  • We have arrived in Skagway, Alaska and I swear the ports are getting more and more beautiful!! The scenery here is just breathtaking!! We have never had a more spectacular view at breakfast than we did on this morning... We get off the ship and have some time to kill until our ride on the White Pass Railroad, so we decide to take a walk and explore the town. It does not look like much has changed here in over 100 years! Yes, some of the spaces have transitioned into shops but the buildings are still the same. We walk through a museum of the history of the area and do a little shopping before time for our ride...

I’m so proud of your boys... I wish I had never went through the “mom and dad are embarrassing” phase when I was 15 and shown them the love they earned and deserved. Kudos boys! You have some fans!

Alaska is amazing! I visited there for the first time when I was 13. My grandma took us on our first cruise and I was blown away at how gorgeous it was. I decided right then I would live there someday. And I did. 🙂 Moved up there after college and picked up a husband and son on the way 😁. Its truly a beautiful place and cameras just can't quite capture it. It's not really all that cold though, just depends on where you're from. If you are considering visiting the last frontier, try to add in a land tour portion and see more of the state than just the southeast panhandle. It's so much more than what you see on a cruise!

It's pretty cool you guys have a very good sons and they really shown you guys a lots of love for the family, I can see they will be very good men and continue to follow the family traditions, beautiful scenery of historic Skagway and really great job with the video presentation.

Watching your videos brings back all the wonderful memories of my trip to Alaska last May with my husband, sister and brother-in-love! We had so much fun...just like you! But what I love best about your videos is the relationship you have with your boys! That they just walk up and give you a kiss on the cheek...on my goodness! How blessed you are! I don't think my son has EVER done that! I hope you maintain that relationship with them forever...and I think you will! You are such a great momma bear! Hugs!

Happy belated birthday to the boys! I loved Skagway. Our train excursion was canceled due to a land slide, but we found a bus that took us. We did get to stop & get off for pictures so that was nice. Love your vlogs!

Like a kid in a candy shop, you are torturing me. Skagway is my favourite Alaskan port. I went August 2005 and the weather was perfect but no snow on the mountains. You all appreciate nature and travelling is the best teaching tool you can get for your boys. I am sure that the rest of this cruise just got better each day.

Our tour guide told us the paintings on the rocks at the dock are an unofficial ships registry. When a new ship comes to port the crew goes and paints a new rock with the ship and captain's name. If the captain changes the paint a new rock.

Loving watching you experience Alaska for the first time! RE: the boat going out about 9 minutes into the video. That's an excursion I went on - SO much fun!!! They take you on a pretty exciting, high speed trip to see wildlife, etc. They provide those coverall suits, which actually are insulated flotation devices. They also provided us with wind goggles and woolen pull on hats. My absolute favorite excursion, to date!!

So glad that you fell in love with Skagway as much as I did. I would live there in a heartbeat. I drove from Orlando to Tok, Alaska which is in the upper part of Alaska, then drove down to Skagway. You have to stop in North Pole Alaska which is 11 miles from Fairbanks. STOP AT SANTA CLAUS HOUSE. YES SANTA IS REAL AND HE IS THERE. :) North Pole, is so cool because all the street lights look like candy canes. OMG IT IS SO WORTH THE TRIP It took me about a week to drive there, but I drove to Aspen, CO> then to Yellowstone. It snowed in Yellowstone the day I was there in June. I saw more bears in Canada than I did in Alaska. If you would like to see my pictures they are on FB / Dodie Sweeney. What's really cool is that in some parts of Canada, some gas stations. still, fill your gas tank, check your tires and clean your windshield, and check your tires. They even let you fill up your tank before you pay. So, if you go back to Alaska and need a tour guide let me know. I hope you got an ulu knife. Thanks for the video. Love Ya'll.

It was fun on my time, we flew all the way to Japan from New Orleans. This month we came back from Copenhagen Denmark Onboard at NCL Getaway, the downside with bigger ship is 5000 passenger is chaotic - there are time we are out of milk, celery. Next year will be NCL Sun I’d like to try this one it looks the same size as NCL Dawn. Will fly all the way to Santiago Chile and will sail to Panama back to Orlando Florida by March next year.

Love Skagway! We did the Gardens and Glassblowing tour which was great. The walk is really long, though. There were trolleys available. The water is so green from the super cold glacier runoff. The big red boat is a marine repair shop. We bought all our tshirts in town on sale.

If you ever go back, walk out to the south end of the airport and take a walk out to Yakutania Point and Smugglers Cove. The views from there are amazing 😊
The story behind the cliff face is the higher the picture, the higher the regard for your captain....at least that's what we were told. Then there's the picture of the skull, which is for Soapy Smith.
We did an excursion down to Haines in 2012 called Takshanuk Mtn Trail. Best excursion ever! Going up for the 3rd time hopefully in May 2021 and still haven't done the train yet. We're planning to rent a car and drive to Emerald Lake. Fingers crossed we don't have to do a ship sponsored excursion.

The book they have next to that fossil is really good. I've read her entire 6 book series set in that prehistoric time period. She did a ton of research for each book. It's insane. She can be a little redundant in descriptions of plants from that time but still good.
