Munchies: Andrew Zimmern

- You might know Andrew Zimmern from his Travel Channel show Bizarre Foods in which he wolfs down unsightly things halfway across the world. Maybe you've wondered what he eats when he's out with friends in New York. For this episode of Munchies, Andrew chose to start at Osteria Morini, where the most bizarre food on the table was an amazing rib-eye carpaccio that had been aged for 120 days. Then they headed to Marc Forgione for one of the more interesting meals we've ever seen. We ended up at the kitchen of Barbuto, where Zimmern made Chinese chicken drumsticks for the legendary chef Jonathan Waxman. Enjoy.

I loved how Andrew Zimmern was respectful and humble to his fellow chefs. He truly shows that he is the really nice, cool guy that you see on his show.
Why in the fuck did i watch this, its 3 am, the cafeteria is closed, an exam at 8, and i am fucking hungry now...
I think ill dream that my ramen noodles are some sort of roast prime rib... No... Im screwed
Marijuana.
+GlobalPeace2011 Whoa dude, you totally are a student aren't you? You sure said it there, buster! Totally schooled out dude!
+xxxLowLowxxx P.S. We all know you're a college dorm kid now.. You were subtle, but we decoded it!
+GlobalPeace2011 its unreal how exactly the same my situation is
+GlobalPeace2011 Don't worry. I'm torturing myself in the study hall. Trying not to go to the cafe and buy a $8 sub sandwich and a $3 bag of chips cuz I'm hungry (now starving) & broke. And I'm probably gonna fail my Lab practical cuz I'm procrastinating.
Such an interesting guy, especially in the eyes of a 9 year old me. Watching him on TLC after school was part of my childhood.
+Delfina Hanna Watching him on travel channel was my childhood.
I love how honest Andrew is. You can tell when he's speaking that its almost stream of consciousness. He seems like a very cool dude.
I really love Andrew and his show, such a friendly and genuine guy
"You don't know how to make dinner, dude? I'll make dinner." For some reason, that made me lol.
MrBeatboxmasta it's just really cute and innocent! Like kid was a chef and didn't know it
Andrew is the coolest person i ever met. So down to earth and genuine.
Zimmern has shown that the world, different cultures, can come together through food. Utmost respect.
+Glenn Rackmon Loved this guys travel channel show
Why so many haters? Andrew is awesome. I guess people will bitch about anything.
Welcome to the internet my friend
Because some people think Andrew Zimmern is a fat fuck.
I fucking love Zimmern
There's an old saying, "when you're young your first vice is alcohol, then drugs, and then as you age, food."
thats wicked
I did drugs first and then alcohol and then food, but I think yours is more common
I go back to this video now and again, I just love his view of the world, and he seems like a great guy.
I LOVE Zimmern. He has so much passion and so much respect for other people. He seems very real as well
Andrew Zimmern and Vice. Two of my fav things combined.
I’ve been a Big Fan and following Andrew for years and not for only his Love for great and interesting foods but his honesty in describing everything 💯🤟
One of my favorites, his show takes me around the world, its the best.
Great episode! Loved getting the background info on Zimmern, and the other chefs. So cool.
i love all the episodes of vice and vice japan, keep making them!!!
Good Munchies EP, Andrew's love for food always makes anything he does worth watching.
I love this series its bar far one of my favourites please never stop making these.
This was interesting to watch it's great to watch people with such an interest and passion in something that they talk and literally live it.
what a beautiful moment Andrew and Jonathan had at the end. almost made me tear up. gotta go call my dad brb.
Super glad that he sticks to the roots of Minnesota with the term, "tater-tot hotdish".
People like Andrew keep it real without trying. He's awesome
Thanks Vice for bringing this back - there was a large gap where no Munchies episodes where happening.
This is one of my all-time fav shows ever
Great piece!!!!! I love this, just so interesting
He's the reason I tried sushi and other foods that I never would think to try, he inspired me to try new things, thank you Adam!
If it looks good, eat it!
we need more of these "celebrity chefs" munchies episodes, not too often but once in a while
I love this guy he's always so cheerful and happy, As a matter of fact right before even knowing he lived in MN i was going to guess so because of his minnesota nice spirit.
I love Andrew Zimmern. He really taught me how to describe food properly when i'm either judging it or describing it to others. I would love to have him over for dinner to have my taco's or my fettuccine alfredo and have his opinion on it.
My cooking is no flash, no flare, and presentation isn't big. But it's good. Plus eating in my home, is like a party for every meal. We celebrate food and good times. Cheers!
It's nice to see TV stars on Internet exclusive shows. Really shows you where the entertainment industry is moving to.
Probably the most sincere personality I've seen associated with food.
I love Mr. Zimmern he always describes how a food tastes very very well "it's minerally almost like river stones or like pennies" or it's "barnyardy" I mean the guy has a knack for words and how they apply to what he's eating
Word. I watch this other dude (Mark Wiens). He'll literally eat a steak and say "hhhhWOW... this steak tastes so really steaky"... Like, WHAT? Is that really how your gonna discribe that thing?
This comment’s super old but still so relevant. I think I can thank Mr. Zimmern for showing me new ways to describe foods in terms of non-food things.
great work here! more of these plz
This is such a good episode.
Still one of my all time favorite chef's night out episodes
awesome food that was presented just for him.. Its like a present so what he took pictures of food.. Food and cooking is a art style many people enjoy. Looks delicious i wish we had restaurants like that around here.
Wonderful! Thanks Vice! I really like Andrew Z. More of him please.
Great episode, thanks!
Thanks for the upload. It was cool to see the others side if Andrew not in mainstream television.
awesome episode!!
This guy is SPECTACULAR !
Truly one of the best out there !
I love his open mind on tasting food...
Really cool episode !

I love him. >< I always watch his show when I see it on.
i love andrew zimmern - he's very passionate about food, and the way he describes what he eats really gets your curious about the food. on a side note, his publicist is hoooot
great episode!
My mom works at Grand Ave. Vet, which is where Andrew Zimmern takes his cat for its' medical visits. She says he's a really nice dude and super down to earth!
Andrew Zimmern's commentary makes this video. The descriptions makes it awesome. Bring on a episode 2 with him or Eddie Hoang!
Hahahah, when Andrew said "and his girlfriend Taya", Taya's face was like "The fuuck..."
Damn, The first 50 seconds, I learned so much about Andrew that I never knew. I've been watching his show for years, and I never knew all that.
one of my favorites
this guy is so amazing🙌
This guy is briljant, so much knowledge
12:51 HIPSTER ALERT~!!!
taking a picture of someone taking a picture is so crème fresh.
Best Munchies episode to date!
This reminds me of my father, Jerry of Jerrys Famous Deli. It's now a franchise and ruined but he brought Dr. Browns soda to the West, Black Pastrami, and a whole bunch of other foods to the West Coast, this was fun food for thought. Thanks Vice.
i always watched bizarre foods, andrew always seemed like a cool dude and a fantastic chef.
Finally Andrew Zimmern on vice : Munchies.........FANTASTIC
For people like me who have seen this guy on tv a lot, I love to hear this. It's more interesting than the food.
Thank you for this! Andrew Zimmern is a badass.
I love this guy!
I always watch these clips when im starving and can't find a half decent place to get anything nice to eat. Its a kind of torture but i still watch it.. That Pasta looked intense
great episode
well said my friend. i most definately agree.
Andrew is so down to earth; him and Anthony Bourdain (RIP) I would love to have dinner with and talk about family recipes.
love you AZ
I met Andrew before he had a television show. He was just a chef on a local news station in Minnesota and he was a great guy.

This was a better episode of munchies then most.
Love this guy
I didn't realise he goes with the Bourdain method of explaining his past
well tony and andrew were great friends so its hardly surprising

Glad i am eating some food now while watching this, Thank the source other wise i would have been starving lol
LOVE Munchies!
Dude so into food, he got a slice of Proschuuut as a pocket square. Dat Gabagul!!
Sweet, watched him for years with my dad
just like music, or sports, or any activity can be. it can be "just it", or it can inspire you.
good episode
Zimmern knows how to describe what he eats. That's why the show is so great.
i love andrew zimmern so much haha
I think he meant guai-lo if it's Cantonese or law-wai if its Mandarin, not gaijin in a Chinese setting. I believe San Franscico at that time was mostly Cantonese.
He’s a national treasure
this was awesome.
Oh definitely. And very comfortable around people.
I love Andrew. His show is great, but more than that he always has the most positive attitude. He just seems like a straight up good guy.
For sure dude, his awesome.
Omg I wish I had friends like that who I can relate to on the food level... Who can appreciate what exquisite food really means. Who know that food IS the experience, not just the precursor to other activities...
Best one yet, without a doubt! There should be a "Munchies - Legends" or something! :)
