This is great advice, but as a person who has been partaking in the traffic university and the school of walking for a very long time, i must say that its not learning that is the most important thing but rather the implementation of that learning.

For 20 years i almost never watched tv and never listen to the news. I barely new what was going on in the world but i was productive and considered myself successful making over 2M dollars in that period. Then i changed my job and habits starting to listen to tv and keeping in touch with the news and everything fell apart. In the following 10 years I almost lost all my life savings which was high in the 6 figures. Now about 3 years ago i completely stoped watching tv. No tv anymore, zero. I also stoped reading newspapers, and about 6 monts ago i started listening to podcast like this one constantly. I mean constantly. Like every time i’m not using my head to think or talk to someone which is probably over 3 hours a day, and my life is getting back on track again, hoping to go back to the 6 figure income this year.

My estimonial about stop watching the news: He's 100% right. I stopped watching the news half a year ago. In fact I stopped browsing facebook around the same time. And after a while, I don't miss them one bit. I'm WAY happier, have way less stress.

Robin! I also invented a house wife university. At the moment I am in my transition period between careers, and I hate house work, so I started to listen to audio books while busy with my house chores..I even doing something extra from time to time as too engage in listening my book and don't want to stop:)

For 2 years I have been consuming information through podcasts and audiobooks during my commute, grocery shopping, running, walking, washing dishes, cleaning the house. I can tell you that consuming more information didn't make me "grow" in my life. I couldn't implement many techniques discussed by people on these podcasts and audiobooks because I was too busy consuming information. Now I focus on just one task at a time. For me multi tasking by listening to a podcast or audiobook while doing above mentioned tasks is not really helping.

    • @IwearabowBlogspot1
      @IwearabowBlogspot1 7 лет назад +3

Shruthi Reddy I agree with you. For me personally, I can't multitask like that, and I don't really believe in multitask either. I can't focus on listening to something while doing a task. But I think it's a good idea when I'm just waiting (traffic jam as passenger, waiting a line or something). Just a no while I'm doing something that I need focus on even just a simple task like brushing my hair. But still a great video :)

That's great advice guys but I've also noticed that people seem to be getting very detached from the physical world when they have a set of headphones stuck in or on their ears. I too am at fault but I've learned to balance it by only restricting my walking, running and driving learning to certain days. I use these other times to interact with my environment. Saying hello to people when you walk , being in the moment when you drive, run, etc. All comes down to a bit of balance. Your thoughts?

yes- and also, there is so much anecdotal evidence (and neuroscientific findings) that suggest that our best creative ideas come in times of quiet and solitude -- something we are experiencing in major deficit in modern life. One book that digs deeper into this is "BrainChains: Discover your brain, to unleash its full potential in a hyperconnected, multitasking world" --- check it out at Traffic University. ;)

yehh exactly !! Most of the learning of our life is of informal type and that's actually by the human interaction . Therefore I think it is most important to balance the both .

I agree that the best way to listen to podcasts and educational audios is in your car, as Vishen said - where I'm relaxed and can focus.
When you go grocery shopping it is better your brain to be in what you are doing, not in listening to some valuable information and missing it. Learning is focusing, understanding and putting it on the shelves in your head. So walking and running are not the best ways to do it. I would not reccomend doing that at all.
What I do is that I somethimes listen to something while I wash the dishes, absolutely routine action, or do house chores.
So those are my two best ways to save time and educate myself - when I'm driving or doing house routine.
And, of course, sitting and JUST learning is what you ideally should do.

nata4followjoy Do you not realize that every time you drive a vehicle you are controlling a potentially lethal weapon?
In case you do not watch, listen or read world news, I can assure you that terrorists (and others) understand exactly how lethal a vehicle can be, even without the addition of high explosives.
Do you think driving a car can be classed as an “absolutely routine action”?
I can agree that the majority of the time spent behind the wheel of a vehicle can be easy for most people and seemingly so boringly routine, in execution, as to not require much thought at all.
However, that is a false sense of security, when the difference between losing your life and/or robbing someone else of their’s, can be determined by a millisecond difference in your reaction time to a dangerous situation.
If you are completely focused on everything someone is saying, that has nothing to do with the threats you encounter in the physical world around you, you will not just be slow to react to those threats, you may not even know your life is in danger to begin with.

I agree that this message is of paramount importance to anybody concerned with maximizing their potential, however, the time within your daily routine, which you are suggesting be used to focus on this message will probably cost some of your listeners and others, their lives.
What we have to refocus our minds on is the fact that every time you drive a vehicle you are controlling a potentially lethal weapon.
In case you do not watch, listen or read world news, I can assure you that terrorists (and others) understand exactly how lethal a vehicle can be, even without the addition of high explosives.
Do you think driving a car can be classed as an absolutely routine action?
I can agree that the majority of the time spent behind the wheel of a vehicle can be easy for most people and seemingly so boringly routine, in execution, as to not require much thought at all.
However, that is a false sense of security, when the difference between losing your life and/or robbing someone else of their’s, can be determined by a millisecond difference in your reaction time to a dangerous situation.
If you are completely focused on everything someone is saying, that has nothing to do with the threats you encounter in the physical world around you, you will not just be slow to react to those threats, you may not even know your life is in danger to begin with.
So, if you are a passenger during your daily commute, do with your time as you will. If you are in control of a vehicle, never take your focus off of driving.

Learning is powerful but my question is what do we say to people employers who want to be comforted by qualifications which we can't afford? Accredited Courses cost a fortune. Yes I can read a book. I know my self what I know. But to the person who is blind they want to just see the certificated degree. I can't afford this. And CPD credits are for people after a degree. Most jobs now ask for a degree. Why is it so expensive?

Is it possible, for the subconscious mind, to DECEIVE the conscious mind, to believe. that the destiny of a person, is life & restoration, when in reality, it is actually, death & destruction? How, to see through the deception? Being negative, about the 'negative', is also being negative? Is it possible, that a person, can mistaken his/her own narrow-mindedness, as positive thinking?

YaHoWah Christian your "own" truth is revealed when living truly from the heart. that's not to say that one cant steer too far from the heart on their spiritual journey. it is not the Intellectualism the heart is after rather the experience of expansiveness, that is beyond what the mind thinks is logically or even useful at the time. I think the goal is total integration and exceptence of any void ( unmet disires ). we then integrate our evolved mind with the true purpose of its higher self. ya I'm not sure that made any sense I'm flying high right now.. lol

Can it be true, that it is either, one's own truth, or, is somebody ELSE's truth? The truth, is, the truth, & if, everything, is true, then, what is false? GOD, is, in ALL, because, the OMNIPRESENCE & OMNISCIENCE OFFICE of the ALMIGHTY GOD [whose one & only surname, is YHWH], is hold, by the DIVINE, & by SATAN? Being in GOD, can mean, either, BEING in the DIVINE, as destined [through REBIRTH of the LIVING SPIRIT of GOD], or, continue, to be, BEING in SATAN, as destined? BEING in the DIVINE, means, expressing ACTUAL [namely, good activities], or, expressing role playing [namely, evil activities], just as BEING in SATAN, means, expressing ACTUAL [evil activities], or, expressing role playing [namely, good activities]? To have CONTINUAL experiences, one, have to be 'STABILIZED', among the void, lest one, is sucked, into the void, & becomes the void/NOTHING; & IN the void, there is NO experiences? The 'stabilizing' factor, is PERFECT logic? ALL information & ALL thought possibilities, MUST ULTIMATELY come, from an INFINITE SOURCE? The information & reasoning of the 7 Sentient Monsters of anti-Christianity, who is NOT born again, will be different from the information & reasoning of the 7 Sentient Saints of Christianity? Accepting the existence of void, does not necessarily must mean, that one, must be destined, to be, being in SATAN, whose INNERMOST core, is void, just as greeting somebody, doesn't necessarily must mean, that the one, who greets, believes EVERYTHING, that this somebody, believe in?

This is great but I don’t necessarily agree with the earphones in whilst walking, running or really just being out. First off all, humans need a break from that stuff and need to focus on the environment and moment in time. But most importantly, imagine if you didn’t hear a car suddenly coming because you had your earphones in and got hit? Or if someone had a gun and another was yelling to you to run or mind out? You wouldn’t hear.
