He has always been an artist that makes songs that make people think. All the greatist hits really paint pictures in your head as you listen. His voice has gone these days, but I still think he can still sing. He is making some great music these days.
It gives tear to my eyes every time I dive into.Dylans masterpieces. I love you Bob Dylam from thousands of miles away from you from a country you once sang for in 1971 at MSG. Love from Bangladesh.
Bob, I loved U from the 1960's, 0h, what a 'gift' from God U are. I loved U in the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's all the way up til now, 2013... U cannot stop mesmerising me. It is not possible..Oh how I love to hear you sing. Your voice is victorious! I have loved watching U grow right before my eyes, and here u are at 72 !! and still the 'touched' man U have always been to me. Dylan is a household 'word' in my home, passed down to my children. Countless times we have sang your songs together as a family, with friends, and I especially love to sing U myself. What joy U have brought into my heart...I truly love U.. Kelti, OKC
Bob, I have seen many of your concerts in my day and it is my dying wish to see you standing at my front door...I will never forget Ft. Collins, you leaned down and just smiled straight at me. haaaaaaa....
When Bob Dylan started performing I don't really think he'd be honoured like this. He doesn't play to be honoured. He plays to play. And that's what music is all about.
If I ever was to get on a stage and in front of a podium to say or give a speech about Bob Dylan's career and his talent, it would be very, very brief. Just a simple "Wow". Anybody that knows anything about music, poetry and art would completely understand.
So fortunate to see him last year at the Saenger in New Orleans last year. Always, a lightening rod of creativity to provoke thought and enjoy this small time allotted to us in this realm.
Dylan's great contribution to rock/pop was that lyrically he opened up the subject matter. Pre-Dylan, pop songs only dealt with pubescent love or sometimes they'd really go way out there & sing about cars. Post-Dylan, anything & everything was up for grabs.
this is the highest honor any music artist could ever receive this was in 1997 , bob dylan is the greatest song writer of the 20th century , brain wilson might be 2nd or maybe lennon or mccartney or perhaps jimmy page
well deserved award and more. Bob has been the voice of our collective conscience. He's the ruler of this planet...:-) Yeah, he's modest and does get embarrased !
I'm still jealous of suze rotolo...lol! Dylan trying to salute Gregory peck in such a cute and humble way is why I love him so much. fyi... there are some ultra-cool bob Dylan shirts at etsy
He never liked to be famous. And he didn't know this when he was young. Yes, his words are poetry and his music is straight and goes deep in our hearts. Everybody knows him. If he just wanted to get famous, he never would have wrote this songs. But it's his fault. You can't expect to be famous and nobody knows you. It's a kind of tragedy. Dylan fought a lot with thtat. But the gift, that he gave us, he cannot undo. Sorry, Bob.
You're right but I said pop songs, not folk songs. Dylan was the first artist to take a folk sensibility (i.e. protest songs, social issues, politics) & crossover successfully with it to rock/pop.
@werobanks You've never seen the Kennedy Center Honors before? What's hanging around his neck is the special award that he received from the President. All the honorees wear them.
1st tune is "Man in the long Black Coat" from his 1989 album Oh Mercy. 2nd piece with the blusey harmonica i'm not too sure about. It might not even be him.
I feel so sorry for him.. Imagen 1000 people standing and applauding for you and knowing that a billion people see you as some kind of messiah, while all you've ever done is fulfilling your passion. It is too much for a man to bare, i completely understand his awkwardness here
Right when the video tribute ends, and you see a long shot of him in the balcony, doesn't it look as if he's whiping away tears? I think he was very moved. Uncomfortable, but moved.
Very powerful, thanks much. It brought tears to my eyes 4 so many reasons, cause: I have always loved Dylan's music and Brownsville Girl is one of my faves, Gregory Peck is gone, Dylan with the Clintons, Sam Waterson in the crowd, etc. It makes it all to clear that in the age of Bush none of that Clinton era enlightenment is here.
Bob Dylan is more nonchalant than anybody and he looks as if he probably did not want to be there and could be doing something else! LOL Bob we love you so much, you deserve all these awards and honors, whether you like it or not we're going to keep on showing you how much we love you and your just going to have to deal with it dammit LMAO. :)
there's even a bob Dylan light switch cover...it looks pretty damn good actually.....and there's 'record bowl'.......it's an old vinyl Dylan record turned into a salsa bowl.....lol! They got some crazy cool stuff on that site. And yes I agree with you......totally jealous of that sara chick....lol. Have you heard the joan baez cover?
It's funny how it's so obvious who he respects... this is exactly the kind of thing that makes him cringe, but clearly he respects Gregory Peck, so he's putting up with it.
Dylan's discomfiture is linked to his innate shyness, which goes back to his incredulity at landing on this planet. Sometimes the shyness is mistaken for aloofness or even snobbery (Groom's Still Waiting at the Altar). Here (looking down from above and therefore choosing to look up!) he can't get out of it and takes the medicine.
No one will match the power of Dylan's incredible catolog of masterpieces
Wrong. You don’t understand how history works.
Happy Birthday BOB DYLAN. Greatest artist ever. ❤🇺🇲
Greatest American songwriter ever.
I have loved him forever. His looks, his voice, his music...I am not alone. Everyone who loves Dylan thinks he/she owns him a little.
How true
This is incredible. I saw this on TV way back when and I cried and the tears are flowing now.
He has always been an artist that makes songs that make people think. All the greatist hits really paint pictures in your head as you listen. His voice has gone these days, but I still think he can still sing. He is making some great music these days.

I've commented on this video before but I'm doing it again. It just amazes me how much influence one man can have upon the world.
Dylan = Infinity
No matter how hard other singers try or how many they become , they can never be even close to Dylan !
Dylan=infinity. Powerful
Wow, getting honoured by Gregory Peck is really something. 2 of my heroes, dylan & peck x
I love you Bobby.....my beautiful poet. So humble and never part of the game.
When Bob Dylan started performing I don't really think he'd be honoured like this.
He doesn't play to be honoured. He plays to play. And that's what music is all about.

He seems so humble about his fame…embarrassed by the attention and applause. I love Dylan!
Yeah Bob is so uncomfortable but everything Peck says is true. Great video of two great men.
This was the best class of honorees: Dylan, Bacall, Heston, Norman, and Villela. A true collection of American artistic geniuses.
An original genius, the brightest light in the rock era.
So fortunate to see him last year at the Saenger in New Orleans last year. Always, a lightening rod of creativity to provoke thought and enjoy this small time allotted to us in this realm.
Nobel or no nobel...Zimmy remains our Age's 'Shakespeare in the alley'. Incomparable, with talent that is immeasurable. In Bob We Trust.
The 1997 Kennedy Center Honors was the best ever. Dylan and Bacall OMG !!!
Dylan's great contribution to rock/pop was that lyrically he opened up the subject matter. Pre-Dylan, pop songs only dealt with pubescent love or sometimes they'd really go way out there & sing about cars. Post-Dylan, anything & everything was up for grabs.
Brownsville Girl is the best song in the whole world and Gregory Peck is the man! What a perfect way to introduce Bob Dylan.
Bob Dylan is one for the ages.
Voice of my generation
Amazing! Excellent! Long live Bob! If you have any other Kennedy Center Honors broadcasts, please, please, please upload them!
We wont see the likes of Dylan again . Thank God he is still creating . The greatest song writer of my lifetime ..hands down .
baler johnson not just ur lifetime but ever
Greetings and thanks so much for this vid!
It was such a joy to watch :)
this is the highest honor any music artist could ever receive this was in 1997 , bob dylan is the greatest song writer of the 20th century , brain wilson might be 2nd or maybe lennon or mccartney or perhaps jimmy page
Not Jimmy Page nor John Lennon ( a troubled Soul) nor Paul McCartney.
4:30 is "She Belongs To Me" and 6:14 is "Most of the Time"...two of my absolute favorites! Enjoy the Dylan!
well deserved award and more. Bob has been the voice of our collective conscience. He's the ruler of this planet...:-) Yeah, he's modest and does get embarrased !
i dreamed i saw woody guthrie last night
as alive as you or me
he said "i'm still looking for the revolution
and all i see is celebrity."
I'm still jealous of suze rotolo...lol! Dylan trying to salute Gregory peck in such a cute and humble way is why I love him so much. fyi... there are some ultra-cool bob Dylan shirts at etsy
I can't help but wonder if Dylan is sitting there thinking to himself "they still just don't get it".
there is not a single person living in america who has not been influenced by bob dylan wheather they know it or not
what song is the first song they play when they start to show the videodocumentary? Does anyone know?
I love Bob Dylan. We share the same birthday.
Bob Dylan's voice reaches just as high ANd it will linger just as long
DEAR GOD,WHY NO CLOSED CAPTIONS!???
Dylan is number one 🏴👍🕶️🎶😄
why this not in HD
do you have a jessye norman and lauren bacall kennedy center honor? the honoree is the same year of bob dylan
What's the first song on the tribute video?
He never liked to be famous. And he didn't know this when he was young. Yes, his words are poetry and his music is straight and goes deep in our hearts. Everybody knows him. If he just wanted to get famous, he never would have wrote this songs.
But it's his fault. You can't expect to be famous and nobody knows you. It's a kind of tragedy. Dylan fought a lot with thtat.
But the gift, that he gave us, he cannot undo. Sorry, Bob.
He so well deserves it, now he has a gong and Pullizer Prize too. a cute modest hero!
i would kill for this on dvd
You're right but I said pop songs, not folk songs. Dylan was the first artist to take a folk sensibility (i.e. protest songs, social issues, politics) & crossover successfully with it to rock/pop.
a tour de force, bless this man
@werobanks You've never seen the Kennedy Center Honors before? What's hanging around his neck is the special award that he received from the President. All the honorees wear them.
I think it touched Dylan a bit that Peck said those words.
Anyone know the names of the first 2 tunes playing when the review of Dylan's career plays?
1st tune is "Man in the long Black Coat" from his 1989 album Oh Mercy. 2nd piece with the blusey harmonica i'm not too sure about. It might not even be him.
bob is god!!!! will be the biggest musical influence ever.. never surpassed...dylan forever..
Does anyone know which songs were performed?
About Time thanks Bob you have given so much meaning to our lives
I feel so sorry for him.. Imagen 1000 people standing and applauding for you and knowing that a billion people see you as some kind of messiah, while all you've ever done is fulfilling your passion. It is too much for a man to bare, i completely understand his awkwardness here
he's pulled into it without any control, too much for even the bob
What year is that?
in lieu of having Lincoln induct him Gregory peck was the perfect choice. fantastic.
dylan must be the most amazing man ever
Congrats Bob! Keep the songs coming!
Right when the video tribute ends, and you see a long shot of him in the balcony, doesn't it look as if he's whiping away tears? I think he was very moved. Uncomfortable, but moved.
even this does not come close to what that man has done
just AWESOME!
Thx
"Man in the long black coat", from the record "Oh Mercy".
And it keeps getting worse...
Greatest artist ever. ❤🇺🇲
Bob looks a bit embarrassed and awkward. i guess he will never really know how important he is.
Well, there was this movie I seen one time
About a man riding ’cross the desert and it starred Gregory Peck
We love love love love love.....you Bobby
Who else performed in honour of Bob? I know Springsteen performed Times they are a changing...who else?
President Kennedy calling me up
what do we need to make the country grow
Anita Ekberg, Brigitte Bardot, Hillary Clinton
bill looked a little stiff sitting next to bob. "i'm not worthy!"
awesome video
there's even a bob Dylan light switch cover...it looks pretty damn good actually.....and there's 'record bowl'.......it's an old vinyl Dylan record turned into a salsa bowl.....lol! They got some crazy cool stuff on that site. And yes I agree with you......totally jealous of that sara chick....lol. Have you heard the joan baez cover?

@Rossonero072213 i know bruce springsteen performed the times they are a changing and shirley cesar performed you gotta serve somebody
2/3 oh those people haven't one single lp of dylan ..
That was lovely, but it must've been so awkward for him!
To the naysayers if you don't get Dylan then you simply not where it's at🤫
if that's so, let me do you a favor and tell you to check out his bootlegs. i envy what you will be able to discover!
It's funny how it's so obvious who he respects... this is exactly the kind of thing that makes him cringe, but clearly he respects Gregory Peck, so he's putting up with it.
Wow, what an awesome video.
bob dylan ,esse é pra poucos ,só pra quem tem cultura ..ass:tinho dylan br
Indeed...
well put.
Dylan's discomfiture is linked to his innate shyness, which goes back to his incredulity at landing on this planet. Molto interessante ! Raffaele Italy
he looks soooo uneasy! i still dont think he realises how much he means to alot of people.
Rock on, Bobster!
haha he's sooo uncomfortable with this
Actually, I don't believe that Mr. Peck bought Knocked out Loaded.
I was in my glory that night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who's the lucky chick who smeared lipstick on his cheek? the video got blurry at this point
The old dog charming the pants of lauren bacall. Nice one Bob.
