  • One of the first questions any first time disc golfer will ask or should ask is, how do I grip the disc? I know it was one of the first questions I had and also that the way you grip the disc is critical to how well you are able to throw said disc! This video breaks down the ideal grip for the backhand power shot, I hope y'all find it useful! Let me know what tip you want to see next!!!

    These tips definitely helped me add a ton of distance. I need to work on my form help me take down my first Ma3 tournament with my lone star bag would love to see a putting video from you. I was out driving everyone on the field and they were calling me a monster, but I couldn’t putt to save my life

      That is awesome to hear Austin, music to my ears! I will definitely be dropping a putting video at some point. Though putting is probably the most individual part of the game and mostly comes down to getting the repetition in and having the right frame of mind!

    Any advice for us with shorter fingers? When i libe the disc up between my pointer and middle finger and then wrap my fingers around. My pointer finger tip barely covers the bottom of the wing on a 7 speed driver and cant curl under at all to reach the inside of the rim. My pointer finger feels pretty useless and i am wondering if it is also in the way.

      I think as long as it is providing a little bit of squeeze on the disc and the middle finger and thumb as well as other fingers are also providing pressure it should be enough to get some good power. It shouldn’t be in the way though even if it’s not quite wrapped all the way under!

    I’ve recently discovered I definitely was not holding strong enough. A lot of early releases and no SNAP. Really focused on this today after watching this and noticed a HUGE difference. Thanks Connor!

    I use a three finger power grip. My pinky finger is way shorter than the rest of my fingers.

    what i never see with these grip video's is addressing the actual size on ones hand. I have a large hand..and craming all 4 underneath that radius is sometimes very unconfortable..i e just not enough room for my fingers. thanks for the video!

    Coming from someone with smaller hands. Me and one of my buddies where talking today and you’ve actually met him, his names Bill Bittick, but anyways we where talking about the grip and I told him to punch with his index and thumb first to load the tension in those fingers and then wrap your other 3 fingers. Of course you do need to focus on your nose angle but we’ve found we get more snap and spin

    That "pinch" between the index finger and thumb made a big difference for me. Took me from 350 - 425 with my Lone Star Curl.

    • @Christopher-hh8iq
      @Christopher-hh8iq 7 месяцев назад +1

      that Curl is a cheat code. I got one in my Christmas bundle and the first time I ever threw it I put is 346'. For reference, that is about as far as I have ever thrown. I think I got over 360' once during a field session. But on course, for a scoring round, the Curl was instant PR.

    Love this. Throw upward trajectory with nose down is difficult. I find it easier to throw low line drives but can’t get the big distance that way. Will try this

    • @ConnorOReillyDG
      @ConnorOReillyDG  7 месяцев назад +1

      Low drives are more forgiving on the course when you miss the angle for sure!

    Thanks so much for the breakdown. I was a bit off, likely contributing to my noise up throw. Can’t wait to try this out.

    Sound balance is a little weird, voice is only to the left, music to the right. Also, the Bonapane grip keeps the index finger on top of the disc, over the thumb.

    when i grab it the way you say should the disc be hugging my hand as i lock in the fingers which put a lot pf pressure on the skin kind of folding over the palm skin a bit or the disc off the palm as i grab it so the palm skin isnt moved?

    • @ConnorOReillyDG
      @ConnorOReillyDG  7 месяцев назад

      Ideally the disc should sit nice and snug into the palm without much airspace!
