timrob12 It is. It was horrible when he couldn't remember Alan Rickman's name yet called him his best friend. And although I never expected him to understand let alone remember the intricacies of Harry Potter, his memory tells him Snape pushed him off a mountain. Not overly far off the truth, but it's still affected.
But it's because he's reached an age at which memory loss often occurs, and because of that he's had a long and wonderful career. And for that we should be thankful.

People always cite GoF like it isn't the obvious outlier in the series, not the norm. He was very different in PoA, which was BEFORE GoF, and totally different after, especially in HBP and DH. He was perfect.
Instead of focusing on the one film that fits your preconceived narrative, look at the evidence to get to the conclusion. Instead of focusing on him screaming at Harry, shouting all the time, and always being angry and having a "thickness" to his voice, look at his speech in HBP. It's phenomenal.

Just thinking the same thing. Have seen Michael Gambon on stage a couple of times; a great actor with a great body of work to discuss and these so-called ' bright young things' are only interested in Harry Potter! It's shameful and embarrassing. What an indictment of the paltry state of young people's minds, also demonstrated by the poor interviewing skills. No-one over the age of eight should read the Potter books. I have heard it said they are poorly written. Oxford infants, there's a whole lot of great and
entertaining books for adults out there!

He is such a great actor, he is Dumbledore all way long, I see him and I see the best wizard ever. The way he speaks, the way he talks. The way he moves his hands. Wow i wish I can meet him in person one day. Besides he has a tremendous career as an actor and the interviewer is just not doing his job properly. I still had lot of fun here.

@@MichaelM28 LOL. You mean the guy who would had probably broken his back trying to shoot the scene dueling voldemort during the order of the phoenix? Not that Harris was terrible, but Gambon was light-years ahead of Harris

@@minttt_ I definitely understand how people prefer Harris, but honestly, even if he was alive doing all the other films, it wouldn't have worked all that well. He was old in the first two films, it was clear, far too clear.

@@minttt_ Harris was sick when he played Dumbledore in the two installments of Harry Potter, if I'm not mistaken I think he was suffering from cancer that's why Dumbledore looked physically weak.

Really wish you'd changed the interviewer a while ago... Never too late though.
Maybe someone more emotive, more reactive, less robotic.
I mean he handled it so horribly that Sir Michael was looking at his watch at 43:33.

Ha... The bit at the beginning where he says "I know you don't like interviews, so we'll make sure this is a conversation not an interview" then proceeds to ask about the most obvious topic, and poses a question about replacing a deceased cast member! It literally doesn't get more "interview-esque" than that!

Gerrard, I agree. I once sat in on a convention where they interviewed Doctor Who star Colin Baker. The woman asking the questions was really bad. And didn't even speak loud enough to be heard through the room. Colin Baker of course SHINED and was just so much better than the interviewee.

Thought I was in for a treat watching a big star but what a shallow, lightweight, trivial, insignificant interview when the interviewer was asking the questions. All he can ask about is Harry Potter and his voice is annoying, needs to slow down.
We were in the presence of a great so also ask him about life, things he's done in his life outside of acting, he was 75 at the time of the interview he's lived a life worth talking about so lets get to know the man.
I started to pay attention when the audience started asking their questions, they got him talking about more than Harry Potter.
The only good thing that I can say about the interviewer is that he listened very well - he gave Michael a good amount of space to speak & was helpful to Michael in clarifying what the students were asking.
    From North London.

@Dustpanda Music I do not disagree, but I don't like dissing the interviewer per se, which happened a LOT (and you didn't specify that either) - there should have been someone who knows how to deal with alzheimer's, how to "translate" questions etc..... - but just slandering the poor guy, who probably didn't have a choice, isn' t the way to go

Always wonderful to see Michael Gambon even when he is being 'interviewed' by such an appalling interviewer. By far the worst I've ever seen in an Oxford Union interview and, believe me, there have been some stunningly lackluster interviewers used by the Union. In this instance an infantile buffoon who showed no evidence of serious research and was seemingly unaware of Mr Gambon's well known hearing disability. One hopes, by now, the chap who almost ruined the entire event has graduated and is archived away in some quantity surveyor's office where he will never again be allowed to address the public or, worse still, interview anyone.
