probably?! only two alternatives I've seen are girl who doesn't do research, and awkward guy who talked to the black lips for like 15 minutes about garbage pail kids!
These songs will always remind me of a trip to Illinois. Specifically Iota, I distinctly remember playing that song, while sufficiently sleep deprived on the plane ride over middle America. it was such a beautiful moment of music discovery, wherein the atmosphere and the content of the song melded so perfectly, the cabin noise and commotion somehow finding common ground with the calm and reassurance of the lyrics. So much hope, I think I finally found it.
Love this. There are women (and men) who write their own songs and sing them the way they want to. When people think that women have to sound "pretty" when they sing I feel so sad for their limited point of view and the music they feel they must enjoy. Music isn't about making you feel good (all the time). It is about expression. You don't have to care for it, but don't be a dick about the things you don't like.
+R5d4d2 super bummed that literally every single video of angel olsen has some sort of comment about her body or her looks. get correct. its 2015 and women CLEARLY have so much more to offer than simply being the object of your gawking.
Probably after the early Sun Records years - try the songs "In Dreams" ( Also the album title) & "Crying" - they hang out on the edges of town like Angels songs do
I hear some Joani Mitchell, Kristine Leschper from Mothers, a little Aimee Mann, and even some dr. Dog and Bob Dylan in her voice. And with the band its just amazing.
Cheryl is probably the best host on KEXP.
Matt G she needs to host a murder mystery show in NBC.
lol :D

Matt Cheryl is the beating heart of KEXP
Cheryl IS the best host.

I get what you’re saying but I also find her voice very pretty and makes me feel good haha
💯
"Full Performance". She's just stood there, eyes wide open. Fucking love it!!
saw Angel Olsen (this band comp) live - easily one of the best shows I have ever seen, great songs, great musicianship, cheers!!!
That thousand yard stare... I love this performance.
God damn. What a voice, what a style, what a babe.
I often wonder if Angel truly understands how beautiful she is.

+Jillian Musielak
Blah, blah, blah. I admire her. Mind, body and soul.
P.S. Angel is gorgeous. I'm not blind. 17:09
+R5d4d2 its not "blah, blah, blah." its the way things are and it sucks and each time you ''blah, blah, blah" it away, it gets worse.
+Jillian Musielak Shut up. It's not sexist to compliment someone on their looks.
+Finley Ratcliffe it is when the majority of comments on a video of woman playing music are about that woman's looks instead of her talent.
Uttterly fantastic. Kudos!! She can write, controls her voice, great footprint. I await future work with great interest!!
Incredible rendition of Sweet Dreams.
Cheryl's description of Lights out is so spot on
"So nice"
headline- "Woman Carries Rock and Roll on Her Back" love this b
I really love sound of her songs recorded live here on KEXP! She's definitely one of my favorites.
This is such a powerful and practiced performance ! Amazing !
I love that hi-five is basically a country song, but toward the end it has like groovy garagey/punky breakdowns
This is my Angel Olsen
Her smile at 13:38 That little change at 1:33 . Her scarf. Guitar out of tune, whatever. Love it!
Aww man got her new album and I'm so happy she's on KEXP!!!! YES!!
First time I ever see Angel Olsen in person. Her voice and attitude kind of remind me of a cool Dolly Parton.
Hell Yeah Angel Rocks!!! Love her! love her style! Love her looks!!! Hey KEXP thanks so much for bringing us all of these amazing artists!!!!
Just what I needed right now, loving this band.
I've been listening to this on repeat. Love them!
Great live cinematography! great performance. Great artist.
The host seems like the most wholesome sweet and chill lady
hope to see her soon again on KEXP with her new album
great stuff, love that guitar shes using too! nothin like getting a vintage sound with a vintage guitar i dont care how many fancy pedals you got.
Angel Olsen is legit!
Def!
First time hearing these guys, beautiful!
I truly love the strangly (outta) tuned snare in forgiven/forgotten
I noticed that, and it drives me nuts, but not in a good way.
There is a Roy Orbison spirit in her.
wish i was in this band!
She's significantly better live.
Even the recorded version of Shut Up Kiss Me is so good though. I'm legit obsessed with that song right now.
+Matthew Norman crazy good
Same here, it's insanely good.
This just convinced me to see her live this fall
can’t wait to see what big time holds after watching the progression of her sound
she's sooooo talented
Joni Mitchell, Kurt Cobain, Roy Orbison, Lord have mercy this is gorgeous.
i love every fckng thing about angel!!!!
Sounds awesome! Great job on this.
She channels Roy Orbison.
agreed
Could you recommend an album by Roy Orbison that resembles Angel Olsen?
Probably after the early Sun Records years - try the songs "In Dreams" ( Also the album title) & "Crying" - they hang out on the edges of town like Angels songs do
Leonard Cohen too
J.B.N. good call

this is very good !
Jaunty numbers.
Seen her at primavera sound, few days ago. An incredible performance. One to watch.
Her voice reminds me a lot of Tom Verlaine from Television. I dig it.
Such an inspiration.
she always has cool guitars
She is sensible and smart. Much more than average man.
Total badass.
I've been waiting so long for this!!!!!!!!!!!! finally!!
I LOVE YOU ANGEL

i love her eyes looking everywhere while playing 11:37
So many feels!
I hear some Joani Mitchell, Kristine Leschper from Mothers, a little Aimee Mann, and even some dr. Dog and Bob Dylan in her voice. And with the band its just amazing.

Great stuff. Like to hear her perform some Hank Williams songs.
i want to make a time machine to go back and put a shirt or something over that snare.
+skin conditions that central snare for sure
Muito bom
She's a great singer that I discovered recently. Because of Sky Ferreira's hint. :)
LindAaa
LOVE
Sonic Youth influence, guitar and drums sound.
Sounds like the velvets. Totally class
tremendo el sonido
Holy shittttt
The second song is really good.
She reminds me of Ellie from Wolf Alice
Oh I could hear a resemblance
Does anyone realized the lead guitarist's t-shirt has something wrong? :3
1:49 cheeky tongue from the drummer
Forgiven/Forgetten needs to have some distortion on the vocals. It adds so much to the studio version.
dat voice
Nice
lights out.
Fender body Gibson head?
esse narizim
10/10 and cute as a button. Would take out for Pizza.
JuanKallot are you sure you can afford that? she's only a 10/10
Pizza? Hell, a classy dame like this deserves Long John Silver's!
