This really helped me understanding Iori better i first thought that he was just a rival of the main protagonist and a rude guy but this helped me to understand him better and it made him more likeable for me. When i heard his theme song in KOF all stars i could't believe he was a true bad guy this video helped a lot
The only part that was left out is when Orochi came. All the KOF teams attacked Orochi but he held his own. Chizuru, Iori and Kyo were the last three to put him away.
Absolutely brilliant summary. This is by far the most concise and sensible version of Iori's backstory I have come across, it does a great job breaking down the extremely complex and confusing series into its most significant events and looking into the origin of this unique character.
in 99 he didn't , for story reasons he was suppose to be retired for the whole nest saga but they chose not to since he's one of the most popular character in the franchise. i would love to see K' and Iori's relationship since both hate kyo. and in the 2000 intro you could see both K' and iori kinda smiling back at each other for a moment before kyo's silhouette shows up and turning K's smile to visible anger.

@@RexcorJ I don't really think they're family.. after Genjuro killed him, Iori revived and was immediately met by Tsuki no Yoru Orochi no Chi ni Kurufu Iori( a clone created by M.Bison) and Tsuki no Yoru Orochi no Chi ni Kurufu Iori killed him immediately.. if you read the comics, not sure if it states this in the games booklet, you get 3 lives and there's only one way to get into the "parallel world tournament", you have to die in the real world.. I can't say Ioris third death cause I only made it to the 5th book and there's a total of 8.. 6, 7 and 8 are running some insane prices on Amazon and ebay.. i should see if i can read it online somewhere.. but one thing, Genjuro sliced one arm off iori and eventually diced him into a million pieces.. Tsuki no Yoru Orochi no Chi ni Kurufu Iori grabbed Ioris neck and ripped his head off..

You can also use some of the destiny anime scenes and stills from mangas!

Wow. Iori was always my favourite, but now I actually find him much more interesting as a character, knowing more about his history . I always thought he was just a villain because of his bad attitude, sadistic tendencies, killing intent and his hatred for Kyo, arguably the protagonist of the series. But he does have a surprising amount of depth to him and he's actually more of a hero than a villain, even if he doesn't realize or admit it, which I find both cool and amusing. Haha. XD I would like to actually see more of him, and I'd like to know more about why he hates Kyo so much. Like... what'd he do? I don't personally like Kyo too much either, to be honest, but... why the constant death threats? And why does he always seem to lose or tie with Kyo? In my opinion, Iori is either an equal or a superior fighter.
Remember he constantly wrestles with a demon god in his head yet is able to find the strength to fight everyone. That's how truly resilient , skilled and powerful Iori truly is.
Iori used to have a women that loved him... i believe the story is from those audio media stories SNK used to made back then with the original voice actors from the games and they are "canonical".... I believe the girl dies and Iori sings about her. Maybe he kept her at distance because the curse of the Yagami clan, or maybe her imminent dead is something he just didn't want as her final memory. Any way I think those audios could help you do some more videos.
Top KoF content bro. Don't mind everyone talking bad about your accent. I think it's cool. It gives your videos a unique character and warmth that wouldn't be the there otherwise. It was hard to grasp for the first video I watched, but I quickly got accustomed to it.

Thanks for this. I never took the time to explore the different endings of every KOF game so there's quite a few things that helps connect the dots here.
Very informative video, thanks for all the investigation you put into it! Gotta say, Iori's aggressive and violent style helped me more times that I can count back in the arcade days. It made me really like using him despite his (relatively) slow movements and short range physical attacks. Shame about the lore tho. It kinda feels like, as Bilbo would say, "butter scraped over too much bread". A good concept born from the Age of Edge, but having to drag this infinitely unresolved rivalry ends up draining it from what once felt like a novelty. Hopefully edgeboy will find the end he rightfully deserves and pass the torch, before he ends up embarrasing the Yagami clan (and his own legend) any further.
Iori and Kyo sound like one of those rivalries where they hate each other, but at the same time, likely see one another as their one true challenge instead of all the ridiculous bosses from this series. They both flex on demons, elementals, etc cause the only opponent they value is one another.
Love your videos, man. Just a quick add-on, Mature and Vice can materialize because Orochi sent them as agents to help Iori. Orochi didn't like the idea of his power being absorbed by Saiki.

It always bothers me that he had a strap that literally tied his legs together in his classic outfit.

Gotta say, Iori's aggressive and violent style helped me more times that I can count back in the arcade days. It made me really like using him despite his (relatively) slow movements and short range physical attacks.
Shame about the lore tho. It kinda feels like, as Bilbo would say, "butter scraped over too much bread". A good concept born from the Age of Edge, but having to drag this infinitely unresolved rivalry ends up draining it from what once felt like a novelty. Hopefully edgeboy will find the end he rightfully deserves and pass the torch, before he ends up embarrasing the Yagami clan (and his own legend) any further.

Iori and Kyo sound like one of those rivalries where they hate each other, but at the same time, likely see one another as their one true challenge instead of all the ridiculous bosses from this series. They both flex on demons, elementals, etc cause the only opponent they value is one another.

Just a quick add-on, Mature and Vice can materialize because Orochi sent them as agents to help Iori. Orochi didn't like the idea of his power being absorbed by Saiki.
