I have facial paralysis from a TBI. I’ve had surgery on the 7th cranial nerve and an endoscopic eyebrow lift. And I get Botox for it every three months and that helps a lot with symmetry and movement.
My facial paralysis started in 2002 but I didn't notice it until 2006. It was my hair dresser who thought I was having a stroke. Sadly my face continued to deteriorate and now I can no longer smile on the left side of my face. I can move my eyebrow and close my eye. I wish I could get help. It's now 21 years and it's not gotten better at all. Absolutely gutted and so soul destroying.😢😢
Thank you for this, please my bell palsy is as a result of Ramsay hurt and I was initially diagnosis wrongly until in the second week of the onset. I was given Acyclovir 800mg and defal 30 mg for two weeks. I am in my fourth weeks now,I can close my effected eye now but my smile is still awkward. I still experience pains and ringings in my left ear and crawling iching sensation in my ear and throat. My movement is not balance whenever I am exposed to noisy environments. Please can I still take steroid tab in this fourth week? Thank you for your anticipated response.
I've had left side facial paralysis for the past 2 weeks. I went to the E.R. but they actually did nothing. No tests except blood work for Lyme disease. Just automatically said Bell's Palsy.
Hi, I can't comment on the workup that you had because I wasn't there, but for new onset facial paralysis often no imaging is needed. If you're still worried and would like to see an expert about it, I would recommend seeking out a neurologist or facial plastic surgeon in your area that treats facial paralysis. Good luck!
I’ve been suffering with facial paralysis for almost 3 years doctors said it was Bell’s palsy and it will go away, but I’m still experiencing severe pain and not able to smile and don’t have any movement on my left eyebrow so I just don’t know what else to do maybe you have some suggestions Thank you
Doctors can’t provide medical advice on social media, but I would certainly encourage you to see a facial plastic surgeon that treats patients with facial paralysis
My husband had bells palsy earlier this year and was given a steroid course for several days and came right after a few weeks. Now he's in hospital for some other illness. ( low sodium) and his bells palsy has come back, the hospital docs are stumped atm. All I know is that its very rare, just wondering if you've seen recurrent bells palsy and what may have caused it. Thanks :)
Recurrent Bell’s palsy is unfortunately common, and we often don’t know the cause. Usually treatment involves steroids and waiting to see if the nerve function improves for a period of up to a year. A surgeon experienced with facial paralysis would be the person to see. Very sorry about your husband’s situation!
Hi sir, I'm sandhiya.i affected Bell's palsy my face left side Last one month.i do physiotherapy 14 days now I'm alright . But my face left side little swelling to ear and mouth between. What I do ...and one doubt Bell's palsy again come to feature?pls reply
Hi Sandhiya, I’m glad to hear you’re recovering. My advice would be to seek out a physician near you that specializes in Bell’s palsy - either a facial plastic surgeon or neurologist. These videos are meant to be educational, and are merely the start. For specific advice about your case, I’d seek the guidance of your physician.
Hello Sir when i am speaking and smiling my right side of face is tending to left side i think its bells palsy,i visit a neurologist and he says theres nothing to worry about it,and i done ayurveda for this and not helping me,this condition is still.what to do please reply?
Hi, sorry to hear that you're experiencing some trouble. Sometimes for partial facial paralysis, the best course of action is to wait until the nerve recovers, but it depends on why you have the paralysis. I would recommend seeking out a facial plastic surgeon near you that treats facial paralysis for a second opinion if you're still worried.
Currently no good treatments to regenerate nerves in mainstream clinical use. Interesting things coming in the future, but current reanimation techniques involve nerve transfers or nerve grafts. Would recommend a consultation with a facial reanimation surgeon near you to discuss options
Thank you so much, I have facial paralysis due to a brain tumour being removed. Even the Dr's don't understand why I get annoyed when they tell me I have a Bell's Palsy! 😏Xx
@@DrPeterVila thank you! My original surgery was 25 years ago, I'm doing well now thank you. It's been a struggle but knowledge is so empowering. I wish more Dr's would learn from you! 😏Xx
Hi, sorry to hear that. A facial plastic surgeon or neurologist would be the best type of doctor to ask about your specific condition. I cannot provide medical advice through the internet, only education. Best of luck with your recovery
I was born with facial palsy! Now 27 definitely better than I was younger because of the electrical stimulation I did as early as 5 days old. Please search for doctors and see what fits for your child. DO NOT WAIT! I was told my nerve was weaker because I stopped physical therapy/ electrical stimulation
I had heated radio frequency microneedling and my eyebrow went down slowly over 2 weeks I can’t close one eye all the way and my temple pounding vein protruding for over 2 months. My eyebrow is dropped I don’t know which one I have it hasn’t gotten better
@@DrPeterVila I was diagnosed with trigeneral neuralgia is it temporary and with Bell’s palsy how could I have gotten this from radio frequency microneedling
@@DrPeterVila I had a mri and it’s trigeneral neuralgia it’s been 7 months and my eyebrow is still down droopy eyelid. Does it take more than 7 months to heal or will my eye be permanently droopy. My ear hurts like hell my jaw and temple and back of my lower scalp. Does trigeneral neuralgia cuz a droopy eyelid
My facial paralysis was caused by surgery to remove a brain tumor 2 years ago. I would explain the difference when someone would say I have Bell's Palsy. It's been quite a journey, but I'm happy to say now I'm a grade 2 on the House Brachmann scale. I was a grade 5 after surgery 😊 And I still see miniscule improvement to this day! Thank you Dr for this video❤
5 months in and I'm still trying to recover from Bell's Palsy. Have gone to 2 Acupuncturists and a RAPID massage therapist for months. I feel at about a 70% recovery. How long do u recommend waiting before consulting with a plastic surgeon? Heard Botox can help too.
Hi, sorry that you're dealing with Bell's palsy, but great to hear that you're recovering. It's never too soon to engage a plastic surgeon, as the surgeon can help set expectations and get to know what your goals are, and will likely have you follow up after some time to see what kind of progress you're making. Botox can be helpful to correct asymmetries. Best of luck with your journey!
