As a huge Star Wars fan and a huge wood working fan, I have to say what an amazing job with not only the craftsmanship, but the music and editing as well. Thank you for the wonderful content.
first, this is an amazing piece... and second, I hate to admit this because I'm 40 years old, but I had a complete fangirl moment at the beginning. too fun!
Mr. Howart you've just gather the best of multiple universes and combine it in this video. May the woodworking force be with you. Tnx for sharing it!!!
Frank Howarth - Father, Husband, Architect, Woodworker and Rebel…! Great video Frank, Thank You… and great end result… worthy of Guggenheim. A great “Spin” on a classic tale from a long long time ago, “Turning” tables on the Empire…!
Your decision to use bamboo is very well thought out. The notches within the bamboo served to be like the panels and that was a great life decision on your part! Well done!
Straight up incredible. The editing was impressive. Clearly you knew exactly what you wanted before you started shooting. That was the most riveting woodworking I've ever seen.
I think exactaly the same when he join the two parts and there is the "groove" of the midle of Death Star. The concept, the atention for the details, the wood choice, the use of the advanced tools in a advanced way...

"Don't be too proud of this wooden terror you have constructed! The ability to build the Deathstar from bamboo is nothing compared to the power of the Force!" Awesome job man, seriously, huge Star Wars fan, just discovered your channel a few weeks ago, amazing work! Keep it up!
Mr. Howarth you are an artist of the wood turning but also an entertainer. The angles of camera, the ultimate wood tech. I enjoy very much watching you work. Greetings from Argentinian Patagonia.
You are my new Hero I have been sitting here two days in a row watching your videos, I remodel houses and do custom wood work but you sir are a MASTER at what you do I wish I could come spend a couple of days with you and learn as much as possible! Thank you for posting these videos!
Someone seeming like they enjoy doing woodwork in these videos is nice, naturally. Someone seeming as if they enjoyed making the video itself, as well, it's amazing! I love how much fun he has in the video making process. It adds so much. Great video, great project. Amazing.
I just am in awe for your creativity and your playfulness handling your wood work. And your editing skills brings that extra touch that elevates your content even further. This Death Star came out fantastic, Bravo! Don't ever change Frank. And thank you for sharing your work with us!
Brilliant you are, Master Frank. A big lathe Powermatic will have to build, for you to turn Starkiller Base. No more training do you need. A video Jedi you are. May the grain be with you.
Omg. The best carpentry related video I've ever watched. Along with the entertainment factor the amount of planning, designing and effort that must of gone into this project must of been out of this world. From one star wars fan to another, you are a true legend. Thank you for this pure work of art.
This was so well thought out - the intro was a reference to into of one of the starwars films, and even the transitions between clips were starwars-style transitions. Genius.
The force with you is strong... is it not? It takes only the light to make the Dark Death Star. Amazing cinematography in so many of the scenes and for me especially the fly through shots. Very creative and that plyboo is hard stuff and it likes to splinter so I know how hard it was to achieve the final result. Once again a beautiful video and a meshing of old skills and modern technology. The finished piece is magnificent!
How have I not seen this before. I LOVE IT! It's SOOOO beautiful. I've sat here with my hand over my mouth for about 10 minutes. I don't understand why this is so exciting to me. It's just...amazing.
OSCAR for Best Woodworking Video, OSCAR for Best Sound Effects Carpinteria, OSCAR Best Editing, Congratulations from Venezuela MTFBWY
+Manuel Delgado thanks
Nooo, thank you for introducing this excellent video, seems directed by Lucas
Just brilliant, both the video, and the comment!
+Manuel Delgado if it were directed by lucas, it would have had jar jar binks in it
+Manuel Delgado lol
Possibly the single best video on RUclips.
Mr2at I agree. It’s good to see stuff like this amongst all the crap.
I don´t know what is more amazing. You video editing or your craftmanship.
We can't repel choices of that magnitude!
my six year old says "I think I want to do that, it looks kind of easy" Love this one Frank!
It's a loot of work
The mark of a true craftsman is to make it look easy. Don't let hard work discourage you.
I can just imagine how much Frank was chuckling to himself with some of those shots in the shop! Awesome video Frank!
G'day Frank, I've got to say, your work is amazing, and so entertaining! May your Lathe Chisels always be sharp, and easy to find. Cheers.
Amazing!

As a huge Star Wars fan and a huge wood working fan, I have to say what an amazing job with not only the craftsmanship, but the music and editing as well. Thank you for the wonderful content.
I wanted to see him replace a globe with this and make it into one of those liquor globe tables
That bamboo with all the segments... It works so well to capture the look of it without any further ornamentation.
10:18 mins well spent! wood watch again!
Pity bamboo is a grass
Clever you are. Hmmm.
:)
first, this is an amazing piece... and second, I hate to admit this because I'm 40 years old, but I had a complete fangirl moment at the beginning. too fun!
Frank Piana is my favourite natural wood worker
Who could possibly NOT like this?
The Rebel Alliance..
george lucas liked it so much that in the next special edition hes editing the death star to look like frank's
Trek fans......
Jason Moran As a Trek fan, I think this is amazing. Not a huge Star Wars fan, but the video is awesome.
Members of the rebel alliance and traitors; take them away!
tho this video is a masterpiece, i missed your voice frank. your voiceovers are oddly calming.
I think it fits the video
+Roman Randhahn totally agree, i watch his videos before bed lol
+YoungWood same

The Force is strong with this one.
This is amazing! You win the internet! May the 4th be with you!
I love how the cross-section of the bamboo plywood makes it look like the surface of the Death Star. Awesome job. May the force be with you.
That's no moon... It's a Masterpiece!
no....it's a death star
Thank you Frank! I'm not a Star Wars fan, but I'm a fan of your work and videos. Thank you for sharing your passions with the rest of us.
I'm ashamed of how much I love this.
+Dan Mills no need to feel ashamed
Search your feelings, embrace the Dork Side…
Tracy Luegge Believe me, fully embraced.
+Dan Mills This video is so nerdy, a bully should come to my house to punch me in the face
Satch Boogie No, the bullies have joined us!
This video was so very good.
I liked this much better than the prequels.
And on May the Forth 2016, we finally know the answer to the ultimate Star Wars Question:
*Frank Shot First!*
+John Norris You win
That swipe effect was perfect!
that would make a fantastic liquor cabinet!
+drummond06 I second that - would be much more awesome than those bar globes :)
I would drink straight out of it.
Mr. Howart you've just gather the best of multiple universes and combine it in this video. May the woodworking force be with you. Tnx for sharing it!!!
We're covering your creation on our channel today!
It's not often you watch a woodworking video with a smile on your face. Thank you.
Spectacular. Even got the screen wipes.
+SDub Until the digital remake DVD release, of course.
+Coastal Virginia Gardening Lol, funny
What can be said to even come close to the accolades your multilayer craftsmanship deserves? I'm struck speechless!!! Thanks I sure enjoyed.
That is awesome Frank! You know you have to make an R2D2 now though! #MayThe4thBeWithYou
+Jarrid O'Bryan Next year!
+Jarrid O'Bryan Agreed
Yes! A wood R2D2 for May 4, 2016!
It’s so cool how he can throw the pieces on the table and they just assemble themselves in the hose clamp, truly remarkable
One word Frank......AMAZING :)
Cheers
Mike
+Mike Waldt Thanks Mike
Frank, this is stand out wood working and stand out film making. Thank you. You make my life richer. Keep going.
who gave dislike this video? It is a masterpiece
+AntônioJunior -AJ- from the dark side
+Rick Green kkkkkk
+AntônioJunior -AJ- maybe it was George Lucas because Frank did a better job than J.J. Abrams haha
+AntônioJunior -AJ- Probably Trekkies
This wasn't the video they were looking for.
Frank, what you do, how you do it, and how you produce your video is truly special. On behalf of humanity, I thank you.
+Sean Foster Thanks
I love this so much. What a gift to the RUclips community!
+Nate Cougill i wonder if you interested in seeing some of my works too ? is in my video
You're a very clever man. I don't know which is better, your workshop, the masterpieces coming out of it, or your video editing!!!
That's no moon....it's a lathed station.
+AtenRa lol, very clever :)
The only thing disappointing about this video is that it didn't go viral. It is sooo worthy.
Awesome job on the woodwork and editing.
Possibily one of the best, DIY videos I've seen ever.
Seriously--I'm not sure which is more impressive--your woodworking skills or your video editing capabilities. Very well done, sir!
I love how playful and cinematic this was :P it's awesome
Frank Howarth - Father, Husband, Architect, Woodworker and Rebel…!
Great video Frank, Thank You… and great end result… worthy of Guggenheim.
A great “Spin” on a classic tale from a long long time ago, “Turning” tables on the Empire…!
Lol! Frank, you are simply the best.
+April Wilkerson Thanks April
+April Wilkerson Better than all the rest.
The sound effects and audio clips from the movie really made this video a treat to watch.
The force is strong in this one...................
Your decision to use bamboo is very well thought out. The notches within the bamboo served to be like the panels and that was a great life decision on your part! Well done!
My favorite video of your to date! Impressive work Frank.
+izzy swan Thanks Izzy
Frank, once again you have made me laugh with your shop antics. Not only do I learn some things but have fun doing it. Absolutely loved it. Thank you.
You've outdone yourself! I hope this video keeps growing! Truly amazing work.
Straight up incredible. The editing was impressive. Clearly you knew exactly what you wanted before you started shooting. That was the most riveting woodworking I've ever seen.
I need something better than just a thumbs up for this video. Too cool!!!
+TabLeft Workshop Exactly! There should be a "Thumbs WAY UP" button for videos like this!
We need a double thumbs up
+TabLeft Workshop We need youtube to put a bracket where you can insert the amount of thumbs-up you want to give to the video
I think exactaly the same when he join the two parts and there is the "groove" of the midle of Death Star. The concept, the atention for the details, the wood choice, the use of the advanced tools in a advanced way...

Wow - enjoyed the great woodworking AND movie making... thanks!
Woodworking and Star Wars, it just doesn't get any better than that. Just Awesome, incredible to see such talent, thank you!
The Force is strong with this one! You got my subscription!
I love how you are so gentle with the final project, very proud in your work and I would be as well.
your work is best. your editing is great.
the way you used the wood pattern was AMAZING
Amazing on all levels, wow!
I rewatch this video at least once a year because it’s just so good. The craftsmanship and the editing. Amazing.
Your editing is always amazing.
frank you are a genius. The world does not deserve you or your amazing productions (wood+videos)
Unbelievable skills. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome Frank. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. All the best, Jim
Awesome job, I also liked the wipes/fades you used just like in the movie. And always remember Han shot first :)
acet7 of course he shot first. Why would he not? He didn't want to get shot. If you wait for the other guy to shoot, you may not get the chance.
"Don't be too proud of this wooden terror you have constructed! The ability to build the Deathstar from bamboo is nothing compared to the power of the Force!" Awesome job man, seriously, huge Star Wars fan, just discovered your channel a few weeks ago, amazing work! Keep it up!
man I would sooooo buy this
Always creative, not only for the works themselves but also for video editing!
Wow! Awesome I love it!
I'm not a person to leave comments but this is the BEST video I've seen on RUclips in all my years of watching random video's
May the fourth be with you all!
Mr. Howarth you are an artist of the wood turning but also an entertainer. The angles of camera, the ultimate wood tech. I enjoy very much watching you work. Greetings from Argentinian Patagonia.
i think i've just found the coolest video on the internet
You are my new Hero I have been sitting here two days in a row watching your videos, I remodel houses and do custom wood work but you sir are a MASTER at what you do I wish I could come spend a couple of days with you and learn as much as possible! Thank you for posting these videos!
I watched this video with my wife as we both love star wars, she wants to see you make a BB8.
Someone seeming like they enjoy doing woodwork in these videos is nice, naturally. Someone seeming as if they enjoyed making the video itself, as well, it's amazing! I love how much fun he has in the video making process. It adds so much. Great video, great project. Amazing.
A: What the hell kind of Death Star is that?
B: It's an older model sir but it checks out.
I was about to clear it.

+Raimundas Awesome cookie jar.

Awesome project man! Now you gotta blow it up
I just am in awe for your creativity and your playfulness handling your wood work. And your editing skills brings that extra touch that elevates your content even further. This Death Star came out fantastic, Bravo!

Brilliant you are, Master Frank. A big lathe Powermatic will have to build, for you to turn Starkiller Base.
No more training do you need. A video Jedi you are. May the grain be with you.
I was having a BAAAD day 'til I watched this. Brilliant.
+Melmagic Spell Absolutely brilliant actually 'cos I too am a woodworker though not at your calibre.
The quality of these videos are unbelievable!
Don't be so proud of this technological terror you've constructed.
I find your lack of lathe...disturbing.
Omg. The best carpentry related video I've ever watched. Along with the entertainment factor the amount of planning, designing and effort that must of gone into this project must of been out of this world. From one star wars fan to another, you are a true legend. Thank you for this pure work of art.

+Erik Anderson Thanks Erik. Yeah, I just turned some green maple to remember what turning is supposed to be like, not bamboo stone.
Excellent work Frank! The perfect material and a great edit. Beautiful end result. You rock!
But is it fully operational?
Quite possibly the best woodworking video ever - from a guy who has watched a bazillion CNC metalworking videos.
WOW that's incredible!!
How have I not seen this before. I LOVE IT! It's SOOOO beautiful. I've sat here with my hand over my mouth for about 10 minutes. I don't understand why this is so exciting to me. It's just...amazing.
A death star made of renewable materials! How can it be destroyed?
+Hank Hill Exactly! If you blow it up, it'll just grow back! :)
Now he just needs to make Star Killer Base. It will be bigger, rounder and solar powered
This actually gets more exciting upon additional viewings. Awesome.
