Really regret giving money to your channel as it seems like you got some “other” money when it was failing as long as you towed the line on certain messaging
My 2 new short video spoke at public critic asian female enter men toilet/ ask men corpse to have privacy, so not only women (to piss back anti trans anti woke hypocrite asian)
I first heard it used in like 1999 maybe, I was a white girl growing up in a mostly POC environment in Northern California, and when it was used on me it was because I was able to understand and navigate most POC communities and I guess being aware of systematic injustices certain communities face (though I didn't talk like them, my dad was pretty racist and would yell at us if we ever talked liked the neighborhood kids, but I could understand their dialect no problem). So when I heard this word being used to mean "political correctness" or being co-opted by the right as a derogatory term, I questioned whether any of those people even know what the word even means, because it comes from a dialect that is more nuanced than the average US dialect
@@aeolia80 lmao I like how you call them "people of color" and no longer "colored people", as if that makes a difference. People like you will always infantilize non-whites not knowing its actually insulting them.
What are global standards? Murican standards? xD A biological woman is what is known as and called a woman. A transwoman is a transwoman. It’s that easy. There is a difference between the two. If you say there is no difference you are simply ignorant. There being a difference however doesn’t justify discrimination however. Doesn’t matter if you’re a man, a transman, a woman or a transwoman. You are a person and have the same rights and deserve the same respect and treatment as anyone else. Thus this whole dancing around definitions and labeling is completely irrelevant.
I share your opinion but I think there is a bit more nuance to it than you make it seem. There are a few areas where biological gender matters, for example in sports, healthcare and a select few others where special criteria could be implemented (for example hormonal criteria in sports, etc). Other than that I am fully with you, where is the issue in this whole woke vs based debate? Why does it matter how you identify if we all get the same rights? Only reason would be if we didn't, so maybe we should focus on that (forced paternal leave for both parents, military service for all, etc).
In real world terms where things matter, "rights" need to be codified into the law which takes a very long process. Thus it completely depends on each society. Few nations like the USA are so powerful that they can influence others but for most things, it depends.
@@hitthedeck4115 Who is talking about influencing others? I’m of the firm belief that every society needs to decide for themselves who they want to be. Would you want to be influenced or dictated by others how to live? People need to look out for themselves. The French didn’t ask anyone else for help when the revolution was underway against the King. Unless a country wages war on another it is their job to find the right way they want to live together and no one else is to tell them otherwise, even if things are inherently wrong from my or your point of view.
so what do u supposed should be the general opinion regarding a transwoman using a female bathroom? What do you supposed in the case the a male who simply identifies as a female uses a female bathroom? If you think definitions are irrelevant, are you really less ignorant than those who says there is no difference?
@@Literature4343 I already answered that: Unisex toilets It’s what I grew up with and the whole concept of gendered bathrooms is ridiculous. I will never understand how people get so emotional and frightened about sharing the bathroom with someone else. If you want privacy, use it at home or use the multipurpose bathroom. There is literally no reason for gendered bathrooms because all the bad people who want to do bad things in the bathroom will enter the bathroom no matter what sign hangs outside.
Let South Korea determine how it evolves as a society - international pressure should not cause them to make rash decisions. Doing so would make people question if they really are an independent nation at the end of the day.
@@BenLorentzen Who's talking about North Korea here? As I said in my other comment, you're making false equivalencies to try and make an argument. North Korea needs the pressure because it's a danger to everyone in the international community. A person not being allowed to play pretend to is not a danger to the international community.
@@mangodaguiotango you cannot isolate yourself from international pressure, hence the reference to NK. Giving individuals and groups protection and rights always comes with risk. But what is not being discussed thoroughly is the risk of NOT giving protection and rights to individuals and groups. If the only argument is : "we don't like woke", "no international pressure on South Korea" and "people on the streets have said...", then there is no real debate. I think for many/ some of us this is the main problem with this video. Not the particular viewpoints on these matters, they complicated. But let's not pretend than this was an unbiased, neutral report!
Again, I did not disagree on the international pressure - I merely pointed out that you're talking apples to oranges in this case. And while I agree, and if you look at my other comments, you will this - the issue is and again, look at the other comments from people - no one wants to discuss and hash it out. They're too busy getting angry and calling the channel and its founders right-wing and saying they're unsubbing simply because they didn't like the video. No mature person reacts in that way. And I do consider this unbiased and neutral because you do not see the interviewers leading the interviewees to an answer that fits anyone's agenda but rather to their own beliefs. I have lots of criticism for this channel especially pertaining to other topics but this is one video in which I actually can give them kudos - they're not being one-sided - they're simply offering an explanation. You cannot call it biased just because you dislike the explanation being given to you. I am going to assume you are not from Korea and neither am I - as such it is not our place to tell the Korean people how they should think. We do not share their experience and we do not share their upbringing - we cannot say that what is true for us should be true for them. They need to make the realization on their own. Instead, we should try to understand why they think the way they do; and then, try to see what we can do to clarify or change that thinking if we truly believe that it's an uninformed point of view. From my experience, this is always what's wrong with people from the west (I am American, mind you), we always think our views are the only true and correct view and we get upset at anyone who dares to disagree. I think you and I agree on a lot of things but you probably don't see that because you're not actually trying to understand what I am saying as much as you're trying to refute it. I implore you to read my comments again and actually think about them instead of nitpicking the little things and bringing into discussion unrelated examples (I understand why you used the example, but again, it's irrelevant for this specific video because this is a topic of culture/society and not tyranny/war). By the way, I am liking this exchange, so by all means keep coming at me if you want - I find it quite stimulating if it wasn't evident by my very giant wall of text.
I think you're getting a bit confused here. International pressure would be something like the US president demanding something with the full power of his country behind him. A few people throwing around strong words on the internet isn't exactly International pressure.
I do believe you’re biased towards a more conservative worldview. And while I consider myself a progressive person. I don’t think the west or anyone for that matter should have a say on how a country decides its laws and its culture. Thats internal businesses, and the whole identity matter is not something as black and white as women’s rights for instance. Also, I think the comment regarding North Korea to be very shallow, they’re a country isolated from the world, suffering from all that comes with it, so of course the UN will not bother with them and even then, they wouldn’t listen to them. The politician seemly trying to relate the bill to communism fear mongering is also a bit concerning. If you have a logic and fair argument against the bill, you don’t need that, and that makes you sound just like the president trying to coup detat based on “communists have infiltrated our country” stupid rhetoric… Also, gay marriage and related policies do not influence in religion freedom in the slightest lol if you want to stop them from marrying at churches, that’s fine. But them marrying legally does not stop you from practicing your religion on the slightest. It’s like Catholics claiming that other people eating meat on Lent stops them from freely practice their religion. All in all, I feel like most countries are not socially ready for a bill with details like that to be passed. It would even need a lot of societal and physical structural changes to accommodate it and most places are not ready to do so.
From the Netherlands, where we also have a lot of extra "Anti-Discrimination Bills" despite our constitution already forbidding discrimination (Article 1 of the Dutch Constitution), I can confirm that those "Anti-Discrimination Bills" are being abused to silence critics and used in the practice of lawfare against, amonst others, politicians and people that stand up for women's rights. This "Anti-Discrimination Bill" ist just an attempt to force Western standards upon South Korea.
You want gay people to be fired from their jobs, be denied housing/healthcare and be kicked out of the military simply for existing as gay people? Why does that anger you so much? Korean law doesn’t protect them.
What makes you think people of other nations should not implement only certain ideas came from other parts of the world? Yakubians never critisize TERFism, neoliberalism or other degenerate western concepts actively harming us. You people do not stand for self-determination, but for reactionary delusion of east asia being unwoke "white people wakanda".

Alleen moet de politie dan ook de capaciteit hebben de aangiftes op te nemen en moet justitie ook echt capaciteit hebben tot vervolging over te gaan. Met allerlei nieuwe wetten is dat niet beter geworden.
the term woke came from black people and if you were called “woke” it was a compliment because it meant you were intelligent, and aware of things like discrimination and racism. but unfortunately somehow people have made the word negative and i feel like now “woke” is the complete opposite of what it first meant. 90% of the time when i hear the word used it’s calling someone woke for having empathy for others.
Was it from black people (I don’t know the origin)? Anyway I miss the true meaning of the word, it used to have good connotations as you mentioned, how unfortunate 😢
@@jerryn9690there’s no such thing as an African American outside of Elon Musk and a handful of other white people from the country of South Africa. Americans that are black are Americans that are black.

It's very easy to follow the crowd the see anti-discrimination as bad. But most people don't bother to think deep enough of the implication. I wish that Asian countries can remain calm and see how it has become in the west instead of joining the fray. There are so many reports of oppression, censorship and abuse of power that I think it's better to think twice.
I love this channel, I find it very interesting to learn about other cultures. But I feel the need to make an important correction here. The example used of the “man” boxing in woman’s boxing in the Olympics is not true. The woman is not trans, she was not born a male, she was born a female and has been female her entire life. There is, at best, conflicting information as to whether she possesses XX or XY chromosomes. The way that it was just said as if it was a fact in the clip was very misleading because even if the chromosome issue was true, which is not confirmable, she was still born with female genitals. I’d be the first one to protest if someone who was born genetically male competed at that level and won, but this is not something that is a fact in this case.
This feels like a bit of a perfect microcosm of one of the themes of the video of external Western ideology imposing itself on Eastern worldview. As emphasized multiple times in the video, virtually all Koreans interpret the definition of a Woman to be someone with XX chromosomes and a Man to be someone with XY chromosomes. Therefore, your point of view that whether the controversial boxer Khelif Imane mentioned had XX or XY chromosomes is something of irrelevance because of intersex genitalia, goes directly against how basically all Koreans perceive the matter.
should not have to be making this correction - if asian boss could take the time to splice through hours of korean assembly confirmation footage to find parts that helped push forward their blatantly political narrative but not spend the time to fuckin fact check it by doing a single google search then it clearly shows where their priorities lie
@@2apur , they didn't. You are listening to propaganda lies that have no grounds in truth. They found an ugly woman in the Olympics and said, "She is actually a man!!!" Absurd and baseless lies.
He talks a lot about "Western media", "Western concepts", "Western standards", etc, etc. What does that mean? I live in a Western European country, and I don't exactly know what he is talking about, because nothing that he labels as "Western" really reflects my reality. Also, isn't Christianity, as it is practiced in South Korea, a Western-imposed tradition? If many South Koreans against that bill are so because of their Christian beliefs, can I make the argument that they are victims of "Western cultural bias"?
Man. I like your videos. Agree the law is vague. Agree western media reporting on this is patronising. But no need to just repeat these weird US right-wing talking points about trans people? 'Anti-woke'? Only people making a 'big deal' of trans people are people in the US. They are such a small percentage of the population and laws to protect them in practice don't really affect anyone else. Even if you think they don't exist or are deluded or whatever they are still people who get bullied and attacked way more than the average person. Let's improve the law and stop using all this weird imported conservative nonsense from the US.
The US is, unfortunately, a huge influence on the rest of the western world and its social issues have become social issues in other countries (like mine, New Zealand) and you labelling them right wing or whatever doesn't take away from their validity. The fact the trans debate is a spoken debate in government here in my small country shows that videos like these are relevant to the global community. Stop trying to sweep it under the rug because you are tired of seeing it. Thanks
@SwayNoir Your point is understandable but I think missing my point. The US is a huge influence but we need to counteract that. The whole 'trans debate' just isn't a social issue. The news media makes us feel like it is but it really doesn't affect 99% of people. Like the video itself says, there are more important things to worry about. If Trans people had all the rights everyone else has tomorrow no one would even notice. You're right I shouldn't have labelled it as 'right-wing' but it is mostly US conservative media using all these terms that in my opinion don't translate well other societies.
Laws put in practice to protect them specifically do affect others unfortunately otherwise noone would really care. In fact examples were mentioned in the video. But also there are laws in place to protect people in general you know? If they are bullied or attacked then they are protected by the law as citizens or people. Why specify a law that specifically protects them as trans people?
@illumigk6307 look I agree the law is vague and not perfect but why not improve that aspect rather than saying we're anti-woke? I guess those are my main disagreements with the video, that it doesn't really affect people in the way they have been told it will. I agree with the video in that the biased western reporting is ridiculous and that the law is too broad and vague. That in itself is a strong enough point. Just wanted to add I think the often heard talking points like: 'we refuse to go woke', 'What is a women?', 'Does that sound like it might happen in your country?'. Don't really add any information and distract from the issues that actually deserve debate.
As a Korean American I have this to say… South Korea shall forever preserve its culture and traditions even it goes against the woke rhetoric! 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
You mentioned how sometimes it feels like people use talking points they have heard in the media, ironically i feel like what you said in this video is those same talking points. You asking "What a woman?", as if that's what LGTB rights are all about, shows your lack of understanding specifically what "western" supporters of LGBT are advocating for. I also don't understand what you meant by most "Koreans are not dumb" because they have a college degree. Most people in the U.S. who support LGBTQ rights, have college degrees and are considered very smart under your standards. I am only bringing up "Westerners" because you keep mentioning them, i understand Koreans can have their own opinions but you're making these generic statements without any knowledge about Westerners/Americans, which is what is concerning. You said you strive for unbiased journalism but you didn't interview Korean LGTBQ? It would have been more interesting to see if they also disagreed or agreed with the bill.
Agreed. Having a college degree doesn't guarantee you have a deep understanding of biology and psychology, or even that you are highly intelligent. One interviewee mentioned a woman is someone who can get pregnant. Then what if you're infertile?? What if you've gone through menopause or a hysterectomy? Most people talked about XX and XY chromosomes, but there are other possible combinations like XXY, XYY, and XXYY. Even someone with XX male syndrome can present biologically male instead of female. Biological sex is extremely complicated. It isn't common sense for everyone.
@@H.J.M. you are focusing on the exception. It is in a woman’s nature to be capable of giving birth. If she can’t give birth, she will visit a doctor because something is wrong.
@@H.J.M. It's important to keep in mind that those are extremely rare cases. We are talking 0.05%. We should separate these 2 issues as they are vastly different. Identifying as something other than your biological gender and having a biological gender that doesn't fit in the standard XX - XY categories are two entirely different cases, what do you guys think?
@@H.J.M.But you know these chromosomes are rarities essentially anomalies and are intentionally being obtuse by not recognising what they mean by someone who can get pregnant. A woman going through menopause could have gotten pregnant but no longer can, a woman that's born with a womb etc but cannot get pregnant has some of what's needed but not all you know. They have the woman parts, they are just unfortunately lacking something, etc. These problems existed in the past and woman were still women nonetheless. Even when it comes to chromosomes, usually the person with anomaly chromosomes are assigned a specific gender at birth, usually the side they are closer to.
I feel like this dude thinks he’s being objective. He’s obviously very pressed and has an opinion. I’ve been subscribed for so long but this isn’t why I subscribed in the first place, bro go touch some grass and let people on the streets do the talking
I find it fascinating how despite being an insanely secular nation, Koreans tend to be extremely socially conservative. Here in the West social conservatism tends to align with religious values.
In my opinion, it's because of the Eastern and Western religions. In Eastern religions, the third gender is already accepted but that is not the case in Western religions. Hence the need of their rights.
I totally agree with SK. In my country, I don't want us also to deal with these extreme wokeness. Personally, I agree with everyone to respect each other's gender, race, religion, and beliefs, but not to the point that one group will usurp another's rights in order to have their rights. Also, as a professional, I believe that one's success must be based on merits and not on identity. What should be equal is just the opportunity for it. That’s my humble take on this issue.
When the ceo of the channel has to step in to spend 30 minutes spewing his personal opinion, you are no longer reporting, you're advocating. They are much more sly ways to get your agenda across, such as selective editing. This video was cringe. Especially considering the madness of a martial law declaration that just happened. Talk about being off the mark. Focus on real issues please.
Many Asian countries have been wearing masks on their own long before covid. And most stopped covid-related mandatory wearing of masks WAY before western countries. Sometimes, might want to consider not being dumb.
a bit earlier, 4B interview I think. He's "everything is a woman's (gay\trans etc) fault" bunch. Not corporations andd polititians. I just don't understand why people can't compare numbers, how much do initiatives cost vs. how much do corporation get as bail or tax benefits (idk the term, I'm not an english speaker). But yeah sure it's because they turn frogs gay or smth Not to mention that every other SK president goes to jail for corruption. It's like LOOK WHO'S TALKING
To be honest, after the long politically biased speech of the moderator I can't take those street interviews serious. He already established his political views so it is impossible for me to know if all those people are actually against trans people or if he only cut those people in who are against trans people while cutting everyone who is in favor of trans people out. Also, how about you stop talking about "western world" or "western media" when clearly talking about USA. When you talk about "western" you are also including wester europe and whenever you say "western media says" it rarely represents what wester europian media says.
Yes. Very evidently leading street interview questions "if a man said he's a woman and went into the women's bathrooms.." ofcourse the response to this is different than if you asked about a transgender woman using the bathroom.. and Korea actually has SO MANY mixed gender bathrooms, anyway. Also, when translating one of the first interviewees, the guy said that the idea of anti discrimination law had come from 'overseas'.. the sub says 'from the West' Also.. Korea has sections of the constitution protecting women from discrimination at work.. since 1987.. so why has sk got the worst gender pay gap in the oecd? He wants to tell us accurate detail about 1million people protesting out of a country of 51million (3% of Koreans identify as LGBT, too.. that's 1.5million people) but he doesn't want to accurately tell us the content of the individual anti discrimination laws.. that conspicuously don't protect from racial discrimination? I love that he can't be confident that anyone will be able to give an overview of the comprehensive bill as they will most likely just be copying 'talking points' ...and we are expected to take his overview, which uses the word woke and sums it up as transgender protections as... not just talking points. Terrible video.
I could see you paddling furiously to appear unbiased, but sorry dude, you failed miserably. It's hardly constructive to interview people who have nothing but demonstrably surface, shallow, and trivial exposure to the topic in question, and expect an answer that is either educated, considered, or nuanced. Jeez, even biological sex isn't binary. If you can even grasp that simple scientific concept, then maybe you're not best qualified to pontificate on this issue.
He just explained he's also part of the large majority that's not giving into the Left wokism. He's not backpeddaling shlt. Korea has no time for your loser identity politics.
He seems biased, true. Can you explain to me how the biological sex not being binary is an argument here? I didn't see obvious implications in this video of people generally not knowing that there are biological exceptions. I may be wrong though and my vision might be flawed.
@@gamensch2629 "Biological sex" is not about XX and XY chromosome but about the way most people's body deal with a certain part of Y chromosome. Most intersex people have Y chromosome but hasn't developed in usual way, but there cerainly are many people who does not have Y chromosome while being presented with more male hormones induced features.

Regarding the recent Martial Law situation, I was told by a South Korean that there basically just conservative parties in the parliament. e also told me that corruptione xists on every level and that the recent president, as unpopular and powerhungry he is, seemed to have been right on the "foreign infiltration". Although in this context it was more abou North Korea, China and Russia. However, I believe that SK is quite different from what many people expect or at least I was surprised over the years to hear stories on this country. If they don't agree with something then so be it. They have to find their own way to survive. Stephen is not very neutral in this one. ^^
6:39 you literally just got triggered when you heard "gender and sexual orientation" and didn't address why it would be a bad thing to broaden the antidiscrimination law

Can't believe I once donated to you guys! You even went as far as using male pronouns for that female athlete on purpose lol That was not a direct translation as the Korean in that part did not have gender specific pronouns. I don't know why I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt after seeing the thumbnail, that's on me As a long time viewer, I am extremely disappointed by this video. Whether or not I agree with the topic aside, it's such a blatantly opinionated and biased piece that it turns me off. What I liked about Asian Boss was being able to see what the average citizen think about an assortment of topics. Even if I disagree with them, it makes for an interesting window into other countries' mindset. Your opening segment made under the guise of showing both sides is so obviously biased towards Stephen's stance of the topic that it just feels embarrassing. You're intentionally muddying the waters and framing the topic in your favor. I will no longer be watching. Please do better.
There is so much misinformation on these subjects. What this story misses is the perspective of the trans community. I understand that this side of the story is really hard to get. Trans people suffer tremendously because of this and are kept invisible because of this genetic narrative. Because everyone is talking about trans women, but trans men are completely forgotten? No one wins in this story. No one is saying that South Koreans are stupid, quite the opposite, actually. This part of society and history has been kept out of the spotlight for so long, we're all just learning about it. So most people don't know a lot about it and it sure isn't taught in schools. Not even in the west. The little mermaid bombed everywhere, live action adaptations are not great. I hope we can all keep learning together and when we are properly informed, make our choices based on real evidence and studies, instead of what someone from the US shouted in Congress about bathrooms.

The word "woke" is broadly used to describe a state of being "aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues especially of racial and social injustice". It originated from African American Vernacular English (AAVE) in the early part of the 20th century. In an interview about the song, Lead Belly-who was born Huddie Ledbetter-said, "Stay woke, keep your eyes open." "Stay woke" was first used by Black folk singer Lead Belly when he was talking about his 1938 song "Scottsboro Boys." According to Quest, the song referred to "nine Black teens FALSELY accused of graping two white women in 1931, [who] were sentenced to death. NAACP forced repeated retrials. They were finally freed but never recovered As is often the case, the ⬜ right adopted it to be code for Black and then expanded it to cover everything else they do not like. A strategy created by the Heritage Foundation, a ⬜ think tank. Chris Rufo also did the same CRT and openly admitted on twitter that it was their strategy to twist the meaning of the term and associate it with what ⬜ America hates.
Fact just like they also took the slang word "Based" from the Freedmen(Black American) community when originally we were using that word most recently back around 2010's because the rapper "Lil B the based god" was using it now it's mostly used by ⬜to give props to anyone who disrespect us. The trend of taking from our culture then using and flipping it as a way to disrespect us a common trend with them
Almost correct… It’s originally from the Jamaican Marcus Garvey phrase In 1923, when he called for Black liberation with the phrase "Wake up Ethiopia! Wake up Africa!" But even before the lead belly song it was in The Pittsburgh Courier published an article titled "The Negro Is 'Woke'" in 1930, highlighting the awakening of African Americans to the realities of racism and systemic oppression, serving as a testament to their growing awareness and determination to fight for equality (The Pittsburgh Courier, "The Negro Is 'Woke'" (1930)). The article sheds light on the evolving consciousness and resistance within the African American community during a time of deep-seated racial discrimination. Before in lead belly song in 1938.
@ did you my comment correcting the inaccuracy of the origin of the term? But yes the term has been co-opted out of very specific form of activism in Marcus Garvey case. The return to Africa. Which ends up abusing the local population and subjected them to subhuman treatment and colonization but this is how culture and language work. Black Americans were influenced by a Jamaican and others influenced by black American civil right activism. Culture doesn’t live in a museum.
I find it incredibly ironic that you state at the start that Koreans are not stupid (which they obviously are not) only to do a 180 and call them dumb because “they did not understand what the bill meant” in your mind. Not a fan of the transphobia in the comments sections but will give the benefit of the doubt that a lot of it comes from misinformed people or people who have never socialised with people who are often targets of oppression and hate. This is incredibly dissapointing from you. This isn’t “woke” or “western politics”. People have been gay from hundreds if not thousands of centuries. Korea has been slow to adapt because of Imperial rule during the early 1900’s and then being under rule from the North until the 1980s. There is nothing wrong with embracing other cultures. It does not diminish or extinguish your countries culture. LGBT rights should be protected and advocated in every place as much as possible in my honest opinion. If you think people just decide they are gay or trans you are delusional. You don’t have to like it but it ultimately does not affect you or your materialistic conditions. Someone being treated like they are human, deserve to exist and should be proud of their identity does not change your income, your housing, your security, your food etc. let people live how they want as long as it’s not affecting anyone. I don’t get why you are so opposed to not only Korean rights, but human rights. Korea is a beautiful country but is definitely a little regressive in some regards, especially when it comes to having one of the largest pay gaps between men and women in the world. Pretty much all the cases the politicians used were misinformation or propaganda which you then parroted which is dishonest and disappointing. There is also a rise in incel culture (not just in Korea) where men are becoming even more hateful towards even biological females. Acceptance of lgbtq+ rights is something that takes time and will eventually change in Korea. You have to remember as I said earlier that Korea has always been a very isolated country (again due to imperialism). Biological males and females aren’t just decided by chromosomes. Xx/xy influences it and is a good marker MOST of the time, not 100% of the time. Hormones also affect the sex and reproductive organs don’t always develop fully. It’s not so simple and saying otherwise is completely disregarding science and fact. We are all human at the end of the day and if people think there aren’t Koreans who are trans or gay or have to hide it because of social conditioning, you are foolish. Spread love, not hate. ✌️
I'm not korean, so if my country is proposing this law such are to be concerned: We want less law and more participation. If previous law works well, what's the issue that entails such update? Even if there were issues, people could talk about it first, show it on tv shows, social media influences, why immidiately wants to change the law. How obtrusive is the current law that it is impeding such "goodness"? Next, it looks like the proposal sounds good, then the people should adopt it, in the way of their expectations. So if anyone wants to do weird stuffs, at least it is not law. Just do it. There are more pressing things, the carbon monoxide of the law. Severance Payment. Anyway, Koreans are amazing for their willingness to take care of their laws Greatness ×1.000.000
Since the world is in such a precarious place with polarisation, why not make an incremental law, proposing first that LGBTQ people do not get discriminated in the economic and law sphere, then bringing it only later to the social realm where we can all cry our tears about a very small minority (who matter just like every human, but still are a minority).
How about learn to not to make a big deal of things? Who cares if someone "identified as something", theyre still human beings. Dont make something like this into a huge deal like shifting off to war
I understand the perspective of Asian Boss and what it's trying to say. I think the root problem of his argument is that South Koreans are "highly educated in math and science" But their science doesn't teach the vagueness of XY vs XX chromosomes. There is relatively small percentage of people who are not born with pure XX or XY chromosomes. And this is aside from Gender Identity. I am not a chromosome intersex specialist. From what I've read Leonard Sax says the true intersex population could be as low as 0.018 percent of the whole population. According to Anne Fausto-Sterling, the number goes as high as 1.7% of the population. That number seems awfully high. 1.7% means out of 100 births, almost 2 babies are born intersex where they can neither be identified as male or female. Many of the people interviewed only knew about XX vs XY and used it as a definition of man or woman, which is not quite right. But to what degree are they not quite right? 0.018% not right or 1.7% not right? It's a huge difference. The author of the video should have at least done some homework on this to sound mildly educated as he claims to be.
....And, what about hermaphrodites (the intersexed)? You, yourself, even said that this is aside from (curiously, you capitalized this) "Gender Identity". It's not the hermaphrodites (as we used to call them) who are claiming to "transition" from one sex to the other (or to any kind of pansexuality). It's the ordinary XYs or XXs who claim this, and then demand that everyone else "respect" their own delusions. The people who were interviewed had said that women were XXs and men were XYs, of course, are absolutely correct. Those with ANOMALOUS or ABNORMAL chromosome combinations (who in many, if not most, cases cannot sexually reproduce) are not representative of what is male and female. The exceptions ...PROVE the rule, not the other way around. But, yeah, why don't you lecture the Koreans, who have one of the best science educations in the world.
😂the west gaslights the general public and makes people believe that calling out perverts constitutes discrimination. Absolutely madness. Thank God - common sense still exists in South Korean.
I find this video to be so comically biased. According to you, a bill that opposes the discrimination of marginalized groups in your society can be labeled as 'Western culture being forced upon South Korea,' but Catholic Churches and their followers, who promote gender wars and the importance of the status quo in your society, do not?
Lol this guy refuses to hold any unbiased research, and the entire video is filled with angry right-wing rhetoric between the lines. Just like the other video you uploaded, where the lady was explaining the 4B movement, you were completely biased and started interrupting the lady non-stop. You called the ideas 'radical' and 'extreme' - already inserting your biased opinion, going further away from your objectivity. This video is the same, except you don't have someone smart to correct you. I've been in Public Law for 5+ years and this video and its contents are far away from authentic, and completely biased. Can't wait to see how deep this kinda content will go hahaha
It dont thin u got the 4B movement video .The reason ehy he was interjecting and „inserting „ his bias , was so the researcher didn‘t get picked apart in the media if the bideo was ro go viral in korea. By inserting that „this isnt you opinion this is very radical „ he was taking away any attack surface. Why do is ay this in case of u spend any time in the comments or know korean culture : u would have read comments of korean women adressing that and explaining why for westerners it seem like he is interjecting.
@@chris-chenlel Hey Chris! Interesting insight. I admit I have my doubts on your opinion since the way he comes across in this video as well, talking about 'gender politics' and the groups that need protection seems very opinionated, rather than sharing information from both sides. However, will take your comment as a new perspective I haven't considered before I'll revisit the video and search for those comments by Korean women. Cheers
Woke: Trans men can walk into women’s bathrooms making many women uncomfortable ( because they may be hormonally and biologically male ) Woke: Saying racist things about certain races while claiming to be “ fighting racism “ Woke: Discriminating against people who achieve ( if they are of certain racial background ) This is literally what we hear from those who call themselves “woke”
_"Being able to express an opinion presupposes that you're sufficiently informed on the issue at hand because you've actually looked into the details..."_ This is the very reason why I stopped watching the street interviews on Asian Boss. In the beginning when the channel began, I watched them for entertainment value. But I got tired of watching them because people on the street do not provide insights about anything. They are highly ignorant about issues, peddle crazy beliefs and conspiracies and if asked about the culture they live in, they just repeat stereotypes that they've gotten used to, without deep, critical analysis of their own culture. This is of course a problem everywhere, not just Asia. The channel claims to have the lofty mission of "bridging social and cultural gaps between Asia and the rest of the world", but interviewing ignorant people on the street simply does not do that. An interview like that is like a human-interest story. It might appeal to emotions, but is devoid of facts. And that's a problem because facts are what we need to bridge gaps in understanding. Why would you portray street interviews as a source of valid, relevant source of information? Another problem is the weakness of the interviewers. They ask softball questions which do not make the interviewees think, or look at issues deeply or from other angles. As a result the interviews are extremely superficial. The interviewers also do not push back when the interviewees provide false information, which frequently happens. This is irresponsible because a lot of people who watch the videos will walk away with a false image of what the situation is in a country, because many viewers do not have the knowledge or critical thinking skills to assess the truth value of what they see in the videos. Interviewing experts would be much better than talking to random ignoramuses on the street. They could provide the actual answers to questions that laypeople do not have. The only street interviews by Asian Boss worth watching are those that are about light, silly topics, because it doesn't matter what people answer. Its just all in good fun. But the interviews about serious issues are frustrating to watch because the gap between the high-quality information the video could provide by relying on experts and statistics and the low-quality information it actually provides by interviewing random people is so huge.
many foreigners say interviewed people are forced to lie? lol just accept in Korea we not have many lgbtqp and we don't want this here. please respect! we respect you country so respect our!
Another thing to think about: Laws are there to protect the people's most basic rights but what happens when someone else violates someone's rights? We apply consequences, do we not? In that case, if we give additional rights (above that of basic rights) to a specific group of people, what do we do when they use those rights to violate people's rights? Do we allow it to avoid "discriminating" against that group or do we take a look at those rights, review it, and maybe decide to modify it so it can't be used to impede other people's rights? People should not be so quick to simplify these these things as if it's as easy as reciting the alphabet - these laws have the potential to cause ripples that can impact the future. That's why it needs to be reviewed and the wording specified to the most specific it can be, so that it cannot be used as a blanket sword and shield for things it was not meant to be used for.
Even in my 3rd world country, we are taught since elementary that "right" is something you deserve and you cannot take other people's right. If your right cpnflict with others' right, you cannot do the right. If you have right to bear arm and other person have the right to have a life, then you use your right to arm to eliminate other's life, you won't have right to arm anymore plus consequences.
@@Dominus_Potatus agreed! People are guaranteed their rights but forfeits such rights when they use it infringe on another person's rights. And rights in this case are rights agreed upon by the people because it has been viewed as beneficial for all - rights are not defined as strong feelings of entitlement for oneself.
let each country decide what it wants to do with it's people itself. that's what i think. the more they wait, the more they can see the good and the bad from other countries that enacted new laws. it's not about being woke, it's just about living in harmony and finding good enough compromises that work long term.
That’s not rational or sensible. This opens the door for governments to dictate what that means. For example, here in Australia the Labour Party currently in government tried to pass a “Misinformation Bill” under the guise of protecting children from harm when in fact it was a backdoor way to allow the government to dictate what would be considered misinformation and what isn’t. In other words, the government had full power of censorship. So no, that is a terrible idea that you’re suggesting
Well, first of all, as an African, it just broke my heart to see non occidental people that much obssessed with western religions. In my country, evangelic churches are booming. It discuss me.... believe me, it will end in Civil war.... because in the USA, they are this close of it. Now, the " Woke" you are talking about so much, here in France, where I live, people are obssessed with this world this notion. I am a simple person, I dont care of the world you want to use, but for me a society should never ever discriminate any one. In ancient times, transpeople has more right than in our society.... why? Because we decide to dish our tradition to copy the christian religion of white people. In ancien times, in many many societies, gay people has a special place in traditional behavior and all, but since we decided that the western religions are better, we dished it. You think south korean society is that different of the west?? Yeah, of europe.. maybe.... but south korea is basicaly an american republican colony.... you are obseded with this " woke" world who doesn't mean anything .... I saw in those street interviews so much falses informations spread by the MAGA..... so south korea is not that special.... well you decided to put your energy in this when you have a dictator as head of state and when your countrybis litteraly disapearing.... don't you understand that people doesn't do children because they are inhappy? France, who is one of the OCDE country, with the higgest birth rate, aknowlegde now that it is thier egalitarian system who give them an advantage on other countries, like Italy, just near by, who is very judgemental and discriminatory.... and far right.... when will you underdtand that people need to be happy to project themselves in the futur??? Very dissappointed by this whole video
I think he as many others are annoyed that they as a nation have to explain themselves to outsiders. Would annoy me too. The double standard of nations and foreign parties, especially of the west, calling out south korea over this is a joke. And if you know korean as a language, you would understand that english speaking from a native korean, has a very strong sound to it.

This video is very informative and does a very good job of presenting the views of the people of Korea. No people should force their values on others and i am very excited to see Koreans standing up for their values. I really think that this format will be informative to people outside Asia to perhaps gain understanding of the culture, mind set and perspective, directly from the people of Asia. I believe these conversations are very important to have. Thank you.
my cousin in korea lives in gangnam with his rich family. he's 40 years old and still not married and living with parents. is this typical? i'm hoping for a video that addresses this topic.
Living with parents is normal in conservative countries, until u get married. Kinda same in italy too. Going out before that is kinda off for them, not for all. Younger generations are more modern on that, it depends on the family and how much independent parents raise you. Plus Gangnam is costly, if he's an only son why moving when you have a good apartment at ur disposal?
Hmm, I’m from a relatively conservative background that have some progressive views too. My views on SOGIE Bills like this is members of the LGBTQ community should be respected and not discrimated upon but my opinions and others shouldn’t be discriminated. If I express my discomfort seeing a transperson entering a different toilet room I shouldn’t be penalized for it.
@@Mx5GhostoI’m just tired of the bastardization of the word “woke.” It’s taken an entirely different meaning at this point. I’m exhausted. I’m so tired of hearing it. And perhaps, I should let the video play out but I fail to see any issue with the proposed legislation that isn’t just a disdain for queer people or other marginalized groups. People keep talking about “the west” in the comments but queer people have existed in Korea for a long time much like they’ve existed in other countries even African ones for centuries. I’m sure there may be particular parts of the bill that are perhaps unsavory but if you say “this bill is bad” and then the reason is “gay people” ehhh you’re not the type of person that I, as a Bisexual woman, would wanna support.
I guess someone can’t take the rejection news of an identity politics ideology for the trans community. That’s right at the 7 minute mark. 🤷♂️ Good job for recognizing that South Korea.
This whole video shows me just how needed the anti-discrimination bill is. Especially the street interview where people are getting gender and sex mixed up or how everyone is referring to hate speech as “free speech”

Murican standards? xD
A biological woman is what is known as and called a woman.
@@hitthedeck4115
Who is talking about influencing others?
@@Literature4343
I already answered that: Unisex toilets
It’s what I grew up with and the whole concept of gendered bathrooms is ridiculous.
"International pressure" is there whether you like it or not. You could try NKoreas way, but I wouldn't recommend it.
If you have a logic and fair argument against the bill, you don’t need that, and that makes you sound just like the president trying to coup detat based on “communists have infiltrated our country” stupid rhetoric…
Also, gay marriage and related policies do not influence in religion freedom in the slightest lol if you want to stop them from marrying at churches, that’s fine.

Huh? There are tons of cases of biological men in women’s private spaces. It definitely affects people.
You guys notice how more and more channels and social media personalities are coming out against wokeness??

Well, what is a woman?

왜냐하면 전체적으로 우경화 되었기 때문입니다.

Not to mention that every other SK president goes to jail for corruption.
Everyone has a political bias. It is actually more honest to tell it beforehand. Street interviews are not empirical studies after all
Well I do have to say that western Europe media companies are pushing this agenda as well. However, reality seems to hit hard too.
Yes. Very evidently leading street interview questions "if a man said he's a woman and went into the women's bathrooms.." ofcourse the response to this is different than if you asked about a transgender woman using the bathroom.. and Korea actually has SO MANY mixed gender bathrooms, anyway.
Also, when translating one of the first interviewees, the guy said that the idea of anti discrimination law had come from 'overseas'.. the sub says 'from the West'
Also..

I saw his interview with the woman explaining the 4B movement and he seemed extremely biased. Guess it’s time for me to move on from this channel
@hani6364 I think so.

Global means UN. Period. Identity politics.
They were finally freed but never recovered
As is often the case, the ⬜ right adopted it to be code for Black and then expanded it to cover everything else they do not like. A strategy created by the Heritage Foundation, a ⬜ think tank. Chris Rufo also did the same CRT and openly admitted on twitter that it was their strategy to twist the meaning of the term and associate it with what ⬜ America hates.
Leftard spotted , opinion rejected, mr woke😂😂😂
I was coming her to similarly inform people about the way that this is misused. You already did it and in excellent form. Thank you 👏 👏 👏
@ did you my comment correcting the inaccuracy of the origin of the term?
I'm not korean, so if my country is proposing this law such are to be concerned:
We want less law and more participation.

_"Being able to express an opinion presupposes that you're sufficiently informed on the issue at hand because you've actually looked into the details..."_
This is the very reason why I stopped watching the street interviews on Asian Boss.
The bill is always and have been there but other countries farrr awayy abused them and trying to include kids.

Let's straighten this conversation up: We're talking here about human rights. Period.

Damn! So many sane and good answers from the street interviews.
Bro's face was censored.
IE. Australia’s “misinformation bill” designed to allow the government full reign to censorship
They choose not refuse
let each country decide what it wants to do with it's people itself. that's what i think. the more they wait, the more they can see the good and the bad from other countries that enacted new laws. it's not about being woke, it's just about living in harmony and finding good enough compromises that work long term.
Been watching Asian Boss on and off for years.
You sound really angry for some reason.
@HaCkEr6662k7 I dont know if you've noticed by my username. But I'm Korean. Living IN Korea. Thnx
@@yunahnam Then all the power to you ;D
Your bias is definitely showing. Stay neutral my man.
Why stay neutral? .....Clearly, you've taken a side on this issue.
you are not biased?
Even South Korea is using the word "woke" wrong.
Wow! Did you just accuse all South Koreans of using the word "woke" wrong because of this one individual's use of the word? Not very woke of you.
@@brianoh7823 OP is so intolerant and insensitive
Whoa! his face got puffy😅
The conversation can stop at the information of "christian protest". It is all about the religious belief at the end of the day, isn't it.
It doesn't take a religion to define what a woman is.
Only for the indoctrinated.
No. You don't have to be religious to disagree with the definition of genders.
it's unfortunate this ever got connected to a religious issue when it's always been a biological issue.
@@hamerful Agree. But looking at how the protests are done by mostly Christian, the biggest reason for them to disagree with the bill is religious belief.
Woke in South Korea is eating Kimchi exported from America😂
yeah i should have guessed. this bill they want passed is completely standard stuff for western social values. if you can't understand the difference between providing legal options for marginalized groups of people, which is all this bill does, and playing identity politics, you shouldn't be commenting on this. shameful
They’re not marginalized though.
@ceeIoc gay, lesbian, trans, people aren't marginalized?
@@ceeIoci have some bad news for you about the murder rates for queer people friend :( they are in fact quite marginalized
they have the legal options that are available to all citizens of korea. what does this bill add that they need?
@@illumigk6307 you are feigning ignorance. wording is everything with laws. specifying that employer discrimination on the basis of gender identity/sexual orientation/religion gives minorities a stronger legal argument- which could be necessary to use when the legal systems themselves are also biased against them
I would love to see your interview on the street filming setup.
Go woke go broke
This video is not going to go down well with the turquoise haired Koreaboos that know nothing about Korea except for K-pop and K-dramas.
Okay, this made me laugh...but now that you mentioned it...damn, they're going to cancelled their fan club memberships and boycott their KPOP groups :( I still laughed, though. TY.
Ok since when Asian Boss became anti-woke garbage? I must have missed it. Either way, unsubbed and went on with my day.
@ponbaron8843 Oh good. I thought mebbe I was misreading the vid. Seems like many read the same vibe.
no one cares lol
Good. Keep doubling down. It’s no wonder Trump won.
im sure its a loss for them.
So if it was woke garbage you would stay subbed? Lmao good riddance
I do not like the like the anti discrimination law for trans person because some of those trans person try successfully suppress mostly women's rights especial in sports.
Thank you.
bro fell off
That whole area near it needs to go
my cousin in korea lives in gangnam with his rich family. he's 40 years old and still not married and living with parents. is this typical? i'm hoping for a video that addresses this topic.
Made it 7 minutes into this video before ultimately unsubscribing. Cringe.
No hate im just curious, why did you unsubscribe?
Good job for recognizing that South Korea.
@@aideulphobicleave the kids alone
No problem, I subbed to them to cancel yours out 🤣
So the people on you interviewed about the Little Mermaid wouldn't also not say on camera that they racist.
"I'm gonna try something different" is that something getting people to unsubscribe? It worked.
Good, keep it up and keep losing.
This whole video shows me just how needed the anti-discrimination bill is. Especially the street interview where people are getting gender and sex mixed up or how everyone is referring to hate speech as “free speech”
no need for this format! (just as feedback because you asked in the end)
Gloves are off, I see. Unsubscribing.
I'm proud for South Korea,
Screw USAs clown ways
I wish I was from another country
Much respect to Korea 🙏🏽🇯🇲❤️🇰🇷🙏🏽
