    I think the perfect solution is old Rex/Bly arms etc but new legs as the old double joints don’t get much more than single and it stops proper kneeling poses

    The weathering on some clones doesn't really look that good, take for example Wolffe. That being said, I do prefer clones being shiny, it gives us a blank canvas and gives us the chance to customize it to our liking. That's just me though.
    Congrats on the 10k subs

    It’s not just clones. The black series overall reduced paint apps around that 2020 timeframe. Right around that time, BS figs started representing Detail with just more colored plastic that is unpainted and sculpted detail in the plastic itself.
    Paint apps at the level of some of the early clones you showed like Fox, or Rex, now bumps figures to deluxe status. Especially if they also are receiving face print paint apps. That’s the economic reality of the entire line for the last few years on all figures, not just clones

  • @KaminoanCustoms

    The problem with Black Series clones is they designed the new mold without a solid reference. Proportions are all over the place, with the insanely long torso and oversized helmet. The incorrectly modeled (helmet literally doesn’t match any official helmet anywhere). They need to take a breath, and use their resources at Lucasfilm to make a definitive clone mold that accurately reflects the ROTS/AOTC movie proportions and details with an updated articulation scheme. Also stop with the removable helmets because they look awful compared to some of the beautiful solid helmet sculpts like the death watch mando/ OG clone helmets. I’m not even concerned about paint apps until they can make a decent sculpt en par with the rest of the line.

    • @Lukenessmonster

      I believe the reference was the Clone Wars, It has more of an animated look rather than realistic.

    I'd want all the clones on the new new Appo/ Phase 2 bod, but make the knee, elbow and shoulder armour more durable. Ali Express do.
    Yes they should all have better paint apps. Hasbro charge more bt do less.
    Re: the chipped paint. You could say he clened his armour after it got scuffed. I've used Vallejo wash paint to add dirt or carbon scoring. If you don't varnish it you can remove it.

    I just realized that troopers basically have to take off their entire suits just to take a piss. I'd probably just piss myself and keep on blastin'!
    Good points Luke.... I kinda miss the old mold myself.

    Rex/ bly torso and arms or even hawk/jump trooper torso and arms with new legs and the old helmets would be my ideal. I really take issue with the proportions of the animated style bodies, mostly the small and low shoulders and the thin and long torso. I fee l like the old molds, while limited in articulation, have a much greater presence due to the heroic proportioning. Plus the articulation problem was half way solved with bly and rex anyway, adding new legs to their mold would resolve the articulation issue fully while granting us better proportioning and a more realistic look.

    I love the 2020 Clone body with no weathering. Most of the time I do indoor dioramas with my figures and in the real military while on garrisson uniform must be clean so I think it applies to my troopers as well. If I want them to have weathering ill just black wash them myself.

  • @darthclueless9372
    @darthclueless9372 Год назад +1

    I don’t think the two are related. They updated the body , went with a cheaper plastic and cut down on paint apps in order to increase profits. Even if we were getting the same old molds, they would have eventually cut back on deco

    I don’t care about weathering at all, it’s so easy to do yourself, and I’d rather have the option to not have it. The old clones are really visually accurate but I want my clones to be able to kneel, so I love the new body. I think the proportions are off ever so slightly and the helmet is just not as good. They really should just take a shot at sculpting it based off of the live action costumes they’ve produced for the recent disney+ series’ I think. I’m fairly certain both the old and new figures use PVC limbs with ABS torso’s, but the limbs on the newer clones use a higher elastomer content that I’m guessing helps with those smooth acetal disc inserts they use for the joints!
    I think the new new clone with the bicep swivels + a custom helmet will be perfect for me though

      @enrique6335 2 месяца назад

      This has been an issue with Hasbro for years now. Admittedly for most of their existence, clone troopers have existed in animation form so Hasbro seems to be basing their molds and paint applications on them, however their figures are clearly meant to be realistic representations so we are left with this live action/animation hybrid

  • @Vetto_77
    @Vetto_77 Год назад +1

    the rex body was really good, would have love to see more clones with that mold. the new body is more fun to pose but looks a bit strange, has less elbow articulation than the rex body, and has the weird animated looking helmet. people says it has better proportions but the torso looks a bit too long and the og clones are supposed to have the non-reallistic proportions of the first mold, with the neck sealed helmets, because they were all cgi and its part of their charm, like the messy stormtrooper helmets in the original trilogy, thats part of their charm. So basically the perfect clone trooper would be a sculpt similar to the first mold (accurate to the prequel movies) with the articulation of the new one so its more fun to play with, helmets should be interchangeable heads to keep the helmet neck seal wich just dissapeared in new star wars media (also not a fan of the rubber elbow and knee pads that will get cut by the joints unless you dont articulate the figure)

  • @tonycollins3505
    @tonycollins3505 Год назад +2

    The new mold is great would love to see all the commanders done in this mold but with old accurate white plastic and correct weathering and paint apps . I agree they have gotten lazy in their actual follow through . In the older clones you can tell someone cares . In these new ones you can tell it’s all about the profit . Especially with the republic commando troopers which have the wrong size ( I know it’s supposed to be close to the cartoon figure cause that’s what the mold is) but if you are gonna do an homage at least put effort in it . I’ve personally done minor tweaks on the figure that could have been done in house and it would have made the figure closer. All in all spot on with your assessment.

    Off topic question, but when it comes to black series pre orders - once they sell out is that the only chance at getting the figure ? Will they come in stock normally for a period of time after the release date ?

    • @rynohobbies

      They usually come back. Eventually store exclusives come back too. I've seen online stores like BBTS or Nerdzoic get them way after the initial release date. If your speaking strictly mainline figures, they do come back in stock after the initial preorders have sold out.

    I'm not sure i care about the lack of paint on the back of the helmets but i have *strong* feelings about weathering: FUCK weathering. I don't want every single clone i buy to have the exact same smudges. It's super easy to dirt up your clones if you *want* weathering and unless it's a named character we've only ever seen dirty the regs should always be shiney unless they start randomizing the dirt.

    So me personally, I like the Bad Batch Squad Trooper design, it combines the best of both worlds.
    If they were to remold the helmet to get the look of the old one with the movement of the new one, put on the Squad Trooper body, that would be the *BEST* black series clone
    Also I want to enter for the 212th Trooper! I’ve been looking for one forever, and it would help fill out my collection a lot!

      You are not crazy, the older helmets are much better. The new ones are not accurate to any source material whatsoever. They tried to do some middle ground between realistic and animated styles, but the end result is a helmet that looks like neither.
