Man, this brings back memories. This was my first Call of Duty game. This, Big Red One and Call of Duty 3 were always my favorites. I lost interest after that.
This was the first serious war game I ever played. As a kid, I knew nothing about World War 2, so the intro did a great job of setting up who you were, where you were, and what had happened so far. Plus that speech was just awesome. I wasn't used to not having a weapon, so I felt like a fish out of water for half the mission. I’ll never forget getting this game for Christmas as a kid. Even though it took me FOREVER to make any progress, I actually did make it quite far into the story and I surprisingly remember a lot of it. There is a lot memories attached to this game. The sounds, music, and characters all strike me like I just heard them yesterday.
I was stuck at the cliff part where you had to climb to the bunkers...When I completed it I wrote it down on a paper and was so happy, man nostalgia...
"do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of germans you have killed!" played this game when i was 3, for some reason i always keep thinking back to this line, like a song stuck in my head
No one's probably going to see this, but, why are so many people complaining about the bad graphics. As a kid, everyone thought this was the peak of gaming. Now, I'm not a big graphics person, so I don't care what the game looks like.
"Do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of Germans you hav killed" that line is so iconic if I'm not mistaken Reznov says the same thing in WAW and it's a call back to this the most famous battle of stalingrad in video game history.
Big nostalgia. The score and campaign gave a very visceral and cold feeling. Even for the graphics of the time, moments like the opening sequence brought goosebumps. Not until World at War did I feel that again.
As a kid, this was definitely the first call of duty campaign I remember playing. I would replay this first Stalingrad mission over and over again cause I loved how it played and that speech at the beginning for not one step back is still goosebumps inducing.
This game brings me to tears, this was my very first call of duty, and every time I come back to it makes me remember that damn mission I couldn’t pass😂😢
Oh the nostalgia 😢 i remember this was my first cod on the ps2 i was like 10 and im now 23. I also didn’t know any English and did not really pay attention to the intros or understood what the soldiers said and just skipped everything. I came across this video randomly and it is so interesting to now understand whats going on and know some of the battles portrayed here, are inspired by real events.
first console entry in the COD series! Man this game has a special place in my heart. the atmosphere was darker then COD classic for PC and the story was more interesting with more in depth character development. the actually controls were a bit jank, very sluggish; however, I didn't care. I love this game so much I was willing to play through all of the wonderful jank.
This game is literally why I grew up a history buff. And the things I learned are historical and accurate. Definitely peaked my interests as a kid. Probably what sets my generation apart from the newer ones coming up.
I remember as a kid watching my father play for the first time when the game came out , I remember laughing because of the Commissar giving his speech and almost falling off the boat . As a 9 year old , that's the kind of stuff that would make you laugh without really understanding the context of war , my parents gave me the biggest shit storm and lecture about war and its atrocities . They thought I was laughing about people dying lol
Grew up playing these as a kid. Along with brothers in arm road to hill 30 and earned in blood. Man they knew how to write good stories and make a good experience and presentation with what they had at the time. These games deserve a remaster or a faithful remake.
This was an intense level for it’s time. There were no autosaves every 5 minutes and you had to HUNT to find medkits and if you got killed you’d practically start over.
Mano que nostalgia,ne lembro que eu jogava quando pequeno e que esse CoD me marcou pra caramba!!!!Sdds.. Fazia tempo que eu queria reencontrá-lo e finalmente o achei.😌
Man, it makes me cry seeing this cause this was my childhood. Not many will remember the VERY beginning of online clan play on this game, I was a member of the clan, one of the biggest clans on COD 1. PS2 LAN online play was at its infancy, clan battles were too. What a time to be alive. I remember one of the rare hackers on the game, Boss Nasty, one of two german hackers who used to terrorize online lobbies. 2004-2008 on this game was something that i'll cherish for life.

that song at 9:40...I've been looking for that song forever i looked at call of duty one to 3 and a shit ton of metal of honor sound tracks... totally forgot about finest hour... im so happy i found this song holy shit been in my memory since i played with game as a lil kid
Its called The flag must fall.

I still remember the first time I shot a pixeltruppen, just a silhouette in the red glow of that burning refinery.
No wonder I came to love history so much.
Everyone one saying this was the best cod or they need to remake it but I'm over here just amazed at how far ahead of it's time this game was. This is absolutely amazing especially for a early 2000s game, it really set the stage for future cods and medal of honor games.
it was ahead of its time, indeed
Yea but this was the first game what peaple don't realise even you don't realise this was the first game developed for consoles only call of duty first console game was finest hour always has and always will surprise they don't backwards compatible finest hour and the xbox 360 version but the original still is finest hour

So three days after Dimitri and Reznov kill General Ansel the Russians take-back Stalingrad.
@@jeffcarroll1990shock the battle of Stalingrad lasted for a year. There’s plenty of time
@@permafrost8322 I know that. I was simply stating that real progress in the Battle of Stalingrad took place three days after Dimitri and Reznov killed General Ansel.
9:38 the music on this mission fitted in perfect with the gameplay
It hit me so hard the first time I played this game and I find it so odd that they only used this theme once for the entire game. Like it should have been the official COD theme song.
What is the song?
@@carloslaguardia2190 CoD Finest Hour Soundtrack - The Flag Must Fall
@@carloslaguardia2190 There is a bit of a mix going on here, but one of the main songs in this scene is "O the deep, deep love of Jesus".

Kamepa Totally agree. Favorite shooters.
Kamepa only because it was easy lol you kids hate the new ones because it's too hard lol
Bowens92 lol my brother needed help with the cod aw story and it was easy as hell. Then again,he's not much of a gamer, but still I find the new ones easy compared to older games.
I don't know what you think you're talking about, but the older ones were actually harder. The new ones are very easy.
Lol claiming the newer cods being harder than the old is a true sign that you're scared to admit the newer cods is indeed hard lol.
If the new cods were easy nobody would hate it lol same with tranzit lol
My very first FPS... It is a shame to see what Call of Duty has become. RIP Call of Duty.
You didn't see the trailer for Call of Duty: WWII? I agree that last year's Infinite Warfare is trash, but Sledgehammer Games is going the right approach by setting this year's game in World War II again.
I did see the trailer, and I was thinking the same as you... until I see some actual gameplay, and so I maintain it, Call of Duty is really dead.
It's out and I'd say you were right. Now it's a politically-correct streamlined milked-cow
Not completely only half dead as COD Black Ops 3 had an good story with a WTF going on plot twist at the end. Also from what I've seen Sledgehammer just has to tweak how it did WW2 and take more risks like WAW. Anyone else still play that great COD?
zoubida90 well now you know cod is dead because ww2 was dog shit.
Cowards and traitors will be shot….
Never have a line in a video game stuck with me for the whole game
Truly amazing scene
I remember having so much trouble on the second half of the mission, so many hours wasted it took me 3 days to beat it
Luke White same, I used to get stuck in the tunnel parts, watching this is so nostalgic
I was stuck at the cliff part where you had to climb to the bunkers...When I completed it I wrote it down on a paper and was so happy, man nostalgia...
Nicholas Oliva I was stuck on the Last mission with that fucking bridge
Rock God i was stuck on the tank factory mission
Asher Gresso That was a bitch too, I'd say it was the second hardest mission for me

"do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of germans you have killed!" played this game when i was 3, for some reason i always keep thinking back to this line, like a song stuck in my head
Kaiser from Project Wingman said exactly the same words, well except the germans you have killed part
This game was half history book half video game. All time classic.
Anyone in 2019 think this game should be remastered?
I kind of feel it would lose a part of that magic that made it epic in the first place if it got remastered.
No just leave it like it is. Activision will screw it up some how like they did with MWR

I love this game. One of my favorites on the PS2 and I still replay it to this day. So many memories.
9:15. I remember getting so hyped as kid that I would rush the MG’s with everyone lol
At the beginning I always kept trying to take a different route up the hill to see if I would survive. It would never happen.
That intro speech damn. I still love hearing it to this day.
"The sight of my home Stalingrad infuriates me. It's as if hell itself were burning"
No one's probably going to see this, but, why are so many people complaining about the bad graphics. As a kid, everyone thought this was the peak of gaming. Now, I'm not a big graphics person, so I don't care what the game looks like.
The sound of a Stuka descending down on to you will forever remain ingrained in my head because of this game.
This game sparked my interest in learning history. The mix of actual footage and in game cut scenes teach so much 👏
Yeah. I thought the Iraq War was bad back in 2006, then I played this- Stalingrad was a daily Iraq War.
"Do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of Germans you hav killed" that line is so iconic if I'm not mistaken Reznov says the same thing in WAW and it's a call back to this the most famous battle of stalingrad in video game history.
This was the first cod i ever played, so nostalgic😌
Big nostalgia. The score and campaign gave a very visceral and cold feeling. Even for the graphics of the time, moments like the opening sequence brought goosebumps. Not until World at War did I feel that again.
I remember 10 years old me when i see this scen at 13:06 i really want to cry this was my frist sacrifice I've seen in gaming history

It was a honor to play this as a kid 💙
first console entry in the COD series! Man this game has a special place in my heart. the atmosphere was darker then COD classic for PC and the story was more interesting with more in depth character development. the actually controls were a bit jank, very sluggish; however, I didn't care. I love this game so much I was willing to play through all of the wonderful jank.
I’m 20 right now, puts things in perspective. This also just gave me so much melancholic nostalgia. I remember crying as a kid when the sergeant died
I just found this guys channel in 2022 and lol if this isn't the best nostalgia trip ive had in awhile.
This game is literally why I grew up a history buff. And the things I learned are historical and accurate. Definitely peaked my interests as a kid. Probably what sets my generation apart from the newer ones coming up.
The motivation of Soviet Union against the German Troch always fascinates me.
When "Call Of Duty"Name was actually meaning something.
The speech at the beginning man, the music makes it so emotional!
Grew up playing these as a kid. Along with brothers in arm road to hill 30 and earned in blood. Man they knew how to write good stories and make a good experience and presentation with what they had at the time. These games deserve a remaster or a faithful remake.
4:22 good motivacional speech!
This game’s cutscenes taught me more about history than most teachers
Man, it makes me cry seeing this cause this was my childhood. Not many will remember the VERY beginning of online clan play on this game, I was a member of the clan, one of the biggest clans on COD 1. PS2 LAN online play was at its infancy, clan battles were too. What a time to be alive. I remember one of the rare hackers on the game, Boss Nasty, one of two german hackers who used to terrorize online lobbies. 2004-2008 on this game was something that i'll cherish for life.
I get chills when he says "The red army refuses to retreat."
My very first COD game. Back when the franchise was good and enjoyed looking forward to the next installment.
