    Commercial audio systems use different connections than the ones we use for our home audio systems. Sometimes, it will be necessary to modify existing cables in order to connect to your commercial amp. Our expert lays out this straightforward process in this video.

    Thanks to Rob and Crutchfield for this video. Using this information I was able to do a quick replacement of a faulty AMP on a paging system. The one thing I want to add is if for the media doesn't play afterwards, remove the earth ground jumper. Removing this jumper resolved the issue of no audio. Thanks again, much appreciated.

    This is awesome, I actually purchased the AtlasID Y-sum cables from you guys and it didn't work - so as a last ditch effort and made my own and they worked perfectly! Thank you.

    Helpful! Thank you! Question: Is it the same wiring/jumper if the Phoenix connector is an output from the pro mixer?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 года назад +1

      If its a source output (guessing so since its a pro mixer), this wiring process to get the necessary wires will be the same. The wiring layout within the Phoenix connector can vary between products so you will need to check the manual for your pro mixer for that information.

      @@crutchfield right on. It's the same (+ - G) as the one used in the video.

    Can you just connect the right and left positive conductors of the RCA cable to the positive pin on the phoenix connector, or is there something special going on inside the Y adapter that combines the right and left signals appropriately?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 года назад

      You would use the the YSUM cable to combine an unbalanced stereo signal into a mono signal that you can plug into a mono mic/line input.

    All of our commercially installed rca cables are not using a y sum cable but simply the left audio channel is plugged into the ground and the right audio channel is plugged into the negative input, while both positive outputs are going into the positive input on the phoenix connector. Is this what is causing the buzz on our audio system!?

    Question! I want to capture the signal coming to a speaker off an amplifier that uses these Phoenix-style connectors. I get a nice clean signal by using this technique (stripping an RCA cable) and attaching it on the end of a 100ft line meant for a small speaker in the back of a church. But the signal is very very strong. Had to turn my gain to 0.1 on the H4n. I've only tested the sound with an H4n device that I assume is safe from getting fried from powered signals. Would this still be safe to plug straight into a computer? or do I need to ground the wire at the other end before it goes into my microphone jack on a laptop or desktop?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 года назад +1

      I do not expect the computer's inputs will take a signal that is strong enough to run any size speaker. Something will need to be done to reduce the signal strength. I recommend contacting one of our commercial audio advisors using 1-800-315-2758 to check if we have any gear to make this happen.

    I have a single 3-pin Euroblock/Phoenix Connector output, from a JBL Mixer, and I want to run that output to two different amps (i.e., same signal to two apps to power more speakers with the same audio content). The amps can accept either a Mono Sum RCA cable or a 3-Pin Euroblock. Is it possible for me to daisy chain the Euroblock to achieve this setup?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 года назад +1

      It is possible to feed the same audio into two amps. You can parallel wire the audio cable for each to the same Euroblock terminal. For the RCA ports, Y adapters can be used to split the signal.

      @@crutchfield Thank you. I should have updated my question. I did wind up daisy chaining the single Euroblock out to two Euroblock inputs and it worked like a champ.

    It makes zero sense to me that all these big expensive 70v amplifiers cant just have an rca input. Its like the more you pay the less everything does.

    What If we don't use ground? I'm getting a ground loop with this method, If I skip ground entirely it disappears. Am I ok to skip the ground wiring?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 года назад

      The ground wire should be connected. It is most unusual that this is happening. I recommend consulting a technician to troubleshoot the issue. If you purchase your gear from Crutchfield, you can contact our technical support for help. We send the number on the order invoice.

    How do you connect a phone system into a phoenix connector? Is it done the same way? I have a nortel phone system that has an unbalanced audio out for paging but, most amps have balanced inputs for telephone paging.

    or just use a rca splitter for stereo.

    • @eshara55
      @eshara55 5 лет назад +1

      I'm thinking the same. Couldn't I just put an RCA Y connector on the other end of the first cable he made? Or are they showing to eliminate using an adapter?
