I don't know how popular this will be, but I often spend a nectar for 2 eggs in round 1. Especially if I have access to nectar, have enough cards to play, spending the nectar gives an advantage in the grasslands nectar race, especially if the opponents neglect the grassland - and I get as many eggs as I can before the cuckoos show up. Moving forward, I will grab as much nectar as I can and spend it on land activation to make sure I win the nectar rounds. I don't see you do this often and it works out for you, but I usually do the auto 3 player games and winning all 3 nectar rounds is huge.

No one gonna mention that nightingale and zebra Finch have a kooky combo, giving your opponent the grain and you get a point with the Finch. It also helps feed nutcracker. No joke I actually think that'd be decent

Wait, starting hand with Common Grackle and Peaceful Dove, Yellowhammer has no synergy at all, because you never use the grasslands at all...or what am i missing?

It looks like you ignore the EOR goals in weighing your starting hands. Is that a typical strategy?

For the second starting hand, could you consider getting the nightingale into wetlands, taking raven with the nightingale out and then play nuthatch and nutcracker into forest and the raven into Graslands?

I was thinking Nightngale in wetlands and gain seeds while drawing cards.

Better yet was getting the zebra Finch on the grasslands followed by the nightingale for tuck cards because your adversary always will have a seed you you choose it and you also get one so it's a win as well. The only (big) downside is helping the other players getting food outside of it's turn, Wich if youcan get your grasslands engine going can get good results in terms of points
