Ive trapped 48 years. Hes kinda crude with his set, but as he said, its a beginners video , i wish I had the media to watch when i was learning to trap coyotes in 1978!!
As always great video. I thought hunting trapping ended 28 Feb but Daniel stated MDC extended to April for land owners? I will need to research that because tomorrow is coming too soon.
interesting the new study of coyotes and how you actually invite more juvenile dogs into your area by removing the dominate ones in your area. Mother nature always knows best.
Don't look for a price increase anytime soon. Fur is worth nothing here. I do what I do for the benefit of the small game and game birds and fawns. That's reason enough right there
I am a trapper but I could never put a trap in the middle of a road or path because deer always walk these paths, just like predators, and the deer will trip the trap and pull out of it. I have to put my traps off the path and then put branches 180 degrees around the trap so deer don’t go near the traps.
I have a legitimate question boys. We have a red fox problem on our piece. Turkey's have basically disappeared. I had a good buddy come over and try and take some yotes out. He actually called in 7 different red fox from acouple different spots. Could you expand on this situation. I'm located in western New York near the PA border. THANKS
Yes indeed I use leather gloves to make coyote sets and than I use kneeling pads when making a coyote set and when I got the trap completely covered I punch a hole in the ground behind my trap and then I take my gloves off before I bait the set
I know I’m late to the video but I’m just starting trapping and I’m worried about getting scent on my stuff. I’ve bumped my traps a couple times with my arm and people say that they won’t work now with the scent. Is this true?
I don't know where this idea came from or who started it. A FLAT set DOES NOT HAVE A HOLE OR HOLES!! That by default makes it a dirt hole! For the record. I've been a trapper for 50 years. I didn't get into it to manage my deer lease. I got into because I love trapping. Flat sets are just that FLAT! A backing with lure, bait, urine or any combination there of and a trap bed. That's it, no holes!
Evan is an awesome trapper! He has been trapping my property for 3 years and has taken tons of critters off.
Evan is a very skilled trapper and will be teaching about trapping at the GrowingDeer Field Event June 9th and 10th!
Yes!! Can’t wait to see more trapping to help turkey’s and deer and other species

During this time of year I use coyote gland lures

In most states, it's legal to trap or hunt coyotes for extended periods.
How do you remove skunks from your live traps?
Just like a Raccoon except dispatch it with a shot behind the shoulder with a solid point.
Good video
The raccoon hides need to go up in price. They're not hardly bringing anything. Great tips on the trapping, men!

That's reason enough right
there
@@maxpinson5002 You're probably right. Do you eat the meat?
Fur buyers are not buying coyotes at all this year. At least coon will bring a dollar.

Sounds like you have a great squirrel habitat!!
The only question i have is; what if you caught a badger dozer?
Niccce
For warning- don’t use the same gloves for your scent and to bed the trap!

I caught a big male coyote the other day and I couldn’t barely pick him up he was heavy
Can't forget the "lew-er" lol

No! Most coyote smell human scent daily.
👍
