- In this video I show you 2 different methods of how to catch coyotes that are scared of or not committing to dirt hole sets. This has helped me catch more coyotes each year. I hope you enjoy it and learn something in the process. Thanks for watching!!
Very nice sets !
I had poly fill being pulled up out of the set and exposed without firing the trap, I did a reset with better top soil and caught what I believe was defeating my sets.
It was a very nice bobcat, he evidently was hooking the poly fill with his claws and pulling it up and out from under the pan !
He was a slick operator !
It always amazes me how critters can get the poly out from under the pan without setting the trap off!! But it does get aggravating sometimes haha
Bobcats can also reach over
and hook chunk baits from a
dirt hole
That will really help me this coming season! Thank you for sharing my friend!
Another great video! I’m gonna try this method.. hopefully I’ll get one or two that’s been getting my chickens
Good video young man. Do a video on how to make the milk crate carrier for the coyotes
More great teaching Professor! Thanks man!
Thank you!!!
Bro, what's your name? Don't think I ever caught it on your videos.
Isaac
Chain on the DP is long. Does it have a shock spring?
Yes it does. It has to by law
What traps do you use?
MB 550 and Duke 550.

Here’s the video!
Tried the blind set on my lil gray that I have hundreds of piks of and he did the same thing. Stayed just out of range. He’s got X-ray vision or a built in metal detector 😂. Gonna try that triple hole set. With it being as warm as it is, should I go to some sweeter smelling stuff?
I would use the EXACT bait/lure combo that he’s already interested in. On top of that, I would set another trap 2ft directly behind the set that he’s already somewhat working. This is called a “back door” trap
Probably been educated at
a bad set elsewhere
Hell yeah.
Maybe I’m ignorant. But what’s the purpose of trapping them?
First off, they have no other predators other than humans. The only thing that barely controls their population is disease and starvation. Second, to protect the wildlife that us outdoorsmen love to hunt and eat. Thirdly, to protect livestock and pets from becoming free and easy meals for coyotes.
How can I make this set in the middle of woods
Crumble up some dry leaves!!! It works the same way!
@@CarolinaCoyote OK thank you Good Luck with all of this Rain for the next few days
Am I doing something wrong..?…I have had my pan partially exposed but the trap not set off. This has happened several times.
Did you wax your traps? Did you catch an animal in that trap somewhere else and then move the trap to a new location? Are you using pollyfill under the pan?
@@CarolinaCoyote Yes waxed them, yes poly fill, no haven’t caught anything in the trap in question then moved it.
@@CarolinaCoyote What do you do with traps after a catch?
Sounds like a grey fox. I’m really starting to think that the grey fox can smell the pollyfill. When you reset it, do it the exact same way you have been. Then go about 1-2 feet directly behind that trap and put another trap in the ground. Do NOT put pollyfill in this trap. Bed it solid, lightly sift over it and see if that’ll catch him. If you have any peat moss, put that under the trap pan that’s set in the back. This is called a “back door” trap. Sometimes it is needed when dealing with aggravating foxes. Hope this helps!!!
Leave in that catch circle. If you stop catching in that area, I pull the trap and then re-wax before setting somewhere else. Not everybody does this, but I do.
