...i want an upgrade XD ) i can still play pretty much all new games without issues.

@@elih9700 Nah it came out right during the crypto mining craze and was way more expensive than it's worth, and all of them have been the same ever since. The last GPU that was worth anything was the 970. Still plays AAA games today.

@sometingwong2733 It's the heads in the circles above the armies and in the bottom left for units and lords, etc that move rather than stay static. 3D, moving porthole heads have a greater strain on the PC.

I got my 5.1 surround sound MANY years ago to enjoy the cavalry and elephant charges in M:TW. I still remember the hair-raising feeling the first time I zoomed in ahead of my elephant charge and heard them thundering up behind, then around me and in to the enemy lines.

The 1080 Ti was a legendary card. Probably the last we'll ever get.
Something to keep in mind, Intel finally released a statement about the instability on the 13th and 14th gen CPUs. For your CPU it's, according to them, purely a voltage issue (the 13900s have other issues besides). By mid-August they're going to have a patch for that but it'll require a BIOS update which you'll probably want someone with the right knowledge to handle. Otherwise it's going to be seemingly a literal 50/50 chance your CPU will get fried over time.
seriously? you think flashing a BIOS requires someone with "knowledge"? you just download the BIOS file for the correct motherboard from motherboard manufacturer's website, format USB stick to FAT32, put that BIOS file on the stick... then reboot into BIOS, go to BIOS/UEFI flashing utility, select the file from the USB stick, flash the BIOS and you're done... super easy.

Most motherboards have double bios and easy update these days, it is easy if you follow the instructions
@@Dex4Sure "you just" followed by a multi-step process that requires engaging with a menu outside of the operating system that most people, including a portion of people who play pc games professionally, have never seen or knew existed, and also runs a risk of bricking your computer if you do something stupid. Easy!

I was suprised when watching your live stream with how slow the campaign map was for you and did believe a popular streamer like yourself needs to have the best pc to make the experience best for everyone. this will literally save you hours of loading time and just more joy. which makes an expensive setup worth every penny!
I do wonder if something was wrong with his old PC (failed thermal paste or something) because he'd say it sounded very loud while looking like a slideshow, so I wonder if it was overheating and throttling. The new computer is obviously awesome, but his old PC shouldn't have been that bad.
@@wolfie54321 Streaming also takes a lot of resources, it's probably because of that. But yeah it may have had other problems, it wasn't brand new.

My previous was even worse than your old one, so when I updated one year ago, it was unbelievable!
As i mentioned in a previous video - As impressive as the total war engine is for being able to handle so many individual models, it does have its limits. Physics, for example, uses the CPU. Try looking at task manager while you do that 4x unit scale battle, im sure that your CPU wont be at 100% usage despite the gaming being choppy. At some point, the games engine does basically just shits itself and getting more raw power in your hardware can only get you so far as you approach that point. You basically reach a point where the game is more likely to crash, than your PC is likely to be the limiting factor.
yes, it is a shame that a lot of these engines are quite broken in engame situations.
played a Helman Ghorst zombie blob campaign a few weeks ago and some battles were barely playable.
Stellaris is anotherone of those titles. Endgame has abysmal perfomance and we just accept it as a given thing XD
i hoped tww40k would get a new engine, but i fear it gets another iteration of the current one with all its perfomance and ai problems.
Its actually insane how much clearer and smoother it looks now.
I remember getting a new PC about a year after TWW3 came out. It made a world of difference since I could actually play on ultra unit scale and turn effects on again. The quicker load times and fewer crashes were also a godsend. Glad you finally got the new PC Legend.
i bought mine to play tww2 on 1080p/60fps/ultra.
last month i upgraded to a 4k screen, a new cpu and a new gpu to finally play tww3 on 4k/60fps/ultra :)
but to be honest, there is a lot of stuttering on ultra unit scale that is CPU bound and no machine today can handle it (or CAs engine is broken for Helman Ghorst zombie blobs ;) )
at the moment i am thinking about switching unit size to high again.
lets hope tww40k will get a new and better engine.

Congrats on the new computer arriving. I actually replaced my own rig this January, which was also a month late on delivery, it was supposed to arrive in December. Been watching and enjoying your content for years, and was kind of surprised when you mentioned your old PCs specs earlier this year compared to the PC I was then still waiting for; I’d just assumed you’d had a better rig and long battle load times was the norm and more a limitation of the Total War engine.
It was astonishing watching how fast battles loaded from the campaign map, which is something I’m looking forward to seeing you enjoying in future live streams.👍

I recently bought a PC with a 14900k and a 4080 super, and it was a HUGE leap in my abilities.
Only problem is that the GPU is a jet engine when running above 50 percent, but I can deal with it for most things!
That loading time...... "gggaaaaaaah" 3-4, maybe 5 times faster than mine!!
Wonder how it looks in campaign turn 50 ish, with just a cluster flugel of different units trown together in an endgame crisis. I7-8700k is not cutting the cheese. Got a 3080, but not really helping with loading times.
And of course love to see turn loading times.

However, I'd probably have similar settings to Legend, just not as good.

Hey Legend i bought a new computer recently as well and also got a 4080 super in it too. Before i got a 1080. And i reqlly gotta say that it made the game way more fun since i can finally play it without lagging. Really happy for you Legend!

8:11 look at that shadowed red bar on the gun troops, more than half the units total HP. I didnt even know goblins could do that much damage that quickly, and i've always been an advocate for the unit.

4080 super, 64gb 6000mhz ddr5 ram, 14900k intel cpu. But that was before intel cpus started failing. I would recommend going with amd 7800x3d cpu instead. And 32gb ram, he went with 64gb because he plays and streams at the same time 32gb is more than enough for just gaming.

Nice! I have the same RTX 4080 and it makes TWW3 run perfectly smoothly even on all graphicsl options maxed out. You should definitely try out how the game looks with shadows set to extreme, and also turn on depth of field and screen space reflections. The RTX 4080 will have no problems with that. I'm running this at 1440p with an average 107 FPS in the battles with everthing maxed out.

I have done a fair amount of these big custom battle tests with various cpu/gpu combos and graphical settings, and I find once you get into the 25-30k+ unit mark it becomes limited by something not your computer- I think its an engine-limitation at that point where most likely a more powerful pc would not make it smoother. I would hit a limit of units on the field then try upgrade components yet no better peformance to be seen.
Seems to be the same as in wh2, wh3 feels like the same engine in that regard, just with better graphics
correct me if im wrong but i think the curse of da big bad moon spell doesnt have friendly fire so you can cast it on blobs near your units as much as you want
So I finally picked up Warhammer with practically zero TW experience save for like ... Maybe an hour? On empires? (Year or so ago) And some vids on RUclips from creators like you.And a few days ago i finished my first campaign as the dwarves. Thorgrum (sorry if botched name) on hard difficulty. I believe i handled myself well. Did most if not all battles manually to learn. And i had my fair share of mistakes like skill point issuing, army location management, unit selection etc. but nothing too crazy. Hell i even beat archon with a 4 stack (endgame crisis)with one dwarf army (cheesed using manual control of flame cannon and kept shooting army blobs on their side as iron breakers held). So my main question is when i come back to the dwarves again eventually for a legend campaign. What is a good overall army for most situations? For context im playing WH 1. Want to try and get through all of them before i get to 3.

the upgraded graphic settings are nice in itself, but the upgrade from 1080p to 1440p is like waking up from a fever dream..
