I was Navy and assigned to The USS Ashland 1, during The Vietnam Era. When in as a smart ass kid & came out as a man. It is what molded me into what I am, today. An excellent experience for any young person! 👍🏻
@Barry Obama From what I have been able to see, a much greater ability to deliver Marines, the well deck was much shorter and narrower. They had no provision for delivering trucks, etc. I was with HMA-369 & we flew offensive missions off the northern coast of Vietnam in '72, using the Bell Cobra.
Was she leaking from then ceiling in all the heads when you were on her? Cos she def was when I had the pleasure of mystery liquid smack me in my dome. 🤓
I served on a Frigate in the ‘60s and the food was excellent, thankfully because I had an appetite like a horse. Never seasick even during really heavy seas during gale force winds in the Indian Ocean, when the Upper Decks where OOB! Loved every day onboard, and miss it now. Still have my Bosun’s Pipe🤗😂
I Worked on LPD 28 29 and DDG 125. It's amazing watching them get built and knowing that everything I helped build will be important to the success of their missions.
@@coryhoggatt7691 I've ate at Chiefs, Officers, and enlisted messes. It's not the same. Chiefs eat better food and have more options. Enlisted only have food available during meal hours. Khakis have snacks available to them. Many times, snacks that are not available to non-khakies. Not the same.
USS Pittsburgh (LPD-31), a Flight 2 San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock for the United States Navy, will be the fifth United States Navy vessel named after Pittsburgh. Secretary of the Navy officially announced multiple ship name, including Pittsburgh, during his visit to oldest U.S. Navy commissioned ship afloat, USS Constitution, on 15 January 2021.
thanks for sharing tho I was hoping for more of a tour at most we see captain and part of the area he stands in, so since I have never seen this kind of ship I wasn't able to get a sense of how big they are, aft deck kinda but inside Ummm Nope! but keep safe all aboard
I’m so sorry for the tragedy and trauma you and your family went through. I will never forget that terrible day and will always honor those we lost in my heart. Hugs to your Mom, Aunt, and Uncle. I will remember your cousin during this year’s anniversary and will be praying for your peace and comfort. Take good care of yourself and your family.
a small section of the ship even built using metals scrapped from the attack on Pentagon, same thing with USS New York using metals from the remains of the WTC.
Too much time in Mess hall, on a static bridge, or at a memorial. Show us radar, missile defense, fire control systems, amphibious compliment, rifle companies....I cannot subscribe.

I was deployed with the USS Denver, Dubuque and the Cleveland in 1972.
The changes are outstanding.

I spent 6 months as an embarked Marine onboard USS Dubuque (LPD-8). Nice to see how these modern ships have evolved.
Definitely an improvement!
When do I get to spend any

This is an awesome video! I've seen this ship on the horizon a few times and it's incredible to see it up-close! What a history as well!
Currently working on LPD-29 which is a big bare bones rust bucket right now. Kinda crazy to see what it’ll end up looking like.

super excellent color for the control space's wall and ceiling. bulkheads being the dark shade is infinitely better than white.
THANK TOO MUCH FOR YOUR SHARING GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR TEAM🙌☕💖☕🙌
I weld the hulls of these types of ships. It's nice to see it in action and fully finished, a lot of work goes into these ships to function.
In the military, the function leads to the form, but this is one beautiful ship.
I enjoyed this video. I especially liked the part in the memorial room because I grew up in Arlington just a few miles south of the Pentagon.
Excellent!😼Very proud of all you guys. 🇺🇸😸
In the ship's infirmary do you have a physician or only navy corpsmen???
Watched her underway this week off NC shore from USCG Station Fort Macon. Impressive vessel.
I really like this presentation. Good Stuff.
My left ear loved this video!
my left ear enjoyed this
Was on Lpd Juneau and Lpd Denver during RimPAC 90. Semper Fi 86-91
I served on the U.S.S. Vancouver LPD-2
I served on LSD17 USS Catamount, 3years, pre the LPDs. Similer types of ships but much improved.
Wet well ops, hell yeah! Nobody goes anywhere without the Gator freighters. Ex USS Anchorage LSD-36. 🐊🐊🐊
Been there done that. USS Mt. Vernon (LSD-39)
Why does the Navy feed Sailors different depending on their rank, when they all pay the same amount for the food anyway?
They don’t pay for the food. They have separate messes for different ranks but they all eat the same thing.
Officers actually pay for their own food per navy tradition.

@@cruisinguy6024 We all pay for our own food. Enlisted pay automatically. Officers have to pay manually.

I served on a destroyer during the Vietnam war. The Arlington looks like a cruise ship in comparison.
Go Amphib Navy!!!! Former shipmate of USS TRENTON ( LPD-14)
Cool, nice Ship.

I noticed he did not mention the Goat Locker
Where is Arlington? In the US well, I mean it’s right there.
They never show where the marines stay. Given the purpose of the ship, that's kind of dumb.
This LPD should be at 260 lenght and 20 Wide and 20 high
My cousin is probably on the Tribute Wall, killed at Pentagon on 911.was Navy.Dan Shanower,my moms nephew.
His name is on the last panel (in front of the skipper in this video) left column, 2nd from the bottom.

May they forever RIP!
Never Forget 9/11
