I love the way you repeatedly emphasize that we need to look at this as PLAY instead of work. I love your whimsy, I love your serious work and I love the way you present when you paint. It’s like I’m sitting in the room with you and we’re just painting together. You really are so much help and are such an easy teacher to listen to. I just wanted you to hear that because you sound like you could use some love, even if it’s from the peanut gallery far far away.
PS- had to laugh at the love lorn rooster adding to the ambiance.

It may not be “high” art but it’s warm, colorful and there’s an energy that I get from it and you that makes me smile all over!! Something if I looked at it, I would never even think to try anything like it, but watching the process I REALLY do want to. And it is a no pressure just for funs. So, thank you for posting it. We still learn and are inspired and comforted that even someone who creates regularly still can make something they do not fully approve of. I love the little tracing paper sketch. I haven't looked yet but I hope it is posted in the available sketches. Even if we can just have it to look at really helps as we draw.

You used quite a lot of materials and in the end you where not sure if you liked it. You even grumbled asking yourself being to old 😅😅. I liked the underpainting with all the fitting colors. Also the moment where you sad you didn't like your painting and went on. All you added afterwards made it better I think. Have a nice day Wim 😊

One comment about painting and talking at the same time- we use to think that the more multi-tasking we do the better. But they have found that’s not true. We should focus on one thing at a time. I liked this, Diane….it reminds me somewhat of a ‘Folk Art’…ish type of style.
There is an artist named Natasha Newton on YT that you may have heard of and this reminded me of her.
She is a young artist….very sweet and humble, and sometimes she talks about favourite art books that have inspired her.
I recently bought two beautiful books , “Cozy Days, The Art of Iraville”, and “Imagine a Forest”, by Dinara Mirtalipova which is also a really gorgeous book featuring the author’s designs and inspirations for enchanting folk art.
Both books are of excellent quality and presentation and quite different from anything I have previously bought.
Yes….’Stage Fright’ just about sums it up, and I had never thought of it in that way before, even tho’ I had tried to analyse it…..but you are spot on with that description !

When I stayed in London for a month in 2007, I stayed on Trevor Place, in a below ground/basement room in a Georgian townhouse around the corner from Montepelier Square where some of the Forsytes "lived" - a lovely area with houses covered in walls of wisteria. Tickled me no end. (Sounds like you and I are of the same generation - I'm an American but soaked up all those British series on TV and literature like a big sponge. So I felt quite a home over there - mystified a bit but loving it. Especially the museums!) The US AF flies (low) over my home all the time - I'm in their flight line (the international airport's too).

The only thing I would've loved to see was the purple mountains majesty and a little more snow. But I found the painting as a whole so very cozy and fun. Thank you so much. As always I enjoyed this tremendously and look forward to your next painting. XOXOJANE

Fun to watch you as you go at it! Reminds how the light changes colors as it bounces off of the "Rimrocks" that surround our city. At times it changes everything to gold. Plus Montana sunsets blaze in our sunset skies. I enjoyed this segment a lot. Right now we are enjoying a giant orange moon. 🌻

As a Dane, I was looking forward to hear, what you would say about hygge. But then I thought that everything you do on this channel is pure hygge. To do something that makes you and others happy. Actuallly, Diane, you could be danish. ❤️🇩🇰

Hi Ulla, thanks so much for your lovely comment! I think I probably do have Danish blood, and one of my oldest friends is Danish… I love the concept of Hygge - and do try to follow the principles in my videos and paintings xxx I’ll be expanding on this in the next video! Thanks again and sending hugs!

I think it’s quite lovely - up close and from a distance. :) It’s all a matter of perspective I suppose - I know my art disasters are way less presentable than this, and I think it’s a lovely scene you created. May my disasters come out as good as yours! Haha. :)

Oh, I adored the Forsythe Saga back in the sixties! I had two babies and lived in a small dusty town. It gave me a view of the world beyond me.

I’ve just discovered your channel and I love it. The whimsical paintings are beautiful and the colours are gorgeous. Very autumnal. I’ve subscribed. 😊
Just a side note……’I, Claudius’ was first shown in the UK in 1976. My most favourite classic series of all time.
