    Having watched Paul and his father from the outset I was amazed that Paul survived. His father reminded me of my own and I wished I could have spoken to Paul and described how I was able to manage it. I was happy to see him break away from Sr. and strike out on his own. He has a creative mind and a willingness to work and help others.

      Your correct but as a punk kid he had no work ethics. If he came to work on time and worked to get bikes finished on time Sr would not had anything to bitch about. Jr's lackadaisical work ethic he was a worthless employee and didn't set a good example for other workers.

    I'm an old man now, and have been a biker all my adult life. I have ridden many different motorcycles. Like most riders of my generation, I have always done my own mechanical work on my bikes. I built my own 1952 Harley Panhead bobber which I rode for many years. I was never positively impressed by the motorcycles produced on American Chopper. They were "works of art", and, as such, were beautiful to look at; but, I can assure you, seeing their geometry, they would be terrible to ride, uncomfortable on anything but the shortest trip, and with dangerously bad handling. These were creations meant to appeal to what we old time bikers call "profile artists," people who rarely if ever really ride, and are more interested in appearance than substance, rich boys with expensive toys to show off to their friends.

      I absolutely 100% agree with everything you said. If you ask me, they are just poser machines and not really a bike. Couldn’t imagine how hard it would be to do a long haul stretch on one of these. I’m old too, so give me a Custom Soft-tail any day 😂.

    I have seen some video/photos of those bikes and no matter how nice the bikes look, I didn't see odometer or speedometer, if you try to resale used bike, it would ne nice to tell the buyer how many miles it has been driven, value goes down if there is no proof of miles. I don't understand why smart people forget these very simple things.

  • @Starship007
    @Starship007 9 месяцев назад +2

    Great show. Bikes more for Sunday meetups or museums. No or minimal suspension with raked front end and limited steering range made for difficult handling. Braking another issue. This is not for cross country just to admire. Basic Harley design. Offer many styles essentially same bike by changing gas tank and fenders. Engine performance not really center stage because of riding ergonomics. You do not want a 200 horsepower chopper with no suspension, poor brakes, and handling. You definitely want stability control if 200 horsepower with traction control, ABS, and corners ABS/Cornering traction control. Stability control is a standard on high performance motorcycles. In 2012 stability control mandated in all new cars to
    Save lives.

    And their bikes have no resale value. I know a guy that bought one for 6k from a guy in Houston that had more money than sense. The seller had never owned a bike, the bike scared him to death and he literally only drove it around his neighborhood. My friend harvested about 10K worth of parts to build a soft tail bobber.
