If Liu Kang can micro-manage fate to that level, there shouldn't be any Mortal Kombats to begin with, don't you think? So, if Scorpion is yet again a vengeful specter whose family and clan were murdered, then it's Liu Kang's fault. But that's just an example. If a monk remakes the universe, it should be all serene and peaceful, yes?

Personally I would have preferred sindel to have been good originally. I sort of need someone who is the opposite of Cetrion. So someone who is in the dark but serve the cause of the protagonists, whilst Cetrion serves the light but stands against the good guys. I think it would have been a nice dynamic personally.

The original canon where Sindel killed herself to keep Shao Kahn from invading/merging Earthrealm now makes absolutely NO sense since they ret-conned her into having always been evil...
Now in the new timeline Quan Chi was the one who killed her staging it as a suicide, Shao Kahn never investigates it and buy the story of her suicide but for some reason in these cutscenes Shao Kahn knew that Quan Chi killed her. Later she was resurrected and supposedly brainbashed by Quan Chi and killed all of Earthrealm's champions except for Johnny and Sonya just to die again and become a revenant.

Tbh I tend to believe that "new" Sindel is merely still brainwashed and it never got removed like it did in the original timeline. Her memories are either real that she regrets in the og timeline, choosing to keep the lie going for her daughters sake, or made up by Shao Kahn to go along with her brainwashed personality.

I think the fact Shang Tsung was the one who suggested they revive her and the smirk on his face when she makes the Raiden comment points to the possibility he purposely left her brainwashed in order to create the chaos she did in order to easily grab the Crown while both sides killed each other. Aftermath is after all Shang Tsung playing everyone
This is just an alternate universe as far as I’m concerned.
Unfortunately, it's not. MK is one universe with one timeline that gets reset from time to time. Don't lose hope, however, Liu Kang will probably want a good mother in law.
@@kavalkahn Liu Kang is the owner of the Hourglass now so he can change a little bit of history and redeming characters but at the time we don't know wich ending is canon.
@@kavalkahn If Mk has one timeline how could both the evil versions of some characters be summoned to be at the same time it's original version and no only that, when Shao Khan broke the Good Liu kang's legs, his evil version had his broken too. Also it's stated that THERE was a good version of Sindel but the one Kronika brought is her evil version that died and got resurrected as nobody knew it was the evil version.
@@euqinemor It's one timeline, but time was bent. It was an intersection between the 90s and 2020s. Revenant Liu Kang got his leg broken because his past self had legs broken, this is the confirmation of a single timeline. Also, it's clearly stated in the game Sindel was always evil in this timeline, the one we loved was reworked into the current. Kronika does this all the time.

I get what they were trying to do, by changing things up with her character to try and make her an unexpected quantity, but back in the older games, she was an unexpected quantity. In the old games, Sindel looked evil as “F” but we come to understand that she’s such a strong character and is trying to make amends for leaving her daughter.
You can’t change an expectation of an expectation. They knew people didn’t like this Sindel, but instead of trying to find a way to redeem Sindel in Aftermath, they fully committed to her.
It was so sad when katana thought her mother came back to her I even thought but she was still corrupted it broke my heart but thank God I chose Liu kang's side he made her good again in the new era
NRS would probably not allow Lui Kang to be able to change Sindel to good again in the New Era, because 'appearance means evol LOL!' reasons.

I think the issue here is really about the continuity of the story. It was weird when she is made evil this time. When I first saw this, I was so confused by it and took to the internet for hints of what was going on man

Love MK to the core of my bones, but it baffles me they opted to make living Sindel BAD and abdicated from Revenant Sindel who was already deeply vile. Her revenant version was creepy as hell, awesome looks and her brief appearance was terrifying. Besides, OG Sindel > current Sindel.
The old timeline was just better! It had the original MK characters! No stupid guests, no Cassie Cage, it felt like MK! I hate this new timeline with Sindel evil and all the original MK characters (the 3D Era characters) barely even here anymore! I wish MK would just go back to the way it was in the early 2000s 🙁

I played aftermath, and I never got the idea that Sindel was actually evil. I thought Shang Tsung had put her under his spell again. At least that's what I'm choosing to believe. It doesn't matter too much with the new era. I'm sure Liu Kang will make Sindel good. I'm also hoping he makes Mileena good too, because I really like Mileena, and I think she's kind of just misunderstood/mistreated/has literally never been around the right people.

After all this years we find out Sindel was having an affair with Shao Kahn while still married to the King Jarod.
MK9’s version of Sindel is more evil than her role from the original timeline.

Well to be honest i am okay with this story of Sindel too but instead of making her completely evil she could be a gray character. She could have had a conflict within herself and couldnt be sure who to support as kahn at first... i thought like this when i see her facial expression during she hugs kitana. Unfortunately what lacks in that story is the depth of the character.
When the people that made the character don’t even know it! My god you literally gave two endings in mk9 confirming her background and then sold us a dlc full of lies and said it’s the truth.

I just….. I feel like people forget that MK11 Sindel makes total sense when you realize Raiden jumped lines in MK9.
Sindel in the original timeline iterations may have been a good woman, but somewhere along the line she went bad. After MK9, when dying Raiden jumped the lines to give his warriors a second chance, we don’t know what happened to Sindel to make her evil, but she is.
It just makes sense.

Even dialogue from raiden what said to kitana in her story chapter in mk9 indicated that sindel was good,not evil.

SupportGaming 2020 the idea for Sindel was stupid anyway because they said in the new timeline she killed her own husband after Shao Khan had captured her realm and then later on married Shao Khan and then was later on killed by Quan Chi because he knew she be a threat towards Shinnok in the Netherrealm. Quan Chi had also put a ward around Earthrealm and later on in MK9 he told Shao Khan that Sindels’ death was ruled a suicide.

Fun Fact: Sindel and Shao Kahn from Aftermath are both from different times. This Sindel is the current one that was killed by Nightwolf and become Quan Chi's revenant. Shao Kahn from the other hand is the one of the past during the events of Outworld's Tournament in Mortal Kombat 2011 because the current one is still dead.
That's why it's weird when he says she was never brain washed, how does he know that? He probably doesn't know she is.

I do think the retcon makes absolutely no sense and completely shits on her backstory. HOWEVER she does make a kickass villain and really it makes her stand out more. The problem with her original character was she didn’t really have anything to set herself out from the other characters at the time. She was queen of Edenia and Kitanas mother sure but she kinda got sidelined by other characters. But now she is more popular than ever being the villain once more. She’s pretty much a power hungry, privileged scheming snob and I love it

The Good Sindel was brainwashed for the whole of _one game,_ and became a character regretful of what she did, doing right by her daughter, and she had one of the most wholesome scenes in a series known for senseless violence.
The Evil Sindel is not only an insult to what the original character was, but just a poorly-penned fustercluck all around.

She recruits Shao Khan but not as a lover, as a comrade as she will offer to somehow make a different timeline where Edenia and Earthrealm don't exist and Shao Khan can't konquer them instead taking Chaosrealm and Orderrealm instead, BOOM!

Wait....didn’t they already establish in Mk9 before the events of the Koleseium when Kung Lao died that Sindel was dead and had placed a ward on Earthrealm which Shao Khan mentions later after Quan Chi heals him is what prevents him from invading so that Earthrealm wouldn’t suffer Edenia’s fate? And now Sindel mentions how she killed Jerrod which would have hasten Edenia’s fall and yet she wanted to spare another realm it’s fa- goddamnit what the hell Netherrealm can you please keep you events and characters consistent?
Still baffles me to this day how MK11 managed to undo one of mortal kombat’s most noble and good characters.

I personally wouldn’t care or at the very least could tolerate this stupid character assassination schlock if a couple things happened: 1. This was actually set up and wasn’t some “twist” thrown in for the sake of having a “twist” every single mention of her pre this disgusting schlock sees Sindel as the kind, caring queen everyone knows (her bio in MK9 explicitly says she was under mind control), they even changed her death from a selfish act to a noble one as it placed a barrier around Earth to stop it from being invaded, her MK9 ending has her utterly destroy Kahn and then rule over a demerged Edina and Outworld where people of both realms happily follow her because she’s just that awesome, MKX she is still good. And 2. She was actually consistent with her hammy evilness as she makes it very apparent she despises weakness (she happily betrayed Jarrod because she saw him as weak and Kahn as strong, in one of her intros she wants to be reassured Kahn hasn’t grown weak and in another I’m pretty sure she berates him for being such a pathetic loser) so it makes “perfect” sense she goes out of her way to not only free Kahn but to bring him back to full health after he was beaten, blinded and then left in a cell to rot, hell she finds him getting the crap beaten out of him by the MK equivalent of Red Shirts, she should want absolutely nothing to do with him based all evidence provided by she fawns over him like a loving wife like something out of a cheesy ass romance.
There is no set up for this, every single mention of her prior to this has her being mentioned fondly and even worse the “logic” used for this to happen is (apparently) “she looks evil, so therefore she is evil.”

MK9 had most of the best designs. Everything after that is sorta flippy-floppy.
The saddest part is at 5:23, it looked like Sindell was having 2nd thoughts about betraying Kitana.

How come out of all the things that happened throughout the MK history, Liu Kang is the only one that learned his lesson in not to make any sort of deal with Shang Tsung(the devil) at any cost? Why is everyone so blind and not having second doubts or a contingency plan for when this backfires? They should know not to ever work with your enemies. The ONLY wise one is Liu Kang. I would’ve said to keep close to him at all times and keep an eye on him ALWAYS.

Her husband's soul is a part of Ermac, but so are hundreds (or thousands) of other souls. Though it's just part of his arcade ending, so it isn't clear if it's true or not.
