Couldn’t agree more on your assessment of the tonemaster. I think you’d love the Magnatone Starlite Im thinking about snagging one

My DR Tone Master has been fantastic over the last 2 years. Solid performer in church and very easy to transport. My impression is that the TM Princeton is not at the same level as the TM DR. Regardless, I have had tube amps and wouldn't trade my DR TM for a tube version. Distorted or clean it performs, and sound great. Also we can plug it straight into the sound system at Church is a huge bonus. Best is the fact I can play it at bedroom level and really enjoy what it has to offer. Also, I believe speakers can time to break in to, but take that with a grain of salt.

The old Princeton is a beauty, don't mess with it or change cabs or vinyl cover. Keep it 100 % , the change in cab could alter the tone and maybe make it sound weird, it sounds good as is That 50s strat and the Vox and Princeton ara all keepers.

Thanks I fully agree! I think I should have been more clear on what I meant on changing the cab. I just wanted to get a new cab so I don't have to worry too much about potentially bumping it around, but I would also keep the original cab of course (:

i have played many expensive hand build tube amps for over 40 years and now play my fender tonemaster dr for the last 4 years , i can't tell a difference , it sounds and play's just like all the tube amps i once had , but hey to each it's own , i also had the fender amreican orginal 50's strat ( 2 tone sunburst ) , great guitar , but i didn't like the stickyness off the fretboard , so i sold it , go figure : )

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's always good to see that this isn't a "one size fits all" kind of thing 😀

Hey man, nice video! I played for like 10 years on q squier affinity strat and now also have a affinity telecaster i been following an American standard from like 1999 for 1300 dollars (maybe i can get some discount) would you recommend jumping to that or what? I love my squier strat but something tells me "get the real deal, an american made one " but i don't know if it's going to be that much better of a guitar

I would say going from a squier affinity to an american standard would be a great move! You should definitely notice a difference in quality. Of course if you're able to play it first before buying then that would be ideal, but if not, I still think it should be a noticeable improvement from your squier.

I love my Casino...if I had two I'd put flat wounds on one and round wounds on the other. ..I have round wounds on it and flats on my 335 and my 125 archtop

I own a Fender Tone Master Princeton Reverb and I’m disappointed. It has the mid range scooped out kinda like an acoustic guitar amp would. To fatten the sound I’m using my blue Boss compressor pedal and my grey Boss 7 band EQ pedal.
