- On April 5 the Polish FLARIS LAR1 jet engineered by the Metal-Master company took to the skies for the first time from the Zielona Gora Babimost Airport.
Wieslaw Cena, an experienced and outstanding experimental pilot, sat at the controls of FLARIS LAR1.

The wing and tail feathers are very impressive! The whole design has great appeal. I wish the best luck to the Polish aviator group who produced this. I hope to see many of these flying soon!
Serdeczne gratulacje. Szczerze mówiąc obawiałem się że ten samolot już nigdy nie poleci i nareszcie po tak długim czasie udało się wykonać na nim lot. Wyrazy uznania za odwagę dla pilota, oraz inżynierów i konstruktorów tej wspaniałej maszyny. Życzę wszystkiego dobrego i dalszych sukcesów w rozwoju konstrukcji. Mam nadzieję że wkrótce będą obecne na Polskim niebie a także na całym świecie. Aby Polska myśl techniczna w lotnictwie znów zyskała uznanie na świecie tak jak to było w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym. Jeszcze raz serdecznie gratuluję.

@@d.richards.6410 Badania w tunelu musiały potwierdzić, że takie usytuowanie wlotu powietrza zapewnia dobre zasilanie. Nic tu do rzeczy nie ma rzekome zasłonięcie silnika. Liczy się ciśnienie na wlocie.

Ten samolot mógłby być platformom dla dużego polskiego drona. Polska projektuje i produkuje wiele małych dronów, to jest czasem ich zaletą, ale małe drony są bardzo podatne na wpływ pogody. Dobrze było by mieć większe drony i nie kupować ich zagranicą. Opracowanie drona na podstawie takiego samolotu niebyło by super tajnym projektem, więc firma mogła by sprzedawać go zagranica naszym sojusznikom. Panowie, Panowie pomyślcie o tym.

rather like cirrus vision jet .....
It's like cirrus but better, cirrus has many unnecessary applications that increase weight and decrease the range. This is way more practical.

Francisco André Gonçalves, jets are expensive to operate. This is the nature of the beast. FLARIS will not change that.
Very nice. The aerodynamics of the design suggest it would GLIDE well, in case of "flame-out". Quite interesting aircraft there !

Looks a bit like a heinkel salamanda, but this is indeed a beautiful modern design. 14000m service ceiling? (Is that still controlled airspace?=) I want one!

Nice looking light jet ! Only thing I'd want to change would be to hinge the doors from the top. That rear hinge looks like an accident waiting to happen.
I love how the video wasn't too long. Nice simplistic aircraft design. They probably had fuel economy in mind when they created it.

I agree, the Cirrus is definitely not sexier than the Flaris.
Wrong. 1 more seat (which you will never use). The Flaris is nearly 100mph faster, Stalls 6 mph slower, Can operate off short fields and even grass. Has significantly more range, much higher service ceiling AND (here's the real kicker) is approx 2/3rds of the price of the Cirrus. Oh and did I mention it is WAY sexier than the Cirrus. Now tell me how the Cirrus is 'nicer'???

Suicide doors? I guess If one opens during flight, you won't have to worry about closing it. Nice looking!
Why do you have to open the door during the flight? The door can be opened during the flight and that's well.

With hinges on the leading edge, if the pilot keeps her wits about her, it barely qualifies as an emergency. With hinges on the aft edge, unless they are designed to break away, it’s an almost certainly fatal crash.
Well I suppose you could have the engine run in reverse and have the aircraft fly in the opposite direction (um, can you say canard?)
Sure, that may seem like taking the long way around to avoid a possible calamity due to a controversial design issue, but at least you wouldn’t have to reorient the door hinge placement.
You want no suicide doors? Voila! You got ‘em!
I have been flying for over 30 years and have had doors not properly latch (seemed to have latched) and open in flight on a Beech Baron, Beech Bonanza, Cessna Cardinal, and Piper Arrow. It does happen. A couple of these, I was not the PIC. Ask any pilot that has several hours under their belt. Some of you people think you just close the door like on your car and it is ok, nope!
A prototype ATOL crashed and burned precisely due to this reason. There was a pen inside the door frame that prevented the latching. Neither pilot noticed, and after takeoff the door opened blocking the airflow to the engine causing the plane to drop fast.
That would make a good drone and a fast one too

The pilot was wearing a parachute before entering and getting seated. The actual take off is not shown and the pilot emerged from the aircraft without the parachute.
Rear hinged doors!! wouldn't like to think what would happen if one of those popped open in flight!
Pressurized cabin too, so there are likely multiple safe guards to prevent that.

On first test Flight pilots never retract the gear just in case. You can go and see all videos of any aircraft small or large, they never retract the landing gear on first test flight that's usually done on the second test Flight.
Looks like a gorgeous evolution of the salamander as many people wrote. ¿Is it as unstable as the Salamander was?
