Definitely would recommend adding more aquatic life such as filter/bottom feeders in your vivarium. Creatures like shrimp, oysters, and snails that’ll help keep the waters clean. Tho if you do that I’d recommend adding more decorations and aquatic plant life, especially grasses, to make the animals feel more comfortable and give them places to graze and hide. If you’re feeling bold enough you could even add a predator to your waters such as a crayfish, but that’s up to you as it might compete with your salamanders if they ever decide to enter the water.

This is just awesome. I mean many of the small animals usually are not that intereting as such. If i want to see a pillbug, i just go outside and lift a stone in the garden. But seeing you trying to achieve balance in a semi closed system is bloody fascinating! Because here you really see the cooperation of all the different species of bugs and critters that run mother nature. Everyone knows what happens with food that you just leave outside. But you managed to make it interesting. Great video, keep it up!

    I have a few questions.
    1) Did you have the whole terarium made out of glass or did you have mesh anywhere?
    2) How did you keep the bugs in if you had to open the terarium for the camera?
    3) What lights do you use? Just normal led lights so you can see or UVB lights?
    4) How big actually is the terarium?
5)Do you have the terarium inside of your house or outside? If inside in what room?
Those are all for now. I hope you'll answer. It would really help me build my own. Thank you, amazing video!

I feel like you should make a 24/7 stream for this terrarium. Have three cameras that up around it so people can switch around from The aquatic waterfall area to side Glass view to see below the substrate in the dirt and then above over the terrestrial area

I like the “Jartopia” channel style where there is no talking and he actually just shows the different species in his terrariums with the name and description.
So we can focus on the wildlife and not a loud narrator.

Do you not worry about the scorpion and toad or salamander fighting? Even defensively?

    • @nordicants6232

I worried about the toad and slowworm simce the toad could mistake it for a worm. For the Scorpion there is always a chance but they are super scared and hide really well so not that worried :D

man this is so cool, im just a new viewer but im already astonished by the quality of the video.
its funny too, recently i found a caterpillar in my garden next to my tools, took it in and found out its an Admiral Butterfly.
Im living in the grey zome between urban and rural Ireland, but i let my garden grow wild sometimes, which meant it attracted a ton of species that normally would t be present in the urban area😁

As long as a species has an abundant supply of food, they shouldn't have any need to fight. And I think it's safe to say that you are doing it right.

    • @nordicants6232

Oh thank you! Crucially though for ants is if you provide them with abundance, they will grow into massive unsistainable colonies! Therefore you should simply aim to give them enough ;)
