- My mom was away for a week, this is what I got up while she was gone and how I managed to stay productive and keep my ducks in a row.

Granola Bars:
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup honey
1/3 cup butter
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups oats (quick)
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup Sunflower seeds
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup wheat germ- oat bran if GF
3/4 Cup Chocolate chips
Press into pan and bake 350 for 20-25 mins or until golden brown
Notes:
I added extra slivered almonds and pumpkin seeds.
didn't add any oat bran or wheat germ at all and it worked great.
this is the original recipe but as we all know I like to add my own twists to the recipes I create, this is in case you want to try both options.

Giselle, what a surprise another vlog. After the last few days this is what I really needed. This vlog uplifted me and made me feel better. The sourdough bread looks so delicious and so yummy. 😂 at first I thought you were making food for the wild birds. Every November, my daughter and I make peanut butter suet and seed balls for the birds as well as strings of dried apple and orange slice strings tied throughout our little backyard. Tradition is the key 😊

Giselle, I am a Mennonite we don't do Christmas at all. My dad who is a Mennonite and married my mom who is English and being raised half Mennonite and half English. My parents can come up with a way to do Christmas they come up with 25 days of Christmas gifts when we get a gift every day starting with a gift card then we get the big gift on Christmas day we do have Christmas dinner when we roast a wild goose or wild duck. My husband is Amish. Amish have Christmas in February they don't do Christmas in December it's raining for four kids under mennonite ways and under the Amish way of life.
Loving Eicher (Amish woman who writes a weekly column) celebrates Christmas on 12/25, but observes Epiphany which is in January.

I really like that that hymn at the end Gisele, it's really inspiring.
Lovely that you are going to do a week in your life,only do what fits in nicely with you though, it's so easy to get burnt out and especially at this time of the year with everything you have to juggle etc.
Can I ask if you have a specific cookbook for all your gluten free etc recipes or are they family ones passed down and so on,the reason I ask is that I've become gluten & dairy intolerant and I can't find a good bread recipe at all and the shop bread isn't great at all.
Would be great if you had a book that is purchasable.

unfortunately we don't yet have a gluten free cookbook I just gather mine from pinterst, and I have yet to find a good bread recipe I have tried quite a few and well they are not good.

You could literally run your own bakery but thank the good Lord you dont have to worry about something like that what with the cost and all the stress that goes into that kind of thing. There’s a beautiful choral version of Numbers 6:24-26 that my high school choir sang as the last song of class every lesson, it was also the song we ended every concert with and we would invite former students to come up on stage and sing with us. Lovely but sad memories of that song, especially as the high school closed the year I graduated.
I love that, I love when at the end or at the beginning of concerts/days we sing a song together, sighhh it just makes my heart soooo happy 🙂

well we don't, if we don't get married we stay with our parents, which as parents get older and need help is nice :)

Does your community allow entering into a relationship with a person from outside your community (not a Hutterite). Do you allow people to join your community if they are not of Hutterite origin?
people have joined yes, and if someone were to be in a relationship with someone form the outside then either that person joins or the other leaves the colony.

Giselle, that sour dough bread looks tasty, cut it open so we can see the inside. I do some baking too, and I do include a spoonful of caraway seeds during the preparation before baking. Try it, makes the bread taste twice as good. Numbers 6 mentions the Name of GOD a number of times in my Bibles. In verse 27 of chapter 6 it says : “and they must place my name upon the people of Israel, that I may bless them." God and Lord is not a name, it's a title, So what is God's name ? J H W H, or in English, Jehovah and in German, Ye ho vah. Giselle, the bible is a valuable book when translated correctly. Happy reading, regards from your friend DOUG.
