  • U.S. Marines and sailors aboard the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) stood guard as the ship docked at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2024 on June 21. This exercise involves 29 countries, 40 surface ships, three submarines, 14 national ground forces, over 150 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel. Held around the Hawaiian Islands from June 27 to August 1, RIMPAC is the world's largest international maritime exercise. It offers unparalleled training opportunities while fostering and strengthening cooperative relationships that are essential for ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2024 marks the 29th edition of the series, which began in 1971
