Witcher. Creation of the Witcher Schools

The witcher Schools: the Bear, the Viper, the Cat, the Griffin and the Wolf. It always seemed to us that their history was lost in the mysteries of time. It seemed that no one would ever know about them. How did they come into being? Who founded them? What are their traditions? What is their history? We all know Geralt of Rivia - adept of the School of the Wolf. But what about the other schools and their heroes?

This video got me thinking, why the school of the wolf? It makes entirely no sense whatsoever when you consider every other school's token animal is a lone hunter - Bears, Vipers, Gryphons etc. Wolves are not solitary predators, they're pack hunters but Witchers fight alone. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Keep it up, I'm enjoying these history videos.

Each school had specialities.. The bear school favored heavy armor and large weapons, the viper school were adept at poisons and favored daggers, the cat school were gifted at espionage, the griffon school were scholarly and more familiar with how to deal with magic, the wolf school were the best trackers and the most versatile..

you've never heard tales of a lone wolf??
Generally considered as pack animals, there is always a random wolf out there abandoned by its pack, or a survivor after its pack was slaughtered, survivng on its own, and sometimes finding its way into a new pack and bonding with them, then its no longer a lone wolf.
Probably not the reason, but its documented and its even a saying, being a lone wolf.
