I used to love Tyler Perry plays and many of his movies until it dawned on me one day while watching, that Madea jacking up and misquoting the word of God was not funny as I initially thought, but it was him actually being disrespectful towards God and ultimately mocking God. Then I noticed the “Christians” in Tyler’s stories were mocked and made to look stupid while the wisdom that came forth actually came from Madea who was not the Christian in the room. Lastly I took note that all of Tyler’s television series were completely sinful and it became evident that he only used the church to launch his Hollywood career. SMH. Many of these celebrities like Oprah and Tyler hide behind philanthropy appearing to want to help our communities when in reality the entertainment they provide helps to destroy it.

I never watched an episode but it shocked me how many church leaders (at the church I was in attendance to) were so deep into that show! I remember a few of the deaconesses literally rushing a meeting so they could get home to watch Empire!! 😮
Same with me. However, I realised after praying for God to get rid of an urge, it usually went away. I'm talking about lust, glotteny, quick anger, worldly music and just recently movies. It's a journey but try fasting, prayers and read Matthew with a focus on what Jesus Christ was saying. May God bless you on your journey.

I have NEVER watched ang of Tylers TV Series, except Meet the Browns when it first came on. I got into the plays, Madea movies, but now I dont watch them. Everyone talks about Sisters and Greenleaf and his other shows, but, Ive never had a desire to watch them, thank God.
I also used to be an avid movie goer, and as the Lord has been working on drawing me closer to him, my desire to go to the movies has dwindled to nothing. And I know for sure that I am growing in my faith as a believer. I am no longer desiring the things of this world that I used to like. If it ain't Holy, I don't want it in my life. Trust me y'all, there is nothing in this world that can compare to the joy and fullness I feel in Jesus Christ. He is more than enough to satisfy me, in all ways. I love him dearly for his sacrifice on Calvary.

Yes! I had started watching Abbott Elementary in 2022 and I liked it at first…what started to irk me was seeing a rainbow flag in their break room. And in another episode, Janine was asking Jacob about a date he had. It became annoying…every time I turned around, they seemed to be constantly “pushing” that topic.

At one point I was watching power and felt the conviction so I had stopped. When the newest season came out, I felt like the commercials were calling me. I had to seriously pray. I was like uh nooo lol. I had to fight the urge to not watch the 1st show. But just like that.. the feeling left. The resist was hard but my Spirit was at peace
It was the same for me.. I watched Power & all of the spinoffs, but as I felt more convicted.. I had to let em go. I used to regularly talk about episodes with coworkers & started to look like an oddball for not keeping up anymore.. but I'll be that oddball for the Lord.. ☝🏾😎

Hey,l don't know her answer,but l can say it's all about pleasing God,like in my case,l used to listen kpop music,and dramas,But ever since l received Christ (surrendered to Him)l just knew it wasn't pleasing God to do that,so l just had to stop,and now,l exchanged the listening to kpop music,to worship Korean/Chinese songs ie_Agapao worship team and so on...also watching,from Korean and chinese dramas,to "The church of God Almighty movies"...and actually they have songs too,which are Soo nice,and in some way,they too(their songs replaced the love l had to rnb secular music or so,so yeah,...l guess you too,Surrender to God,He will help you through by finding something better,for it will not only please Him,but will also be good for you,for l know,whatever pleases Him,is actually meant for our own good,...for that's His nature..anyways all the best

I was watching a little bit of Girlfriends the other day and the Holy Spirit was so heavy on me, I didn't even feel right watching it. I used to watch Girlfriends a lot in my late teens and early 20s, now since getting close with God, watching it felt like I was eating something bitter. I had to change it quickly.
Girl. I know the CHI needs to be on that list. I was definitely into that show and I had a bad dream once that involved some themes in the show. It disturbed me. I woke up like what was that about? And clear as day I heard the Holy Spirit say “it’s that show you watch”. I knew exactly what Holy Spirit was talking about because that was really the only show I was really into. I stopped watching and I had to repent.
God definitely placed this on your heart. I think he is really calling his chosen out from among them. That scripture along with Zephaniah 1:7 “he has consecrated those he has invited” has been heavy on my heart along with all of Ezekiel 8..even through this God confirmed that I have to give up Law and Order:organized crime. Detective Stabler was my favorite..and also really give up Abbott. What you said about culture vs. kingdom was beautiful. This has been an uncomfortable journey giving up so much of what I watch, listen to, even makeup brands, etc. For all of those struggling, God is for you and I believe he uses videos like this to show us that other brothers and sisters are too being made uncomfortable but it’s okay. Holiness has a cost and we can pay it now on the other side of eternity. Praying for endurance for us all as we run the race marked out for us.
The bottom line is anything Secular, shows, music etc does not honor God in any way shape or form. These shows are for people in the World not the word. I reached out to Netflix and Hulu to add a Faith based categories and hopefully it does happen! but as Christians let’s keep advocating for Faith based shows and films to honor Christ
I can't even watch Netflix these days. Aside from occasional movies here and there and documentaries but goodness, some people can BINGE... I used to be that person that binge and you don't realize the time wasted that comes from that. It's pretty frightening

A year or so ago God kept pulling me away from watching Bel-Air. I didn’t know why but I would always feel a spirit of anxiety trying to creep back in my life whenever I did watch it. It was almost like something was trying to push me back into what I experienced in high school which was anxiety, depression, insecurity, lust, and fornication. The show quickly became distasteful to my spirit.

Man before I got saved I watched Insecure and was on the last season on Netflix. After I got saved, a couple weeks later I got on an episode and just could NOT finish it. It was sitting so uncomfortably with my spirit. That was confirmation that the Holy Spirit was working in me. I was no longer comfortable in sin or anything that had sin.

In the spiritual world, when you sell your soul your eyes will have no sockets, meaning your soul and spirit belongs to the devil now. It's honestly the realization that we are no longer of the world that's the frustration. And majority of the entertainment is worldly. But these videos are not to "put us in a box".. they are merely to bring awareness to the prevalent sin in our culture. When we see this information, always go back and submit it to the Holy Spirit. He will give you guidance on how to process and He will even suggest alternative entertainment options! (And if you're feeling overwhelmed, don't watch these videos for a while). The sanctification process comes from the Holy Spirit not from influencers such as myself. I'm just planting (or watering) seeds. 🙏🏽
@Simply_Deanna I'd also recommend praying to ask the Lord to lead you to Holy Entertainment. There are some good sermons on RUclips. I watch Jerry Flowers, Redefined TV, as well as look for faith based movies. The Chosen (based on Christ) or The Bible (Chronicles the entire Bible). I'm so serious about this. The Holy Spirit will lead you and speak to you immediately about what you should be watching.

I felt the conviction with Abbott Elementary. After some episodes, i felt so uncomfortable. I asked the Lord if there is anything about that show He didnt like. And Jacob came to my mind.

Yes! I had started watching Abbott Elementary in 2022 and I liked it at first…what started to irk me was seeing a rainbow flag in their break room. And in another episode, Janine was asking Jacob about a date he had. It became annoying…every time I turned around, they seemed to be constantly “pushing” that topic.

At one point I was watching power and felt the conviction so I had stopped. When the newest season came out, I felt like the commercials were calling me. I had to seriously pray. I was like uh nooo lol. I had to fight the urge to not watch the 1st show. But just like that.. the feeling left. The resist was hard but my Spirit was at peace

Hey,l don't know her answer,but l can say it's all about pleasing God,like in my case,l used to listen kpop music,and dramas,But ever since l received Christ (surrendered to Him)l just knew it wasn't pleasing God to do that,so l just had to stop,and now,l exchanged the listening to kpop music,to worship Korean/Chinese songs ie_Agapao worship team and so on...also watching,from Korean and chinese dramas,to "The church of God Almighty movies"...and actually they have songs too,which are Soo nice,and in some way,they too(their songs replaced the love l had to rnb secular music or so,so yeah,...l guess you too,Surrender to God,He will help you through by finding something better,for it will not only please Him,but will also be good for you,for l know,whatever pleases Him,is actually meant for our own good,...for that's His nature..anyways all the best

I was watching a little bit of Girlfriends the other day and the Holy Spirit was so heavy on me, I didn't even feel right watching it. I used to watch Girlfriends a lot in my late teens and early 20s, now since getting close with God, watching it felt like I was eating something bitter. I had to change it quickly.

Girl. I know the CHI needs to be on that list. I was definitely into that show and I had a bad dream once that involved some themes in the show. It disturbed me. I woke up like what was that about? And clear as day I heard the Holy Spirit say “it’s that show you watch”. I knew exactly what Holy Spirit was talking about because that was really the only show I was really into. I stopped watching and I had to repent.

That scripture along with Zephaniah 1:7 “he has consecrated those he has invited” has been heavy on my heart along with all of Ezekiel 8..even through this God confirmed that I have to give up Law and Order:organized crime. Detective Stabler was my favorite..and also really give up Abbott. What you said about culture vs. kingdom was beautiful.
This has been an uncomfortable journey giving up so much of what I watch, listen to, even makeup brands, etc. For all of those struggling, God is for you and I believe he uses videos like this to show us that other brothers and sisters are too being made uncomfortable but it’s okay. Holiness has a cost and we can pay it now on the other side of eternity. Praying for endurance for us all as we run the race marked out for us.

A year or so ago God kept pulling me away from watching Bel-Air. I didn’t know why but I would always feel a spirit of anxiety trying to creep back in my life whenever I did watch it. It was almost like something was trying to push me back into what I experienced in high school which was anxiety, depression, insecurity, lust, and fornication. The show quickly became distasteful to my spirit.

I noticed they always make the most sinful characters, the most likable. They could be murderous, sexually deviant, truly evil but since they offer comedic relief or do a lil good here and there, they make the viewers love them. Man before I got saved I watched Insecure and was on the last season on Netflix. After I got saved, a couple weeks later I got on an episode and just could NOT finish it. It was sitting so uncomfortably with my spirit. That was confirmation that the Holy Spirit was working in me. I was no longer comfortable in sin or anything that had sin.
Baby holy spirit is intentional because Martin was my #1 and recently tried watching it again.
I know; All the queens men & Sistas are forbidden which are Tyler Perry shows. And Empire. These are and/were my favorite.

I remember back in mid April, I had a strange/eerie dream about BMF and the cast didn’t have no eye sockets. In the spiritual world, when you sell your soul your eyes will have no sockets, meaning your soul and spirit belongs to the devil now. During the dream, I was watching BMF and in the scenes their eyes weren’t even in the sockets. I woke up while my heart beating fast. That showed me a sign to stay away from it and their IG pages. 💯

I just ask because, at times, seeing all these “don't do this, don't watch this” can feel a little frustrating and like we’re in a box. It's honestly the realization that we are no longer of the world that's the frustration. And majority of the entertainment is worldly. But these videos are not to "put us in a box".. they are merely to bring awareness to the prevalent sin in our culture. When we see this information, always go back and submit it to the Holy Spirit. He will give you guidance on how to process and He will even suggest alternative entertainment options!
(And if you're feeling overwhelmed, don't watch these videos for a while). The sanctification process comes from the Holy Spirit not from influencers such as myself. I'm just planting (or watering) seeds. 🙏🏽
@Simply_Deanna I'd also recommend praying to ask the Lord to lead you to Holy Entertainment. There are some good sermons on RUclips. I watch Jerry Flowers, Redefined TV, as well as look for faith based movies. The Chosen (based on Christ) or The Bible (Chronicles the entire Bible).
I'm so serious about this. The Holy Spirit will lead you and speak to you immediately about what you should be watching.
