    Fun fact: the problem of how to get to each fast food spot once in the fastest order is called the Traveling Salesman problem in computer science and it's a big open unsolved (and possibly *unsolvable*) question

    • @thermitebanana
      @thermitebanana 3 года назад +5

      It's solvable, but it gets progressively more difficult for each additional stop, but it's solvable and tractable for for small numbers (also, depends on the distribution, if they're all on the highway, or on a circuit, you don't need to spin up a whole lot of computing power on AWS to solve it perfectly)

The woman was unfairly maligned, the coffee was beyond just "hot," her injuries were gruesome and she only wanted them to cover the medical bills, it was the judge who awarded the punitive damages (which was equivalent to 2 days of coffee sales for McDonald's) and that amount was later reduced and the woman didn't get nearly that amount anyway.

    Just found your channel. I love, love, love coffee 😃!! I am originally from Guatemala and our coffee is considered "weak." However, some Guatemalan coffee that I've gotten here in the US is strong and too bitter for my taste. Not sure if you ever would like to try it, but the Guatemalan coffee from Boca Java is the best, but in the coffee maker, you have to do 8 oz of water per tablespoon to get the flavor just right. My other favorite one it's the Detroit bold Woodward Ave. Same ratio 8 oz/1 tablespoon.

    I think this is an experiment worth repeating to see if you get consistent results. It's not just the coffee they use, but how fresh the pot is, the water they use, the condition of the brewer, and how careful the staff is making the batch. I have found that same drive-up window that gave me a decent cup on Tuesday gave me lousy coffee on Thursday.

      I think the problem here is that quality is going to vary a LOT based on how busy they are, which impacts how often they make new coffee and how long the old coffee sits around. I drink a lot of Tim Hortons, and they have a fairly exhaustive set of processes for ensuring fresh coffee, and even there I'll see a wide range of quality depending on how well the staff is keeping up.

    I saw a 7-11 in Dallas that served drip coffee from whole bean. The beans were pretty dark and oily, as one would expect. There was no roasted on date, so I don't expect they're very fresh. But it's certainly progress to grind right before brewing!

    I get a large McD's coffee at the drivethru near my house on my way to work and by the time I finish my 20 to 30 minute commute it is the ideal temperature and very drinkable. 7-11 is my favorite cheap coffee though I wouldn't exactly call it fast food. The big advantage there is that they have a lot of different varieties and since its self-service, you can mix and match.

  • @PartyPandaMoo

    most fastfood chains use the same roaster and usually the same beans, but it's cool to see how they brew it to make it taste differently. I used to work at the factory that would roast the beans and take home their iced coffee mix that already has creamer in it. nothing is better than a fresh roasted coffee 😋

    Hmm... interesting. I almost always add cream to coffee, and I didn't realize it could bring out bitterness.
    I'm curious, then, if you happen to read this, Morgan.
    What do you think of Starbucks? I've never had anything from there that wasn't just overwhelmingly, inedibly bitter to my palate. Even their super-sweet Frappuccinos and the like, while very sweet, are simultaneously unbearably bitter. Their lightest roasts to me taste like the darkest roasts at something like a Tim Horton's or Caribou, and I often say that everything at Starbucks tastes like someone emptied an old stale ashtray into it before brewing.
    Could this be because of the cream? Is Starbucks coffee just not cream-friendly? Or is my palate just _that different_ from most people's? Because to me, Starbucks' popularity is an absolute mystery to me. I'd honestly rather drink some old, burnt coffee at a car repair shop that's been sitting on the hot plate for six hours than anything from Starbucks. xD And I'd _much_ rather something like just a Folgers instant.

    Very interesting review and it goes to show you how different everyone's tastes are. A lot of different reviews I've seen have all put Mcdonalds coffee as up towards the top in the fast food game. Personally I find it pretty smooth and very inoffensive. Easy to drink.

    i use to drink McD coffee every day for like 5 years. It was cheap, and started the morning with it before going to work. They must have changed their supplier or changed how they wanted their profile to be a few years back. Maybe it was due to covid? That was about the time it changed. Because it is not very good anymore. It is now very much like how you have described.
