Heard a quartet play this piece two days ago and i can't stop listening to it now! It was so magical and thrilling to see in person, i wish i could relive the moment :-)
What a superb quartet. They interpreted this lovely work so in keeping with the score, yet they gradually added depth and colour sometimes unexpectedly, in a way that lifted the whole for me. And wow! That glorious last movement. Thanks.
Well said. I have been listening to the Brahms piano trios with Katchen, Suk, and Starker and the piano is simply too loud, making it hard to hear the violin.
This is the first time I heard a Rondo alla Zingara with a very pungent Gypsy style and rhytmic attitude, and I LOVE the flavor of it. Those that take it rather slowly just feels anemic for me. The group definitely meshed together very well. Wished they do the complete Brahms quartets.
Love the music. On a completely non-musical note: when there is a female player she is usually the only one dressed in a colour - the men are all in black. It would be a nice change if the female was the only one in black.
I felt impressed until the last movement, however sometimes I was disoriented in pulsation, too much fog. I was playing it and I really cannot remember in the final those all ornaments and appoggiaturas. And, well, someone can say it's fastest one. No, it isn't. I find it more klezmer, no gipsy style.
Peter Johnston Exactly. There are no metronome markings, just presto, meno presto and the like. At the end Molto Presto. This last bit is only very slightly quicker than on the Gilels/Amadeus recording of the early 70s. And a shade more exhilarating as a result.

Another fantastic Brahms chamber work. An electric performance. Great ensemble and the pianist was from another planet!
Gave me chills...great dynamics and wonderfully passionate interpretation!
Good pianist !!! He is relaxed and expressive.
0:15 I. Allegro
13:42 II. Intermezzo. Allegro non troppo
21:24 III. Andante con moto
32:02 IV. Rondo alla Zingarese
Thank you fellow cellist

Of all the versions I've listened to, I have never heard a piano recorded any better. Really incredible. Kudos to the engineers!
I know this is a late response, but yes,I hear it quite well too! Not too faint or overpowering...well balanced. Kudos to them indeed!
Also late response, but also kudos to them.

Have the heard the orchestral version arranged by Schonenberg, the most thrilling ever.
Fun to see the sharp increase of audience for the last movement :)
Brahms music makes me so happy, from L,A.
Such a great and wonderful group. Absolutely beautiful.
Magnifique ! Fantasztikus mû egy csodálatos zongorás négyes elõadásában.
The first theme section is so stunning that when the second theme enters at 1:55 it's almost too much emotion for me to bear
I know EXACTLY how you feel!
One of the best brahms
I heard this yesterday as an orchestration in Turku. It was a great experience! The concert was conducted by Kensho Watanabe.
Wow!!! Just wow that coda!!!
Wow, Brahms sure knows how to bring things to a finish.
wonderful!~!
I love
Brahms music.but i've heard this quartet for the first time.
it's very exquisite.
i want to hear Shoenberg's arranged version too.
I'm in love with this theme 18:50

Brilliant 💎🎶🌟
Sounded like they were about to piss themselves at the end. I felt that way too. Still, for me, the best performance of this piece on RUclips.
Excellent performance!
Thank you for your wonderful performance from daegu city in Korea
34:45 is just amazing
Jean Pouzaud 35:18 too
Fabulous!

Brilliant! Great performance! 👏👏👏
It is awesome!
They certainly know their onions when it comes to Brahms !!
Excellent performance of an amazing work..!
Grazie ❤
excellent performance!
32:02 for my own reference
When Brahms composes in the minor key look for black roses, elegant depression, and raging turmoil.
good~!
without ads, do you guys really think there is youtube? providing you free videos?
This program was broadcasted on Japanese TV, not intended for RUclips. You can see some Japanese scription on top right corner...
Great Johannes
excellent!!!
To allow advertisement to interrupt such supreme music making is obscene!
bravo!
23:21 It's reassuring to know that even professionals get whistling E strings sometimes.
The last movement really has that Hungarian influence
Love that intermezzo. Great performance. Like it better than the shonberg orchestration.

13:42 II. Intermezzo. Allegro non troppo
These adds completely ruin the flow of this piece... let it keep it's integrity RUclips!
They've only gone and got rid of the ads, just when I was getting used to them. 👎 bastards!

Why not that each one be with a different wearing?
😌
Wait... there are ads right in the middle of the movement?!!! At least put them between the movements or something! That's truly jarring!😱
the piano overpowers the strings
grande pianista

A little too fast for my liking.

great technical skill for the last bars but WAYYYY too fast...
Nonsense - that last section can never be way too fast. That's where the exhilaration comes from.

Hurbii Brahms writes Molto Presto
Well the train leaves in 5 minutes.... no just kidding ;)
The pianist lacks tonal weight.
what's tonal weight mate ?
Bullshit
@@mathieuhua8342 yeah, I’ve been playing for 30+ years and I still don’t know 😂
Slightly too fast
Michael D which movement?
I think he is referring to the the 4th movement. I liked the tempo--it gave the piece a Hungarian/Roma flair. Found myself dancing in my seat!
