Liv Tyler is an American actress and former model. She is the daughter of Aerosmith's lead singer, Steven Tyler, and model Bebe Buell.
Tyler began a career in modeling at the age of 14, but, after less than a year, she decided to focus on acting. After her film debut Silent Fall (1994), she appeared in supporting roles in Empire Records (1995), Heavy (1996) and That Thing You Do! (1996). Tyler later achieved critical recognition in the leading role in Bernardo Bertolucci's Stealing Beauty (1996), playing a teenage girl visiting her deceased mother's artist friends in Italy. She followed this by appearing in supporting roles including Inventing the Abbotts (1997) and Robert Altman's black comedy Cookie's Fortune (1999).
Tyler achieved international recognition with her portrayal of Elf maiden Arwen Undómiel in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001-2003). She has appeared in an eclectic range of films, including the 2004 comedy Jersey Girl, the indie film Lonesome Jim (2005), the drama Reign Over Me (2007) and big-budget studio films such as Armageddon (1998), the home invasion horror film The Strangers (2008) and The Incredible Hulk (2008).
In 2014, Tyler made her television debut on the HBO series The Leftovers in a regular role.
She has served as a United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador for the United States in 2003, and as a spokesperson for Givenchy's line of perfume and cosmetics.

Some of those questions were so inappropriate and intrusive it made me cringe. "Did your mum know that Todd wasn't your father?" ...seriously? I thought the people at Oxford would be a bit more polite than your average tabloid interviewers, but I guess not. Liv took it in her stride, but it makes me so glad I'm not a celebrity. Millions of people feeling entitled to pry rudely into your family life, it's like selling your soul.

She dated David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Page just to name a few and while she was with Todd Rundgren, she slept with Steven Tyler and got knocked up! Surely, Liv Tyler has heard the same question before!

I really value her honesty about feeling nervous speaking in interviews and in front of large numbers. She does not try to put on a facade and there is no arrogance about her. How refreshing and down to earth!

She was actually incredibly sweet, humble and likeable. Though it can appear some people get very fortunate in life. For one, she's absolutely drop dead beautiful, so I don't think getting into the business was ever going to be difficult; but she has definitely held her own in the sphere and seems genuinely open to pushing her work in interesting ways. I also like her she understands her role, is in service to the stories; which evidential shines though. I think getting the breaks + plus having ability + mindset, gets you basically all the way.

Very impressive how she handled the question regarding "the father issue".. what a class act.. True American Royalty.. if there was one.. it's her..
This is the best interviewer Oxford could produce for this event? Shameful. Tone deaf, intrusive and frankly rude. Also not good at interviewing at all. You don’t go in with someone’s familial trauma, then ask unfairly direct questions over and over again when the guest has indicated they’re shy and feeling ill at ease. You also need to LISTEN to what the guest says and respond to their answers not just say ‘great’ and go into the next question. It’s meant to be a conversation. Liv was so gracious and polite - and was clearly genuinely excited to do this event and he was just utterly cringe worthy.
A wonderful example of the Oxford average overconfident and overprivileged mediocre man. Clueless and talentless, devoid of sensitivity, empathy, brilliance or charisma - yet there he is, in the spotlight.

I'll be frank here, I clicked because this was the first video that poped up when I search "Liv Tyler voice".
I have an actor friend who is very critical of those who do not go to drama school. I made her watch Liv as Lady Isabella in Harlots, Season 2. The way she uses her entire body to interpret a character. She is amazing. You can’t “teach” her uniqueness in drama school. 👏👏for the interview🇺🇸
In fairness, she's been acting for 25 years, alongside some very distinguished names who gave her good advice (which they no doubt learned at drama school!). Liv herself has said that her career has been her drama school, especially the early years. She didn't come to the business that self-possessed.
cheryl balukonis That's near you say that. Her work in Harlots was the first time I really noticed what a good actor she is. The expressions that pass over her face - and yes, the way she uses her stature in those scenes is riveting. I'm not usually much for series but if Hulu doesn't renew Harlots, I may cry.

I would say she was made for the movie screen - she loves the intimacy of the camera and it even shows up in her first movies - her mother recognized it too - a unique and rare quality - she manages to project her real life charisma onto her characters so the viewer is drawn in

It is Liv’s empathy that comes across incredibly in film. Just watching The Incredible Hulk, strangely enough, shows this clearly.
Marvel fans despise that film but I really like it. I’m a sucker for those kinds of King Kong/Beauty and the Beast stories and of course Liv Tyler is so beautiful she could tame anything.

I would be disingenuous not to say how much I've admired the young gentleman who has hosted these many magnificent guests. Its an enormous responsibility to chair such stars in their fields. Although that was usually to do with smoking. It doesn't age well. I'm so glad the smokers' voice is no longer common.
