    I’ve been seeing this controller and was genuinely interested as a controller aficionado just couldn’t justify trying this. One thing I’ve noticed when using trackpads it helps when you wear something on your thumb… usually to put some extra friction between your thumb and pad. Makes it feel more controllable.

    I like this controller, but I do have some feature requests, such as a trackball mode for the touchpad and gyro activation like on the Alpaca controller, which also works when the touchpad is touched. Otherwise, a very interesting concept.

    Didn't know this existed. But very welcome review video. I must admit I'm a filthy gyro gamer (I moonlight as trackball gamer) and was initially interested. But as you started listing the downsides, I would rather just use the Steam Deck controller or an actual mouse and keyboard. Keep it up vCuda! Big thanks.

    The worse thing I can think about this controller is the inversion of the mouse buttons in relarion do a gamepad, they put left mouse in the left which is shoot and right which is aim in the right, when it comes to triggers it is usually the other way around

  • @NexZu-
    @NexZu- 5 месяцев назад

    Yeah, I bought it as a gag but actually thought it worked really well. Only reason I don't still use it is because most games don't have profiles for keyboard layout in games. So I have to remake the layout every time I want to switch back to mouse and keyboard normally.

  • @wmv8996
    @wmv8996 5 месяцев назад

    One concern I have is some games might look at the controller as a foreign device and just blacklist it from working in the game.

  • @gideonakor
    @gideonakor 5 месяцев назад +12

    Yep, I have one. been using it since January. it took me a while but right now i’m really good with it.
    I don’t really understand what you mean by not remapable tho. maybe it’s an issue for people who wants to use it on consoles🤷🏽‍♂️ . For me i game on PC, and just as any keyboard and mouse every button can be remapped in-game. For me i always switch the right and left clicks around, in any game i play to get that right and left trigger feel.
    Also all the buttons on the left has alternate functions which you can always use by holding down the fn button at the back. for example the esc button is also an enter button when you hold fn before pressing. Infact all the necessary buttons from an actual keyboard and mouse which most games use by default is right there 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @EeK9X
      @EeK9X 2 месяца назад +1

      But can you remap the buttons on the controller itself (not changing what each key does in-game)?
      I'm planning on using this controller with only one hand (for movement), paired with a mouse on the other hand (for aiming/shooting), and I'd like to remap whatever buttons are bound to mouse clicks on the controller, since I'll be using an actual mouse, and having repeat inputs is no good.
      Also, can you disable gyro completely? It's impossible to find any documentation for this device online.

    • @gideonakor
      @gideonakor 2 месяца назад +1

      @@EeK9X Ok let me put it this way. don’t think of it as a regular controller, but as a regular keyboard and mouse combined. The joystick is automatically your “WASD” keys for movement. and yes you can use it with another mouse on your right hand. I tried it once but it kinda felt weird. personally i prefer my thumb on the trackpad but hey that’s just me.
      Yes the gyro can be disabled. it’s even disabled by default, and you can even set it to trigger only while you are holding a specific button.
      I would have made a video if i could but i’m not a fluent speaker.

      @hameerz Месяц назад +1

      @@gideonakor yoooo finally an actual user. Few questions, personally do you feel it to be better than using a standard controller? Is the touchpad actually sensitive enough to not have to use gyro? Already have a portable enough gaming setup but am seriously considering the Steam Deck only cause of the touchpads. Assuming you've tried the Steam Deck, how does this controller compare to the Steam Deck's? ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼

    • @gideonakor
      @gideonakor Месяц назад +1

      @@hameerz Honestly, it depends on the game I play. i still prefer my standard controller for most Adventure games like Elden ring, Assasin's creed, sekiro e.t.c standard controllers such as Xbox and PlayStation controllers still can't be beaten when it comes to comfort, and that's where this controller falls a bit short, the way it's built. but I prefer using this when I play FPS games like Apex or The finals and when I play MMORPGs like Black desert Online for fast mouse navigation. you can adjust the sensitivity of both the touch pad and the gyro, and you can use it with gyro turned off. And another thing I had to get used to is that since this controller is only recognized as keyboard & mouse input, you don't get any aim assist.
      I haven't tried a steamdeck yet, but I'm seriously planning on getting one. Although I think the trackpads should be similar and if they are not, we can always set it to fit our playstyle.

    will you also in the future revieuw the steamcontroller? none of the revieuws i saw mention how it works with steaminput and why it was so great input wise. the controller itself may look and feel cheap. but the possibilities with layers and action sets are pretty limitless when it comes to remapping. the reason noody mentions this is because steaminput seems to be difficult to learn for alot of people. The steamdeck feels way nicer in the build quality, but it lacks the dualstage triggers (atleast the physical click).

Second hand steam controllers from resellers are not worth the out of warranty and questionable condition.

    It's really bad that the gyro is mediocre, because I'm pretty sure the whole idea here is that you can use the trackpad to swipe around and the gyro for actually aiming, because when gyro works, DAMN does it work. If it was as good as Sony's gyro this thing would actually be super cool. Still is, but, y'know.

Этому геймпаду не хватает второго аналога для камеры, и расположения верхних четырех и основных четырех кнопок как на других геймпадах!!! И вы постоянно будете страдать от аналога отвечающего за кнопки wsda они живут своей жизнью!

    The Steam controller is a decent mouse and a REALLY shitty keyboard. I have one. However, it sucks for FPS because of frame pacing issues. The gyro runs at 85Hz and the trackpads run at 250Hz, if I remember correctly, but the end result is precise, but choppy camera movement.
    They have an upgraded version of the same controls on Steam Deck, with mostly the same drawbacks. I'm not sure why I expect technical excellence from Valve, their things have always been jank, although, incredibly fun jank.

    I’m tired of hearing people say the controller has a “big learning curve” NO the trackpad actually sucks. You don’t know this because for some reason you chose bought a touch controller while also never having used touch input in your life. Touch input should NOT feel like this. It should not be this inconsistent. You should not have to learn how to negotiate with the device to do something as simple as track a moving target. The only way to get them to change anything in the next version is to outwardly state the shortcomings of the device as opposed to just saying “it’s a learning curve”.
    The polling rate for the pad is way to low and on top of that it’s not even consistent. depending on how hard and how fast you move your thumb for the exact same distance of space you can get massive differences in output. Most of the time moving it at the same speed and distance will land you inconsistent results. Light swipes barely get registered if it all, and if you don’t fat finger the pad while making motions it will straight up choose to not register large portions of what you’re inputting. Frame skipping is also a major problem in almost every game I’ve played with the device. Like using a mouse with an ungodly low dpi set to it.
    I am so sick of seeing reviews of people who very clearly have never touch mobile gaming talk about the input on this device while stating that “it’s just a learning curve and that you have to get used to it” and enabling the manufacturer to not fix anything while encouraging people to still buy it.

    I mean, the gyro on it may be useful (if just as accurate as the one on the DSE that is.. ) but the lack of the second analog stick makes it a downgrade from a Gyro controller, especially the DSE
    I believe the DSE currently is the one and only full solution (take away the SHIT BATTERY) for playing any type of games (well, bar racing and flight sims or what have you.. )

I need to give myself some more time with this controller for the SMG's and AR's but I've found that using a combo of the gyro controls and the track pad works the best for the simple point and shoot stuff. Navigating menus and accessing is more difficult for me but that might be because I'm 37 and have only played on traditional controllers like Xbox or PlayStation. I would recommend for a game like COD or something similar. Love your videos by the way bro, keep working it gets better.

I recommend it for those people like me who do not know how to play with a keyboard and mouse or it is uncomfortable for them. It's a shame there aren't more controls of this type. I like that the keys appear as if it were a keyboard, it is much easier to map to your liking. I recommend it 100%. The bad thing is that it is made of plastic and looks like a toy. But the use is great. I don't understand why there aren't 100 more models of this type.
