He may have been referring to both parents being unbelievers along with the children.
Salvation comes by accepting (believing and confessing) Jesus as the Son of God.

Fundies lol. People don't think it's true and so reject it... they reject it because they think it's fairy tales and falsehoods. They don't believe the Christian god exists at all. Hypothetically if they turn out to be wrong then it's an error in knowledge and no more. To spin it as rejection of that which they know to be true is arrogantly stupid.
