*MORE CYBERMEN OVER HERE* on the NEW Second Channel ruclips.net/video/FEhY8LrTGxI/видео.html
Love this episode. Sadly we got a spoiler at the beginning of the season at the end of the first episode. John Simm was pissed that it wasn't a surprise.
Mondas is where the cybermen originated from and these were the original ones and appeared back in the 1st doctors regeneration story when mondas appeared next to our earth. That was back in 1966...
Next episode is has possibly the oddest ending ever, and a great xmas special too
twd
The mondasian cyber man are the original!
'World Enough and Time' alternatively known as 'Spare Potts'...
Underrated comment
Take my like sir
Grabs basket of like and hurls it
I always loved the title of this episode! Oddly enough, not that many people seemed to really understand it at first. Council of Geeks already annoyed me by calling it "The World And Time" in his first review, but what REALLY annoys me is that - for whatever reason - they changed that title for our German dub into "Masks of Doom"...................... *WTF??????*
*spit take* HOLY SHIT 🤣
I'm jealous of reactors for not having the Master's appearance spoiled beforehand
I had it spoiled but my dad didn’t and my dad loved the old master and when they revealed him he went crazy
I watched these as they came out and I was never spoiled? I dont understand how you guys got spoiled, was it an interview or something?
Agreed. They showed John Simm in the season 10 trailer.
@@jonsmith2832 I think the BBC heavily promo'ed the return of the Master during the season. And at the end of "The Pilot" they had a montage of selected images from the rest of series 10, and The Master was one of those images. THANKFULLY, that was the only spoiler about The Master I saw, and I totally forgot about it until the reveal.
Jon Smith yeah they spoiled that John Simm would be returning. They lost a lot of viewers during Capaldi’s run, so the bbc wanted a reason for people to return.
Me: Bill has now been converted into a cyberman :(
Failwhale34: HAHAHAHA THEY ADDED THE TEARDROP
💀
I'm so glad he noticed the tear drop. Better payoff for next episode
TMAMovie ye but I thought he would at least show some sympathy, that’s like one of the worst ways to go, by conversion
Milkeh he did show sympathy tf
Failwhale: omg we’re doing another end of time!!!
Introducing: the master in disguise befriending Bill.
Also failwhale: it could be the cybermen but I don’t think so.
Introducing: the cybermen
Put him in the writers' room.
I’d heard John Simms was coming back but totally forgot about it by the time this episode aired. It really is one of the best twists in modern Who. My reaction was way more sweary though.
I also saw the series 10 promo with John Simms, and I forgot by the end of the season! I think the key was that the promo didn't show him pulling off the disguise, so I thought he'd just be in plain sight the whole episode.
Same
Angel McLeod I didn’t forget but I didn’t realize Razor was the Master until he laughed. He had that iconic laugh and I thought oh my god I’m so stupid this is John simm
the whole thing was spoiled for me by the announcements and trailers, so i got no surprise from it. i have to watch reaction videos to get that
I.. waited.. for.. this reaction..!
This is such a great finale. Really ties into the horror that is a key part of the Cybermen, the danger of traveling with the Doctor, and Missy's internal conflict and change of hearts.
Ahhh so cool to see you go in with zero idea! I remember hearing that John Simm was possibly coming back then half way through watching the ep i suddenly remembered and looked at the guy and was like.....OH SHITTTTT 😂😂😂
"Mondas" is the original home world of the Cybermen, if you go way, way back to the original origin of them with the 1st Doctor ("The Tenth Planet" - 1966 - the 1st Doctor's final episode). And that's their *original* look as well. The new Cybermen we first met on that alternate Earth with the 9th Doctor are technically a different...species?...of them.
Wondering if he’ll ever upload next one 🤔
Be patient
Been 2 weeks. Was patient for that time
@@mrowent6 This guy has a life you know. He has family close so he needs to look out for them as well. He’s also a journalist so just give him some time
@@mrowent6 And just so you know, he pays someone to edit his videos because he is busy most of the time, the person editing is probably not feeling well or something or maybe even failwhale isn’t feeling well. It’s not the end of the world. If failwhale is sick, you can’t get upset because your entertainment is delayed. You may have been patient for 2 weeks but you’re sure as hell not being patient now. A true fan of failwhale will wait
The Abomination ummm the video has already been edited lol. These videos are edited about 1-2 weeks in advance
2 more episodes till we get to see how he reacted to JW as the Doctor.
Mondasian cyberman are THE ORIGINALS you might say. These were the first cyberman to start on their world then swarm across the galaxies. The latest models are just them reaching their latest upgrades.
You're sorta right, the original cyberman story is called 'The Tenth Planet' and featured the Mondassian Cybermen in their one and only appearance before this episode. However, it never showed their origin, and the planet Mondas was tied to Earth. It's one of the best serials of classic Who. There was an episode called 'Genesis of the Daleks', which showed their origins, and so the Master calling it the "Genesis of the Cybermen" is a nod to that.
Been looking forward for this reaction for months, not disappointed
In case anyone is wondering Mondas is Earth twin and the Original homeworld of Cybermen and the Colony ship is from Mondas and the Mondasian Cybermen were the Original Cybermen
This is a fabulous episode
"BILL GETTING BODIED?!?!?!" Oh no, no no no... its much much worse.
Also one of my favorite little things from reactors in this episode. Every time: "...is that a dab???"
Nothing to make a morning better like some good new who reactions. Keep it up my guy, can't wait for Torchwood btw.
Fun Fact: Genisis of the Cyberman was a Scrapped Title for an Anniversary episode for classic who in the 90s for an attempt for a revival
This was spoiled for us sooooo bad in the UK cause they kept showing the key character on promos for about a month before airing
"Omg I voted for that man" 😂😂😂
You are soooo lucky - when series 10 aired they spoiled John Simm and the cybermen right from the very first trailer for the series, which meant that entire episode was kinda spoiled - which is a shame cos it's so so so good
Mondas was where the OG cybermen came from
Bill Potts the first real Cyberman
This is so funny, as soon as I cicked o nthe video it said that it's premiering in 12 minutes.
Mondas is where the cyber men came from
It is genesis of the daleks.
This one was dope!!!
Harriet Jo-- err, Harold Saxon, former Prime Minister.
Was Bill the first cyber man?
Where is the ep 12?? D:
I clicked on this sO FAST I CANNOT WAIT
why season 10 episode 12 doesn't work?
Genesis of the Daleks.
Do you know what makes this episode disappointing for fans like us who watched weekly? WHEN THE FUCKING BBC TRAILER SPOILED THAT THE MASTER WOULD RETURN! Shit! I have never, NEVER, been more pissed off with a Spoiler than that. Thousands of fans were pissed that they revealed he would in it and when we got to this episode we all saw the twist coming and it was annoying. Im so happy there's viewers like yourself and others who didn't watch that trailer and could experience this amazing moment unlike some of us. That makes me jealous lol.
CYBER-POTTS! ❤
Actually, there was never a Genesis of the Cybermen episode. That's what this episode is.
There was a Genesis of the Darleks and that is where we meet Davors and the creation of the Darleks.
It connects to The Tenth Planet Though
The Big Finish audio Spare Parts is the greatest genesis of the Cybermen story !
Steve Charles Daleks* not Darleks. That’s not how you spell it
Spare Parts is a genesis of the Cybermen story (it's on Spotify if you wanna listen to it).
This had one of the lowest viewing figures of any capaldi episode.
Further proof viewing figures don't mean anything
I’d normally agree but I think since series 12 has the lowest viewing figures since 1986 that does show viewing figures can reflect the quality of a show or a lack of quality. Although there are exceptions
Eaters of Light is the lowest, not this one
well they do show if the show loses or gains popularity
Completely agree
Also hi I remember you from EMS's quiz
You’re right they don’t mean anything when it comes to an episode’s quality, but they definitely mean something when thinking about general public interest and whether the broadcaster sees value in the show for budgeting/green-lighting a new season etc.
After all them times you said about Bill having a second season 😭. Bill was such a great underrated companion. Can’t believe we are almost at the end of Moffat era again. It never gets old when you get surprised. Donut Bill.
yep,I miss Bill...
I love the Master using a mask as in Classic Who he often used lots of disguises
And the beard. Nice callback to Delgado and Ainley
He is the Master of Disguise
A true eccentric to the core.
@Eoghan K
when you say Classic who please tell me you mean as in the 4th doctor not from the 10th doctor like people have been saying
@@Lady_Jay Even better, I think he was going all the way back to the 3rd. The Master showed his fondness for disguises in his very first story with Jon Pertwee :)
I waited for.. youuu... to upload this video.
There wasn’t actually a classic story called Genesis of the Cybermen (there WAS the 4th Doctor’s Genesis of the Daleks), but the Mondasian cybermen were the very first cybermen encountered by the Doctor in William Hartnell’s, the first Doctor’s, very last story. So it’s a huge callback.
There was something *close* to genesis of the cybermen. It was a 5th doctor audio play
Whale’s question about whether there was an equivalent to Genesis of the Daleks gave me an opportunity to provide some background to the upcoming first Doctor appearance without, I hope, being unsubtly spoilful. I usually make no reference to ‘classic’ TV Who or Big Finish, but I saw a fair chance here.
@@Calzaki Yes, there have been a few cybermen origin stories . You’re referring to Spare Parts, a Big Finish audio. In ‘New Who’ we had The Age of Steel/ Rise of the Cybermen and of course this one. Since FW actually asked in his reaction if there was a genesis story, it gave me a reasonable opportunity to give him some relevant background, without I hope being obviously spoiling, for the finale and special.
@@johnmayhew9769 absolutely. The thing I remember about spare parts was an original art piece of the semi cyber an police officer and his cyber horse which I thought was cool. I like Age of Steel but think of that as more of a cool alt universe origin. I find it strange that we didn't get the 'prime universe' cyber en for so long g. Almost as if it was implied they'd gone extinct
" ... it's rather necessary when you happen to be someone's former prime minister".
That line never made any sense to me, why would the people from Mondas know who he was??
@@DS-ce9cf, I always took as him talking about Bill. She would recognise Harold Saxon. Also, before he met Bill, he would have needed the disguise from the rest of the ship because we hear in the next episode that the Master tried to take the over the whole ship but was overthrown or something to that effect. He needed to disguise himself from them.
*Mask unfold*
"Harriet Jones, former prime minister"
@@mahfuzurchowdhury2765 okay the second part with the ship does make sense, but the pary with Bill doesn't hold. Why doesn't Bill recognise the Daleks then?
@@DS-ce9cf, not 100% on that, but I just leave it to something to do with the reset of the universe back with the 11th Doctor.
Oh my god I voted for that man! (Hope you guys dig the new aesthetic!)
*#LoveUGibzee* Shout out to the madman for the new aesthetic/thumb/logo!
@LittleRedRhuari RRR yeah, yeah, yeah!
Nice new intro! I also enjoy the "It's me, NARDIE!" meme. You're not using it too much, nor too little. Juuuust right.
The talking cat is my new mood.
Moffat certainly left on a high. This finale is so good in so many ways. And Rachel Talalay of course - the director responsible for this gem and Heaven Sent (amongst others). TV gold.
This should be a masterful reaction.
I understood that reference
Wolf [DRJ] I understood that reference.
*"O my god, I voted for that man!"*
Some of the trump voters be like: ''We know the feeling.''
The Story was called genesis of the Daleks, the called it genesis of the cybermen as a call back to that but they are not linked story wise.
Note to self- never take a drink of coffee when Failwhale is reacting to a companion getting bodied.
Now if you will all excuse me, I have to clean coffee from my keyboard.
I feel sorry for you, but I also have to say that I am immune to that, especially since I dislike coffee
In the UK at the time we knew that John Simm was going to be in this but I still didn't recognise him so I still got something of a shock I'm glad to say.
I recognised him about half way through. I can't remember what it was, I think he laughed or it was the way he said a certain word that suddenly I just immediately knew it was him.
Now imagine if they'd kept it a secret like they did with ****'s return last season.
The masters do like their cybermen. Missy’s first team up as well
It never works out well for them though.
@@DaDunge that’s mostly because of the doctor.
@@allthingspaper3247 Yes but don't the cybermen turn on a the master a fair few times?
@@DaDunge yeah but usually the master thinks he has a good deal for them so as long as he keeps his deal they are usually fine up until the deal is almost over or the cybermen decide it’s not good enough
Fredrik Dunge The Master and the Cybermen have been teaming up since 1983!
Bill becoming the first fully converted cyberman was such a shock when I first watched this episode, but a great plot line!
Seeing people react to this story never gets old! Love it 😁
Yo ace
omg ace!
Especially when they've not been spoiled by the trailer
I remember Moffat saying that when he and Capaldi first started talking and he asked which old show monsters he would like to run into, Capaldi instantly said the Mondassian cybermen. Moffat’s first reaction was kind of, “Ewww,” ‘cuz he thought the VERY low tech and makeshift original design wouldn’t fit into the new show. But he thought about it for a few years and came up with this. I thought it worked extraordinarily well. 😁
Back when Tennant regenerated, John Simm made a bit of a thing about replying to press and fan questions about whether he would come back if asked in the negative. He’d say Tennant was *his* Doctor and it wouldn’t feel right, yadda yadda, but then at the wrap party he buttonholed Moffat on the sly and said, “Don’t pay any attention to that, I’d LOVE to come back!” Then he didn’t hear anything for years and saw Michelle Gomez take the part and figured, ah well it would have been nice. *sniffle* Then Moff got in touch for this and Simm couldn’t say yes quickly enough.
Simm was a bit apprehensive about appearing in a whole episode in disguise, heavy makeup isn’t really his thing. Would he be able to successfully carry it off? So much of the episode depends on his being unrecognizable it would be a shame to mess it up. So he worked very hard on the voice and the weird accent, how he held himself, his walk, all that stuff, but he still worried until the location shoot. He was wandering about the streets around the shooting location in all that stuff and nobody came close to recognizing who he was - and he’s prominent enough over there that he would get recognized sometimes. So yay!
Watch the classic episode “The Tenth Planet” and this will all make a bit more sense lol
Doesn't the tenth planet happen simultaneously to this. As in they're both mondasian groups but they have separate parallel cybermen genesises
@@TheMarioAdams The Tenth Planet probably happens after this, as this story gives us the origin of the Mondasians - literally their "Genesis", as the Master puts it.
@@ftumschk how is it the genesis of the mondasian? Don't you mean Cybermen
@@TheMarioAdams I meant the Mondasian Cybermen, and was just calling them "Mondasians" for short. Those are the ones with the Mondasian design... big, chunky chest units, circular eyes, cloth faces and sing-song voices.
Technically the origins of the cybermen are as portrayed in the 5th doctor big finish story spare parts, that seems to take place at a similar time to this with the tenth planet taking place after both of them
That was such a awesome reveal with the master if only the BBC never announced his return months before series 10 aired just to try and get some viewers
No they announced it because the sun was about to leak it
@@gummyjellyfrog Yet another reason why the Sun is the worst newspaper ever printed
FINALLY YOU CAME TO THIS EPISODE! I loved your reaction, did you noticed the 4 drums in the music during The Master's reveal?
Simm isn't the original Master, Delgado is. He's not even the first New Who Master. That was Jacobi.
Delgado is also not the first Master, he is the twelfth if I recall right.
@@timemeddler7730 We did technically see the 1st Master in The Sound of Drums.
Time Meddler Yeah, true, but when I said original I meant original on the show, but you're right.
@@darraghtate440 yep, I think this master is also in Bigfinish
@@larissa5699 ofcause, for me Delgado is also Master number one =D
"Oh my God shes a donut!" The greatest reaction of all time! I laughed so hard I choked on AIR!!!
Thank's for a great reaction! To me, this is one of Capaldi's best episodes. And poor Bill. Her acting skills was great here. The hopefulness combined with the sadness. Such a great episode 👏👏👏👏👏
*failwhale uploads his reaction to the doctor falls a year later*
I WAITED... FOR YOUUUU.
I'm hoping both this and TUAT will be this week or something, as it's the end of Capaldi.
@@thepandorica1660 Now I just cant wait for him to get through S11 and S12, so I can watch his Torchwood reactions.
This is gonna be goodddddd
The history of the Cybermen has gotten bit muddled with their reintroduction in New Who. In the original series, they were from the planet Mondas. The versions we first saw in Season Two of the reboot series were created on a parallel Earth and they managed to jump dimensions into our own. In this episode, we again get the Mondasian versions.
"Do you still like disguises, of course they are rather necessary when you happen to be someone's former prime minister"
Takes off mask
"Harriet Jones, former prime minister"
*in the voice of count dooku* ''Ive been looking forward to this''
An extraordinary episode. 😍 One of the best of the entire series, new and classic. The writing, acting, music, hair and makeup 😂and directing were just perfect. 👍And a wonderful reaction too😊
I felt stupid when I didn’t recognise who razor was when I first watched this in 2017.
Don’t worry, I was the same
I’ve been waiting too long for this episode
I'm still surprised I don't cry at what happens to Bill tbh but I always cry about her with the Christmas special so oh well🤷♀️
That intro tho
The fact that Bill spent more time with the Master than with the Doctor.😢.
She waited...
at 3:58 "oh my god she's a doghnut" had me laughing my head off on the floor
Love the new intro to your videos.
The callback is actually to the First Doctor episode The Tenth Planet (his regeneration actually). It’s the same idea though, they’re linked.
This finale is absolutely fantastic, one of the best stories of the show. Also we never had an official episode for the genesis of the cybermen, we had it explained to us in tenth planet, the last episode of the first doctor’s run. They were from Mondas in that. So this episode really is effectively an origin story for them. It was capaldi’s request to work alongside the original cybermen, they were his favorites.
Mondas is the original place the Cybermen appeared/came from in the 1966 story where the First Doctor dies. It's basically identical to Earth, but it's not Earth. Later Cybermen would originate from Earth, and various other planets. Eventually it just became "where there are people, there will eventually be Cybermen".
glad you are not spoiled by John Simm (The Master) beeing in this Episode :) Not kidding...the VERY FIRST Image, the BBC send viral about Season 10, was John Simm....so *******
In my opinion this is one of the best season finales !
So Mondas was the planet the Cybermen in the classic show were from. It was originally the tenth planet in our solar system (back when Pluto was considered a planet). The Cybermen being from an alternate dimension was a concept NuWho created.
Also, I love 12:30 because you saw the reveal as intended. Simm's appearance was spoiled by BBC advertising, unfortunately.
His other video “thank you for all of the subs!!!”
Me: uh NO!!! Thank YOU. YOU earned your subs and I’m happy that you got your well deserved play button. You spend a lot of time with your reactions and it must be appreciated!
It 2 am, and I couldn't be spending my time better.
Why this story wasn't called Genesis of the Cybermen is beyond me.
I've been waiting for a while to see your Master-Missy reaction!
Probably because they wanted it to be a slow reveal as the episode progresses.
*WTF??????*
OH, MY GOD. The new intro, I-. I got chills 😍
Cybers always come back around, these ones were requested by Capaldi especially, since these were the Cybermen he grew up with as a boy
Sadly, most fans were spoiled on the Master returning, so it made the 'elaborate disguise' a little transparent, but we are entering that final sprint before regeneration
Been waiting so long for this. One of my favourite stories
A mondasian Cyberman has the creepy design of the original cybermen when they were first created in 1966.
Man i envy you. John Simm spoiler dropped so hard a week before this episode aired, completely ruined the surprise 😑.
To be in your seat and feel what you felt would of been a privilege
Cat:Omg i voted for that man
One of the best new who episodes
Love the new intro!
You know people seem to react in shock to the Master's (Simm) reveal, but so many people seem to not notice his line "You can trust me on this" being a nod to Pete Tyler from the first New Who episode featuring Cybermen.
Here come the drums!
Yeah, so nothing much happens in this episode.
If I’m being honest, bill dying makes me sad because she is one of if not my favourite companions from new who
‘Oh my god she’s a doughnut!’ Brilliant 😭😭
The "OH MY GOD SHES A DONUT" killed me
I love that they brought the Master back, the next couple episodes and the dynamic between Missy and the Master are incredible
Ohhhh boy I've been waiting for this reaction for so long and its finally here!!
