This was my first concert! 16yrs young. I didn't know what to expect and I was utterly overwhelmed. I had never even been to a smaller venue to see any show up until then. What a night! My dad drove us in and stayed in his car in the parking lot until after the show for the ride home back to Long Island. The only other show that I can say lived up to this one was Pink Floyd at Roosevelt Stadium N.J. doing Dark Side of the Moon. Another fantastic memory. I wish I saved all those ticket stubs :-(
saw Pink Floyd at the Capital Center, Landover, Maryland in 1973, light show an smoke an listening to Big Gig in the Sky just awesome, Iam 60 now an seen many a concert that an Wings Over America, which used the same light an smoke show in 1976 were the best, it was torn down many years ago.
Steven Alexander It was begining of summer I drove from Richmond,Virginia an it was hot, no A/C an we all had long hair an smoked weed all the way up it was probably there next show, I wish I knew where time has gone , my oldest saw the Beatles in 1965 at Washington Municiple Statium, $7.50 ticket an she still got the ticket stub an program she went up on church bus with 28 other teens they played for half hour an she could not hear nothing
...can't count how many an EPIC house party back in high school had this song playing (on vinyl) as it's sound track! Playing this is as close to a Time Machine to go back to a certain place & time as I know of...
.....stavo un po' di tempo fa in macchina...io la francesca e la jessica della romagna e tony rocchenrolle di torino e chi la ballava e chi la cantava....che bel momento.....Vi bacio a tuttetre....
Three outstanding talents brought together by God. Screwed over by the greedy snake. Then TWO shafted ONE. Two thirds and one third separately can't equate to the GFR of Mark, Don and Mel. Mark knows it. Don may not be able to. I never got to see them in person, but the Grand Funk Live Album was my favorite vinyl double disk. I can still feel the crowd hyping as Mark built up to ALLLLRIGHT!!!! The whole thing is a recording of the music mixed with the audience. Listen to what you can find of it. I never got a copy of Caught In The Act, because I didn't want to dilute my appreciation of Live Album. Seemed like the talk of the time was about how good CITA was. Live albums were coming into the fore. Live Album was a little bit ahead of the curve.
Most people don't know how big these guys were . They were voted the best live rock act in the early 70s , sold out faster than the beatles and could blow the beatles off the stage on a bad day BUT it's all about politics , the brotherhood and goals .... "british invasion"
As a Russian guy (well, I'm of Armenian origin...) I thank the Lord for giving us U-tube, otherwise how could I see that, i.e. something that made me survive back in the 70s in this hole called Soviet Union...
Awesome band, but in my young days I didn't pay a lot of attention to them. I was Led Zep, Deep Purple Steppenwolf Aerosmith etc... I grew into them a bit later. Foot Stompin' Music is a top 5 lead in song for a band that plays all kinds of nostalgic rock.
Dunno if this question has already been answered at the few other RUclips postings of this specific performance of this song....BUT....did the movie of this whole concert ever get fully made?(And then...shown in theatres in the US of A & elsewhere?) Personally,I would rank what I have seen here up there with what was made for those 1973 Led Zeppelin gigs inside NYC's Madison Square Gardens......AND....with what was made at Cream's last gig(s) inside the Royal Albert Hall.....
Wow brother....all I can say is that I envy you.....I am younger than you and never could experience the great ICONIC bands that I listen too so often in concert. However my first concert as a kid was Kiss/ Bob Seger / STYX in 1977 at Sam Houston Coliseum. .....WOW is all I can say...but I Love Grand Funk....sorry the current members are screwing Mark Farner around about royalties these days!!!! Why must it be about the $$$ and not the music
Enochian chess: I have made my move in Syria today for tomorrow by inviting you to make NEWS IN SYRIA TOMORROW..."Captain, my Captain..." "Mother Earth..." Where will it be...in Idlib, ALEPPO, MANJIB, AFRIN, ROJAVA, DARAA? ...Damascus? I see that you fired on the oilfields in N.E Syria today as I suggested last week...GOOD SHOW.
I hadn't listen to this song in years and remains to just that, a great song.
I was lucky to grow up in the golden age of rock. Let the haters hate, but there won't be another time like that soon.
This is my all time favorite song and I think it is one of the greatest songs in rock and roll history. Especially the album version with strings.
One of the most underrated bands of all time. Love GFR
i was there just home from nam, humble pie opened and rocked. GFR blew us away i thought the seats would collapse.
One of my all time favorite songs ever. Thought we would be young forever

That dude tripping at 5:13 looks like P-Nut Kennington from K-Town, S.C. Yeah, that has to be him. Always a wild ass!!!! Way to go due.
Hell yeah Grand Funk Whoo!!
As a Russian guy (well, I'm of Armenian origin...) I thank the Lord for giving us U-tube, otherwise how could I see that, i.e. something that made me survive back in the 70s in this hole called Soviet Union...

This must be where Kid Rock got his inspiration!
This song saved me from the cult I was in.
Wow
Tickets sold out within 1 or 2 weeks...Beatles made it month or more.but they never inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
