My husband is active enlisted on subs. I will be joining as a officer when I graduate with my BSN. It will definitely be a change, but I am so used to Navy life already lol

What is your scope of practice like as a navy RN vs. as a civilian RN? Are there things that you can/cannot do in the navy vs. in the civilian world? I know a couple corpsmen who are techs and they say that they could do WAY more in the navy vs what they can do in a civilian hospital. Is the same true for nurses?

Cory Litzau This is a really good question. Yes, Corpsmen are able to do more than civilian techs but the same is not true for nurses. Navy RN’s have the same scope of practice as civilian RN’s.

Hello ma’am, do you know how it works with co-location for an officer married to enlisted service member?

Sydney Lewis The Navy tries to keep you close to your spouse as much as possible. Sometimes you get lucky and are at the same command or same base. Sometimes you are on different bases and will have to choose a place to live where it is the midpoint between you and your spouse’s job.

Hi me and my husband both want to join at the same time we have 3 kids and my mom is willing to stay with the kids while we join... Will we be able to stick together if we attend bootcamp and the same A school? (HM) We don't really want to be separated from each other..

Hi! It is very difficult to say if you will be able to be together the entire time. The Navy definitely tries to keep spouses together. I don’t see why you couldn’t stay together if you go to boot camp and the same A school though. 🤷‍♀️ I know a couple who did that and it was fine. When you are joining, just make sure you tell the recruiter that and get it in writing.

Hello! I appreciate all your videos. I am a new grad Float RN, civilian. My husband is a Naval SARC, E5. Would joining the Navy as a commissioned officer (RN), make it easier or more difficult for us to be together? I.E. how common is it that military couples are actually stationed together? Would our different job titles and deployments keep us apart more than if I stayed civilian? How much overlap is there between SARC assignments/duties and nurses'? Thanks for all your great content. P.S. I actually am interested in joining the Navy, not just for marital reasons :).

Rose Pineau There is always a chance that you or your husband will be deployed, have to go to training, and be away from each other. That is the nature of being in the military. But, the Navy does try to keep dual active duty spouses together as much as possible. Since you’re married, the Navy can match your rotation dates so you leave a duty station together and arrive at your next duty station together. I would say being dual active duty makes it more difficult to be together than if you are a civilian, but if you want to go active duty, don’t let that deter you.

I really want to be in a military branch! I have considered being a Navy sailor but I’ve also considered being a Navy nurse! I love nursing and that’s what I’ve always wanted to be what is their general salary

In regards to what the military will pay nurses it almost always depends on rank and how many years that have been in. You can definitely Google "Military nurse pay chart" and it should give you an estimate or base pay.😊
