Do I deserve to have my coffee card taken away from me for my favorite out of all these gas station coffees? Maybe or maybe not!
Also, of note, I included 7/11 and Plaid Pantry in this lineup because even though they're not gas stations in and of themselves, they're frequently attached to gas stations and it gave some more variation to our selection.

Just how I like it.
When I was home visiting family in NC, there was a gas station called Circle K. I went in to get a cup and I was shocked to see that there was a hopper filled with beans up top. I selected my cup size and type of bean, and it freshly ground for the single cup of coffee I ordered.
I'm not a coffee expert, but it was smooth and dark and not bitter. Literally perfect coffee. Better than I've ever made myself with my French press.
We have those in Florida as well, RaceTracs down here also have freshly ground coffee
Within the last year or so, I started really enjoying Circle K's coffee. I didn't notice that the machine changed, but I guess this was the reason the coffee tasted better. Also, starting last year in Kansas, they started doing this K Coffee and Krispy Kremes set. Not sure if they also do it anywhere else.
I went to circle k in south carolina. They had a whole coffee bar it was amazing. I got a latte and they had an actual barista that made it and made the typical heart but still, it was awesome. The espresso was smooth, fruity, and chocolaty. The best gas station coffee i have ever had. They dont have any where i love though. Wawa is the best i can get. Nowhere near the same.

If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend setting the RUclips playback speed higher. This is how I expect Morgan to sound fully caffeinated.

Finnish coffee culture is one-of-a-kind. It comes as a surprise for many that Finnish people consume the most coffee in the world per capita with our 10 kg consumption per person yearly. Though, Finland isn't known for its coffee culture even though it is deeply rooted into our culture
Had no idea! I'd love to visit that entire part of the world. Finland, Sweden, Denmark and they are climbing list! But Italy and Spain are my top two destinations (from Michigan)

i've never tasted a gas station or truck stop coffee that i could tolerate for more than a couple sips before i just threw it away and regretted wasting a couple bucks on nothing
You've made coffee less of a mystery for me. Thank you for presenting so intelligently, articulately, and in such an entertaining manner. I used to slam down my cup of black coffee before my workouts but I've become far more discriminating in my coffee choices because of you. Love your channel.
Kinda random but up here in Canada, the 7 Elevens have their coffee supplied from a coffee company my dad is a salesman for and their coffee is actually really high quality so it actually tastes good! As long as it’s brewed okay at the gas station lol.

Plaid Pantry used to brew Millstone. Not sure if it’s even around, but in the height of second wave coffee, it was one of the most popular middle of the road coffees (ie not for the snobs, but a little too fancy for canned coffee drinkers).
I sometimes wish I had a refined enough palette to actually taste "notes" in coffee. Every cup I've ever had, regardless of cost, all tastes like black death, cream, and sugar.
You should do best espresso in a can, I have found I like community coffee’s one the best.

I used to live in Kansas, so my gas station coffees were completely different: QuikTrip, KwikShop (owned by Kroger's), Casey's, and Circle K. There were also some others, but these four were the ones I had the most. If the road trip is ever going to happen, you should check them out!
Please try doing something like the best 'secret menu' coffee, I think that would be interesting!

Wawa definitely takes the cake in my area. There was a gas station called kangaroo, and surprisingly they had the best coffee before it closed.
I'd take a Wawa coffee over a regular coffee from Dunkin or Starbucks any day
As someone who's made the drive from NC to Oregon, and Oregon to NC, this year, Love's truck stops are the best place to stop. I can't speak for their coffee being the best, but they are the best, most reliable national chain I found. Also, any place with the new single serving, brew on demand machines is garbage. Watch the color of the "coffee" as it comes out. It's basically clear, and the machine creates a thick layer of "crema" on top, so you can't see how transparent your coffee really is in the cup.
I'm amazed how many gas stations do whole bean, now. A clerk at QT once told me it saves them money because they used to throw out so much coffee at the end of each day.
I have tried a few (QT and 7-Eleven) and found them to be an improvement, but generally too darkly roasted (even the ones that say light roast) and they never have a roasted on date. But, still, it's incredible that they do whole beans, ground on demand. That makes them 2nd wave in my book.
The new 711 coffee machines are awesome for cold and hot coffee.
What about best Donut shop coffees?? I know that’s even more specific to your local selection but it’s so fun to watch this experiment! Love a good donut shop coffee ☕️🍩

If you're ever in the south or Midwest please try QT, Sheetz, and Circle K. Circle K is the gassiest gas station of the 3 here but had pretty solid coffee when it was my only option on a few occasions

I live in NJ. The best gas station coffee by far is Wawa.

From my experience Hess, Cumberland Farms and 7eleven seen to have decent coffee when its made fresh.
My experience is that gas station coffee varies *a lot* from place to place. Also within the single gas station chains. Comes down to whether those that run it care about routines and such I guess.
Patrons at gas stations don't stop there for the gourmet coffee. As long as it is hot, decent and FRESHLY BREWED, it is a sale. Great video!
Edit to say that not all gas stations are owned by what type of gas they sell. Example: not all coffee sold at Chevron stations are the same. The Chevron station I work at sells Split Shift brand coffee, it is a proprietary product sold by our distributor. The Chevron on the other send of town sells Arcadia Bay coffee.
I guess the Folgers makes sense. There is probably a reason why it is a go to for basic coffee as it has a profile agreable to most people. It strives to be drinkable by lots of people.

Circle K has good coffee on the go. In Notway.
In Notway you pay 30usd eq. for the Circle K-cup. And you have free refill for the rest of the year. You just have to bring your cup.
But my favourie "coffee station" is Starbuck's. I really like their americano and ice/cold brew coffees!
You have to come to the upper Midwest so you can try Kwik Trip coffee! They usually have a number of options and some of them (usually the smaller ones) have machines that grind the beans to order and you can pick exactly how you want it (grind size, strong/reg/weak, etc), and there's always a good variety of syrups and what not. Plus eco friendly cups, lids, and stirrers. And on top of that, they have the best donuts and everything else you could possibly need!
I live in the Midwest and I love QuikTrip and Bucees! The best hands down.
No Sheetz? Their coffee is always pretty darn good for a gas station. They even do a cold brew that's actually palatable and dare I say, pleasant.

My father and I had to grab Folgers in a pinch once while on vacation in the boonies. We were willing to take whatever we could get but ended up being stans, it’s such a surprisingly solid coffee.

Honestly I would love to see a video testing all the coffees at 7-eleven! I'm always overwhelmed by the like twenty roasts they have at any given time so I'd love to know which one is the best

Tbh, Sheetz can iced coffee is pretty good.
I like sheetz because they have the cafe which means they have espresso.
I don't have any of these gas stations near me except Shell. If you ever come to the midwest, you have to try Thorntons and Casey's coffee. They use a machine that grinds each cup fresh seconds before brewing and have some of the best gas station coffee around.
Take a trip to the East Coast and try out Wawa coffee.
If you ever find yourself getting a coffee at a Stewart's in Upstate NY, make sure to also grab some ice cream!

The best brewed dirt would still taste like dirt. Keurig coffee is reserved for the inner circles of hell. It's not even bad coffee, it's so underextracted it doesn't meet the definition for being considered coffee.

since you're going to italy please try caffè d'orzo aka barley "espresso"! i tried it on my italy trip and it was a very weird experience; highly recommended!
In the uk generally petrol stations have a starbucks pr costa express machine. So the coffee is constant where ever you go just check they look clean. There not quite shop quality but they are pretty passable.
Was hoping for quick trip one of my favorite places to go.
I had a pod machine and got one of those reusable pods as the start of my coffee journey. It made great hot chocolate and okay coffee. Now I'm into coffee for real and obviously have much better equipment. But when I was making single cups it was nice honestly.
The way your talking and reviewing coffee is how we talk and review cigars, the changes in strength flavour profiles in the first, second and final third, very similar to how you're doing your coffee, me personally I go for more single-origin coffee they have more balance and consistency, and if I have a medium to full bodied cigar I pair it with a medium to full-bodied dark roast coffee to bring out the more of the cigars flavour profile and the same with the cigar it brings out the rich creaminess of the coffee. So far I've watched five of your videos and there great 🍻🤙

There’s a place out in Maryland and at least Delaware called RoyalFarms. Like the Circle K that a lot of people are describing, they have machines that you just press, and it automatically grinds the beans and makes a coffee of your choosing for you. They actually have some fairly light looking roasts.

God I wish you lived anywhere near a Stewarts Shop. Gas station, convienience store, coffee shop, ICE CREAM SHOP. Stewarts ice cream is so good, and since they are also an ice cream store, they have an iced affogato you can get called "Night Owl", which UGH. So damn good.
Whenever you do make the cross country trip you need to go to Buckees, it is a Midwest gas station/store.

If you are ever on the East Coast, specifically The Delaware Valley or in Florida, you need to try Wawa. Although not all Wawa's have gas stations attached to them as they started as Convenience Stores. Their coffee is some that I like and would wonder your opinion on it.

To be honest, I grew up drinking Folgers coffee and I would say it's definitely a solid choice for the mass produced coffees
the big Charlton Plaza reststop on the Massachusetts Turnpike have a attached gas-station store/mart and it has an entire counter for coffees with 'fresh' beans waiting in their hoppers to be freshly ground on-demand per order in some super-automatic coffee-drink-maker machine thing. I haven't tried it yet but I'm possibly headed back that way soon and I've become more and more curious to actually try it and see how it is.
I worked in a gas station back in the day and, in my experience, the machine cleaning for some of those coffee makers is pretty hit-and-miss. It really depends on the store management and the individual workers. 24 hour stations may not have a specific downtime to run cleaning cycles (or they may have a downtime that they don't actually follow). You can really taste the difference when the urns have been cleaned regularly vs. when they haven't.
also, for anyone in the comments: if you get a small cup of gas station coffee from a tank machine (not one of the brew-on-demand ones) and it's cold, just dump it and get a new cup. A lot of those tanks have a tube that feeds from the tank to the spout, and a small cup's worth will cool in the tank between dispenses. The stuff in the tank is probably fine.

@@icowrich Ig? I've been to many 711 where they have pot fulls of coffee and there's also the coffee machines. But ngl I prefer the coffee in the pot where you can pour it yourself :)
@@Sam_Drawz At least at the bigger fancier 7-Elevens (I tend to go to those because the bathrooms are clean) have banks of machines with about a dozen hoppers in them with a choice of beans from many different countries at different roast levels. You push a button and it grind the beans on demand. Like I said in another comment in this thread, the "roast levels" seem to be different shades of dark to medium-dark roasts, and I doubt the freshness of the beans. But, they're a BIG improvement on those pots of coffee, IMO.
@@icowrich true! 711 really improved with their coffee varieties and sanitation. I still love the coffee there but I just prefer the pots of coffee because it tastes better to me? Thats just my opinion/taste buds but either way 711 is getting better and I enjoy the coffee there in any form.

Wawa's coffee is the best gas station coffee hands down. The urns are always fresh, and they even offer single origins!
My parents pretty much exclusively buy Folgers dark roast, mainly because my dad is one of those "Extreme Couponers", so he can get like 20 of the plastic tubs for super cheap. 😂😂😂
Personally, I'm not a fan. Maybe it's how our coffee machine brews it, but it's always been pretty acidic to me, regardless of temperature and regardless of how much creamer I add.
Try their breakfast blend. Super smooth and mellow.
Somewhere I went to they have a Wolfgang Puck coffee machine. You could choose different flavors and styles, for about 75 cents, and the machine would make it hot for you. Set up like Coca Cola vending machine except it doesn’t have bottles or anything. All freshly made.
I purchased a French press which all I need hot water. Love it.
You need to go to an actual "Extra Mile" Chevron Gas Station. They brew premium coffee there and every two hours, they change and brew fresh coffee.
If you ever make it to Pennsylvania, Sheetz has machines that freshly grind your coffee. Nice selection of types and flavors.

The Royal Farms gas stations have good coffee too ,
Between WaWa Sheetz and Royal Farms Pennsylvanians have good choices.

In the UK many petrol (gas) stations have Costa Express self-service machines. Costa Coffee is the largest coffee shop chain in the UK, owned by The Coca-Cola Company since 2019. I wonder if they will be introduced into the US in the future.

You've Probly done something like this already. I've recently wanted to get into making cold brew coffee but I am over whelmed in how much information I find on measurements and stories of uncle's and cousins cruzing the boardwalk lol. Any way. Can you do a video on cold brew coffees and how to measure for making say 4 cups to say making a gallon jug full for a work week morning coffee.
What about the bean to cup machines at gas stations and truck stops? Have you tried them and have you been able to figure out what they're doing? Are they making something closer to an Americano?
Sometimes the coffee is decent and it's always fresh.
I purchase shoes from thrift stores. And some from discount stores .
I also love gas station coffee.
The best is Cumberland Farms. Irving is great too.
My favorite coffees and teas have an earthy taste.
Our local Kum and Go stations have whole bean coffee and a machine that grinds and brews it with the press of a button.

I was genuinely wondering what the rejected coffees would have tasted like with cream, especially the, "peanut butter," one...
This also made me wonder about differences in how each coffee was kept warm. Since some of them you either saw being brewed or made yourself, it suggests that some may have been held in a carafe on a heating element and/or in an insulated carafe. This would have such an impact on taste, that a place might have excellent coffee that's being destroyed by sitting too long or being kept over heat.
The question is do you want a piping hot coffee on a road trip
