I sooooo enjoyed that series on the 'first department store in England' started by an American ...the blonde actress was so charming & humble. I wonder if Anna or her parents know what the words (in stone) are at the top of the roof? Possibly in Latin? I saw the word 'Terra' which is close to my name 'Tara' & "Ave Maria" (Immaculata ?) Anyway it leads me to think that was definitely a part of a cathedral or monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

@@Motherhubbard170 as a local I can say with confidence that where this beach hut is located (it’s called Hengistbury Head for those who are curious) is incredibly out of the way and not at all practical to get to, even in the height of summer it’s the quietest strip of beach in the BCP area. Still doesn’t justify that price tag tho

Oh my goodness, I can't believe you were here, visiting where I grew up! We used to spend all our summer holidays at Mudeford and had a sailing dinghy. I was born in Southbourne and, Anna, we lived on the beach as teenagers, having beach parties and bar-b-ques - all very innocent in those days.
It was so lovely to see you all come to Dorset (and Hampshire) to visit your lovely parents. Ziggy was having such a good time.
Those gorgeous beach huts are owned by footballers and foreigners from London now, that's why they are stupid money. Don't throw your money down that money-pit, my dear friends, just visit and enjoy for free.

The garden structure you recently built next to your castle looks suspiciously like a Modiford beach hut. A lick of paint, sandbox, wading pool and voila, you've got a beach hut. Fly the Union Jack, serve up some fish-n-chips and there you are.

The story of Highcliff castle reminds me of Hearst Castle here in California - he also brought ceilings(!) from Europe
Some bits of Highcliffe are at Hearst castle. It was sadly left to ruin and much sold off. It's still beautiful, but lots more restoration to be done.

Mr. Selfridge was an American who worked for 25 years in the Marshall Fields department store in Chicago before moving to London to found the Selfridge's department store in London. Both stores catered to the "carriage trade". It is interesting the connection to the house where you were married.

I had a dream that I visited your chateau, but you guys weren't there. I asked the lady who received me at the gate, where is the owner, and she said she was the owner. I asked, Anna & Phillip, and she said "I don't know them, The previous owner is Lilly" (I don't know who's Lilly in my dream), then she showed me inside & the wallpaper Anna designed was all crumbled and everything was frozen in time. windows were broken. The paint was faded in the dining room. I tried to find your channel to show the "owner", how you guys did it all, but for some reason, there was no RUclips on my phone.

Small world I lived in Purewell between Mudeford & Christchurch and was married in Christchurch Priory 44yrs ago and now live in Manche Normandy. As much as I loved Dorset and have family there I couldn’t cope with the traffic…good memories. 😊

After spending the day with two of my young grandsons and dinner with my three children, their spouses and my 4 grandsons, ages 9, 4, 2 and 8 months being a grandparent is the most wonderful time of life. It’s like the icing on the cake of life. Your girls are very lucky to have wonderful grandparents on both sides of the family. This was a wonderful video. Beautiful filming, music, people and smiles. I could just imagine the smell of the sea. So wonderful and nice seeing the joy on your face Anna. The half a million cabin isn’t even oceanfront, it’s back a few rows. Crazy, but people obviously will pay for the opportunity to stay at the beach. xx

Ziggy is a really good dog. I'm picturing taking my pug to the beach and letting him run free. Not happening! He'd plop down on the sand as if to say, "You really expect me to walk on this?? Ewww! Sand on my paws!" Secondly, since he can run like Billy-o with his short little legs, if he did decide to run on the beach he would make it to Dover before he stopped.
Phillip/Philip is the cutest. (I can say that without fear of being called a stalker because I'm retired and verging on being old.)
That castle is fantastic.
And you two (5 counting the girls and Ziggy) look so happy. It seems like you're living your best life.
