Yep. Been their, done that, got the t-shirt. Super video! There's nothing quite like the atmosphere and sense of occasion on Pellew not to speak of Luke's sense of humour and Jo's cakes.🥰
Such a magnificent vessel, congratulations to you for building it. With that being said, we would surely love to see Eric performing in 40 plus knots though.
Yeah I play a game called Sailwind. In one of the starting area, you have square-rigged ships. Using the Squares to back from dock is very handy. BTW love the video.
This is a beautiful boat!!! Excellent one!!! I love it!!! But... looking at this video someone can think sailing means that first you "having lunch" and then you go to the deck to eat butter and bread and so on 😂
Imagine doing the sail raise without a motor or getting underway without an engine. Nice video of the vessel underway. It is something I recall but never see now.
Lol, what a contrast- I was just watching a review of a new sailboat that can be operated from the helm by literally pushing buttons. Not quite so easy on a beautiful wooden boat like Pellew. 😊
Beautiful boat. If I were rich.... Instead I'll be forced to sail my tartan 31 in the Caribbean for a year. I do love the look of the older boats though.
What's on the front of the small boat (the one that has "ss268" on the bow) that keeps coming up to the sail boat? It looks like something used to help retrieve a fishing net or a line
oi Luke sorry me n Duffy(Tony) didn't make it to meet you at The Anchor , Faversham creek . 1980 summut . got mitigating excuses. Catch up some time. Have you still got that nice little yellow post van?
@@Harryvolting From what I gather, there is a resurgence of interest in wooden boats and for the first time in a very long time the number of people involved in the trade is increasing rather than decreasing.
I agree@@commodore_jack81, we were all adults, Good swimmers and not in dangerous sea conditions. But you're on a poor wicket if you try to defend yourself against a non safe practice, it just invites controversy. I thought the sand castle competition had more danger.
Hi Paul, thanks for your interest. Nice boat, yes Pellow; 'My she was yar' (to quote Tracey Lord). None of us were bored as there was plenty of bored games if it was wet outside. Not one us were over twenty two and many of us had saved for the trip by not informing the authorities that family members had died, thus enabling us to continue claiming their pensions. And also the reason we didn't go for solar panels, couldn't risk a cloudy day and the freezer stop working. (Shh..Please don't make all that common knowledge, thats just between you and I). Diversity? Gerold was Austrian, and many of us by the end of the week were able to copy his accent so that he felt more comfortable amongst us. Because we are just nice people. Hope that helps to clarify some of your comments. Best wishes, Harry Volting
That’s one fabulous boat, a real beauty! I remember seeing it being built in a visit by Leo a few years years back.
I thought this was the boat, thanks for the confirmation 😊. She is a beauty and it’s fabulous to see her under sail.
Fabulous boat....I bet Leo can't wait to get his boat into the water, I have been following him and his visits to the Coastal Cutter Pellew.
Nice boat, nice crew; great captain / owner; beautiful Cornwall.
Brings back great memories from Penzance, Saint Yves, the Scillies …
Nice day 🛠️⛵❣️⛵❣️ nice boat making

Luke, Jo and Pellew are all magic. I am looking forward to my third trip on Pellew at the Falmouth Classics & Sea Shanty Festival in June. Merv
Brilliant film , took me back on board ! I was there last August, 10 days to Brittany ( ish)
It's a wonderful experience and Luke is .....OK 😉🤣⚓🏴☠️⛵👍
Have a great video ❤❤❤❤ saport
Wonderful to see you sailing! Hornblower would be envious!
She are true beauty, and winds blowing fair on her sails.
Such a magnificent vessel, congratulations to you for building it. With that being said, we would surely love to see Eric performing in 40 plus knots though.
lovely to see this boat in action.
She's a beautiful boat!

That was good, you must have one of the biggest subscriber/view ratios on youtube for that one!!
True, I am amazed, normally my audience views are around eight. It's very encouraging, also rewarding for the time committed to stitch it altogether.

Sailing in ballast Dimitri, got to put the weight somewhere.
Imagine doing the sail raise without a motor or getting underway without an engine. Nice video of the vessel underway. It is something I recall but never see now.
People did it for thousands of years.
Beautiful boat a reall boat there no mucking around
Thanks for sharing and don't forget lifejackets in dinghy next time please.
First thing I look for with anything boats.
A stunningly beautiful boat. Where can we order your book?
Hi you can order Lukes book here: www.workingsail.co.uk/shop/p/working-sail-a-life-in-wooden-boats-luke-powell

Love that boat
Vigyázzatok rá, szép hajó.,

Doing it tough just like in the old days!
Loved the top sail explanation .
What do you call that type of rigging?
She is a beauty!
Gaff rigged
Makes me laugh everytime, love that part.
Is this boat a crewed charter? Oops like it would be fun.
What's on the front of the small boat (the one that has "ss268" on the bow) that keeps coming up to the sail boat? It looks like something used to help retrieve a fishing net or a line
Hi Mitch, it's the boats harbour registration number SS stands for St. Ives, and the two gentlemen were going out to check their Lobster pots.
Prachtige boten, alleen kosten ze ook machtige bedragen.
Heb ik het niet eens over het onderhoud. ❤😂😊
Hard to believe a man and a mate used to crew this!
Nice boat
Cutter people like snacks.
oi Luke sorry me n Duffy(Tony) didn't make it to meet you at The Anchor , Faversham creek . 1980 summut . got mitigating excuses. Catch up some time. Have you still got that nice little yellow post van?
jam first in cornwall
Built in 2020 and up for sale already???
They found out pellew was built to sink and be an artificial reef so they wanna hock it before she goes dizzle
It's a circle, build a boat, sell it, build another retaining the skills of the craftsmen that might disappear otherwise.

❤❤❤
So she's in charter/tour service? I'd figured she'd been commissioned as a rich man's toy. Not that there is anything wrong with either.
Didn’t realise how good I look in shorts
Are your feet still wet?
quel joli cotre ! naviguer le long des côtes de la Grande Bretagne ... si vous cherchez un cuisinier français( volunteer) , écrivez moi /
Translation: what a pretty cutter! sailing along the coasts of Great Britain... if you are looking for a French cook (volunteer), write to me .
I thought that were Tom Sawyer.??
No. He wasn't on board this trip, think he had trouble getting out of Wookey Hole caves
@@HarryvoltingAnd I thought it were the Blue Johns
Black foul weather gear makes no sense. But, I suppose it is the fashion. Like black cycling gear.
There was a full wardrobe of colourful sailing gear available George, but everyone chose black as we were all going on to a formal dinner later.
Tradition. I love it.
Five people in that small tender and not one life jacket, think people.
True, life jackets were available and we should have worn them.
slow and b
on 17min man hanging an the waterstay without livejacket. 2 stupide actions, as a skipper i would not aloud that on my skip.
Great video but lifejacket discipline is terrible.
Thank you, life jackets were available and we should have worn them, happy that you enjoyed the video.
It's part of the fun ! 😜

@@Harryvolting 🤣. I have always wanted a gaff cutter... it is my favourite type of ship. What about you ?
Nice boat but filled wit hbored, old, rich English.
scottish perhaps, and racist to boot
How do you know?
Hmm lovely boat but someone seems to have a very green eye😊
