You have to remember a lot of cgi companies Hollywood uses are not based in the United States, and many non US countries stayed locked down for a lot longer than the states did. So while Hollywood could film scenes, they couldn't fulfill all their cgi requirements. Hence the original guys comment. Of course some background guys are cgi. But cgi takes time, and the more of it you have, the more time it takes artists to create it. Hence why this fight scene ended up being so much smaller. The cgi budget on this film had to be tightened as a result of the pandemic. That's not an opinion of mine, it was big news a couple years ago when they were wrapping up filming this and putting it into post production.

I never get why these comic villain goons have to use these comic "guns". Normal guns with normal bullets would have ended this fight in 2 minutes for the bad guys.

I wouldn't call using stun button over even a basic sword rational. Just use tear gas, and bring even a hunting rifle. Seriously, anything but non-lethal. They're out gunned despite futuristic having technology.
