I recently failed my osce and fluid balance is one of the stations. I must say, this is the most complete guide in youtube right now. The fluid chart and scenario paper are very accurate to the exam. If I may ask, the way I wrote IV fluids is that I would start at 11:00, and I didnt have any comment in plotting, some of my friends who passed also did it this way, is it an examiner's preference thing?
also a tip for anyone taking the exam, be wary of any inputs written on the lower part of the chart, as some people, myself included, have a habit of placing our hands on the lower part of the paper when writing and calculating, covering whatever numbers are written there, which will give you an incorrect total because you didnt see it. It seems odd, but under time pressure and stress, you will miss it.

If fluid is started at 1000hr and ends at 1800hr, at 1000hrs no fluid would be absorbed. in practice we start from 1100 because the fluid started at 1000hr. IVF is different from oral inatke that patient take at once

    Hi Ma'am,
Shouldn't we write the 125ml starting at 1100, because this 125ml will be given to patient from 1000 to 1100 hrs only. If we write 125ml in 1000H how's that possible?

Hi, I used your videos for my training and I did not do any course since I did the registration on my own and I passed 9 stations out of 10. Thank you very much you are so good with explaining. I failed fluid balance because I ran out of time, can I please ask you if I get a negative result do I have to write the total balance as - 300ml or just 300 ml? Thanks.

Great job! For fluid balance you just write the number in the box and for writing negative or positive there is a box below. Look at sample fluid balance chart.

    • @oscenursetrainingcambridge3851

Its correct , you are reading wrong line. For 11.00 it is 345 for 12.00 it is 275 which is correct.
