I recall Olivia once saying how much she understood Andy Gibb, because they were both 10£ Poms from England, and they connected with each other having grown up in Australia, their personalities were similar. They should have collaborated more on songs, she has the greatest voice I ever heard (apart from Karen Carpenter). And I can listen to Andy Gibb all day, such a sweet guy with a great voice.
So much talent on one stage it almost makes me cry. The wonderful sounds that these people put out individually and collectively was amazing. Thank you Dani for this trip down memory lane. 😊
Couldn't agree with you more, everything used to be so much more upbeat, innocent and honest.
At 55 watching this is a bitter sweet reminder of how great it was to be a kid of the 70s, bitter because of the state of the world today
Brilliant - all live, not auto tune, not backing tracks - just talent!
What a treasure this was! Legends! Hopeless Devoted must have been in so many weddings!
Most people don't realize that ABBA is one of the top selling artists all time in album sales.
GOAT of pop history
Yes they've sold over 400 million records. Only the Beatles have sold more
@@Vikinggirl1679 👍
This video is absolutely fantastic. Olivia Newton John, Andy Gibb, and Abba are three of my favorites from the 1970s. I have never seen this performance. Thank you to whoever found and requested this. What a treat!
This was 1978. A few years earlier, Olivia and ABBA competed in the Eurovision Song Contest of 1974, a contest which ABBA won with "Waterloo". A year later, all three would reunite again for the Music for UNICEF Concert of 1979, plus the Bee Gees, John Denver, Donna Summer, and more. They performed songs for which they donated their royalties for UNICEF, some in perpetuity.
Olivia came in 4th that year representing Great Britain.
Cannot go wrong with ABBA...they are number 1 for me and Olivia Newton John is a real treat..wonderful voice there too.Very nice to see them all together like this. Wonderful human beings...and very talanted. Andy Gibb too of course. What a nice gathering of artists there..its a pure joy.
Hi Dani, I think You sing alot like Olivia Newton John. Wishing You the best, this video really takes me back. Thank You So Much!
Olivia is awesome
Thank you Dani for taking me down memory lane, our Olivia as we here in Australia like to call her, a truly great performance.
Three of my favorite artists from the 70s! Thank you for sharing this treasure!
70;s music was the best. I was a kid and my Mom listened to the radio 24/7... Olivia is a god.
I just love this video if Abba, Andy Gibb and Olivia! What a fun time that had to be for all of them, and for the audience! My favorite Christmas present as a little girl was an Andy Gibb sweatshirt! I so loved it! This was around 1978 or so. You are so awesome, Dani!
Thank you, Amy! This was such a treat to watch! I'm so glad it brought you back to some childhood memories!
@@DaniAtkinson Greetings from Edinburgh Scotland, I loved her with ELO singing Xanadu.
Thanks for the reaction. This show was a big deal back then and still a treat to watch. All of them singing backup on the other singers songs. Do they even do shows like this now? Oh I forgot most can't really sing anymore. I guess it still goes on with country artist.
I enjoyed it watching “with” you this 3rd time. I certainly miss the 70’s and 80’s and the kind of music we had back then. 😢
Hi Dani. Thanks for reacting to my request. This Video showed part of what I loved growing up in the 70's and 80's. Great Artists would get together and Collaberate. Artists would cross Genres. It was all about the Music.
This is what happens when you get some of the best singers, in one small studio.
......'best singers, in the World.
I don't know if you could tell, but the high vocals on the chorus in "Fernando" was ONJ.😃
Dani is awesome.
Just a classic compilation. BTW, Olivia released an album about 10-12 years ago called Indigo, Ladies of Song in which she covers songs of other lady singers from the 60s-80s, including Karen Carpenter's Rainy Days and Mondays. Worth checking out. Even covers Minnie Ripperton's Loving You!
Great DVD
Her opening song originally had Ike Turner, of Tina and Turner, sing the Bass part. The contrast was unbelievable. And, they were all guests of Olivia. And they end it with an ABBA song.
Love it😀 Olivia is my fav female singer, Fantastic ❤️
THANK'S ... That was brilliant!!!!!
Olivia sings very well and beautiful
"Hoplessly devoted to you" is in the movie "Grease" from that year 1978. This is the scene where she sings it:

And she sings a duet with John Travolta, that were #1 in U.S. & U.K.
"You're the one that I want"

and another hit: "Summer nights"

A very special fact
30 years later they sang the two songs together again in an Olivia recital (they are very close friends)
excited to see them on RUclips
Andy Gibb, the youngest of the Bee Gees brothers, also sang very well and was very successful.
This was an special TV in US of Olivia Newton John, with Andy Gibb and ABBA as guest stars.
They all had their songs on the US Billboard charts:
Olivia with those from the movie Grease (with John Travolta)
ABBA reached #3 with
"Take a chance on me"
and Andy Gibb reached #1 with
"Shadow dancing"
It's a fantástic live show
Thanks for share it
GOD bless You
you are so right Dani .. Just beautiful music by lovely people.
Good reaction. You let it play mostly and your opinions are spot on.
As this is over a year old now I assume you have seen rhe video of their jamming session from the same show? Great fun and camaraderie!
Just wonderful Dani. I have enjoyed it. 🎵🎶🎧👍👍👍
So much talent on that stage.
Wow! I've never seen this clip before. Good find! I had such a crush on Olivia when I was a young boy. You should check out a really cool acoustic cover of "Hopelessly Devoted To You" by Rival Sons in Paste Studios - New York, NY
Greetings from Edinburgh Scotland, I loved her with ELO singing Xanadu.
That was fun. Elvis really liked Olivia Newton John as well. He even sang her song Let me Be There. Also check out the same group of Oliva Newton John, Andy Gibb and Abba singing Jailhouse Rock.
Judy Garland live 1962
Battle Hymn of the Republic
Thank you! I'd love to react to some Judy!
@@DaniAtkinson
It was 1962 not 57 live performance
Also I hope that you have added (Don’t) to your list of Elvis songs. Watch video from the movie.
I m sorry but at 25:15,when Olivia has kissed them all as thank you, what a LOVELY scream from her !! Pure scream of happiness .-)
I love how they all were all backup singers for each other.
Dani, There is a beautiful tribute video from Olivia to her best friend Karen Carpenter, sadly they never did a duet together, but you hear Olivia sing "Close to you"
Your best resction thank you!
Dani, Thanks for that reacts with all entertainers singing all those song. Its breath-taking and amazing.
What a show to have been at!
@Dani Atkinson
Here’s the link to Elvis singing Olivia’s song.
This was about six weeks before he passed away.😓

Thank you Darlin’ for the gifts you left for us to enjoy❣️
You’re still giving a whole lot of people, a whole lot of pleasure!🥰

Great performers from the 70s
Thank You for This God Bless.
...and that was only the last half of the show:) Looking forward to your reaction to the first half!
Love seeing this!!!
I recommend that you react to Elvis version of this great Oliva newton John song if you love me.
25:14,HOLY MOLY ,Olivia kisses Frida AND Benny on the mouth,no wonder he got a bit dizzy for a second !
One of the things that I love about all of the performances is that they are 100% live on stage. This is very evident on ABBA's performance of Dancing Queen. If you watch other "live" videos, they are often lip-synching to the record that has all of the background vocals. You don't get that here on this video.
This shows how great and outstanding Abba is. All songs are so dated but ABBAs songs sounds modern even today. Superstars
Very cool. Thank you.
Couldn’t click on this fast enough when I seen the title , thank you . 👍
I would like to suggest an old recording that elvis did titled blue moon. It was the b side of his first recording. It really shows what range he has in his voice
so genius musicais na minha geração
That second song is in the movie mama Mia, check it out
Wondering if you understood the meaning of, “Please, Mister, Please, Don’t play B-17. It was our song, It was his song, Now it’s over?”
The B-17 was an airplane used in the 2nd world war to bomb German industrial cities...
It was said that the life span of an average crew was about 5 missions...
Many young men didn't come back from these... those that did were often damaged either physically or mentally or spiritually...
so they never wanted to here a B-17 again!
That’s an interesting take. She’s definitely referring to not playing song B-17 on the juke box because it was their song. Wonder whether the songwriters purposely had the B-17 bomber in mind as another possible layer.
She was extremely beautiful, wasnt she, Olivia...of course, that was the ABBA ladies too....
You are ❤❤❤beautiful
She is so good, like Banks of Óhio,
Blast from my past
Love the Australian connection Mr. Gibb and Ms Newton John.
Another POM the Ozzies claim as theirs Lol...Ok , she was raised in OZ
@@macgmac7909 Same old reply from jealous Poms ...Olivia is an Australian Citizen and so was Andy Gibb THAT makes them Australian.
Olivia hogged the stage. It was her show. She never let anyone forget it.
As it should be. The other two artists were her guests. As a matter of fact, this was Abba's first US primetime TV appearance. Thanks to Olivia!😀
For once Olivia had a decent backing group... 🤠
And there on the stage were three of the best soprano singers in the 80s
All of them blonde... Olivia, Agnetha & Andy.
You have some pipes on you, too.
Thank you, Rick!!
They were good
Seen ur reaction to the"Eagles". Fact, the Eagles sold more albums and records than any other artist in the entire 20th century. That's what Obama said when he gave them the medal of freedom at the White House and he's correct. That's unbelievable achievement considering all the great music in the 20th century.
Awsome reaction please react to free me by Roger Daltrey it's truly amazing
Please react to Thank you for the music by ABBA
Will do! More abba coming soon!
👏👏🤜
How about another beatle song ?
Wow. So much going on there. A couple of observations. Andy Gibb was tiny. Agnetha is like 3 inches taller than him. The girls from Abba are knockouts.
