  • In couple of my previous videos You can see me loosing a lot of fish with my rod ST. Croix Trout Series 2022 model TFS64LF2 1.7-7g. I been using this rod for all last season and always felt as it is too stiff and not absorbing shakes too well. This season it got even worse, lost most of trout. Having two sessions wherer I was loosing most of my fish, I decided to try and properly test my Brother in law rod ST.Croix Trout Series 2022 TFS60ULF2 1-5g.
    Today I had many takes and had a chance to fight many fish. And easily I can say that this rod is holding trout way much better than my rod but problem is that it doesn't have enough backbone. If I catch something bigger in faster water - very hard to bring fish in, very hard to turn it around.
    I'm not saying I'm right but that is my opinion and I'm looking for a New Rod.

    What a session! Noticed you generally stick to a straight retrieve rather than twitch and jerk. Ps glad them hooks worked out. 💪

      Thanks 👊 yeah, hooks you recommended are brilliant, i think I'll stick with them. I do twitching as well, always trying all type of different techniques but straight retrieve with pulsating rod every turn for me is most successful. In videos I'm showing lucky moments and as you noticed - most of the successful times are on straight retrieve 😁🎣🎣🎣

      IMHO It has nothing to do with the rod. The pound test of the braid, fluorocarbon, and the single barbless hooks you’ve swapped out are more than adequate to land the nice trout you’re hooking. It’s the poor adjustment of the drag! I agree with the others - “tighten up the drag.”

      @ManAndRod  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you for explaining, i will do that upcoming trout season 🤝 do you adjust drag after hooking trout or keeping drag tight all time until netting?

    • @shkdkdbdmsn
      @shkdkdbdmsn 23 дня назад +1

      Depends what lb line hes using, hes fighting the fish against the current so if his drag is too tight he could snap off

    Damn dude, tighten your damn drag up. Your reeling no line in but, just keep on cranking lmao. I guess anyone can have a utube channel.

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад +6

      Drag was tighten enough for this rod. This rod can't take too much, at least that's how i feel. Felt like rod is stressing enough, that's why didn't tighten more. Plus this trout was very lively and with strong current helping - even more powerful.
      And you are guessing right - enyone can have youtube channel 😅 I never said I'm guru or any type of professional, i just have my hobby and i like to share my adventures and keep my adventure memories in one place.
      If you are so good and have a lot of to share and teach, you should consider to do youtube too 👊🎣🎣🎣

    One question, that big lures (I mean 55cm 5grams), are not problem for that rod?😁

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад +1

      Thanks 👊😁 5g is good, no problem at all. Wouldn't use any heavier but with 5g no struggle at all 👍🎣

      Hii, what is the size of the hook (new hook)?🫠

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад +1

      Hi 🤝 i couldn't get size 6 so i bought size 5. They are slightly too big - few times they crossed, but only few times. Perfectly would be size 6

    • @stefannikolic5974
      @stefannikolic5974 Год назад +1

      would size 8. be small?

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад +1

      Shouldn't be too bad but little bit too small. Will be harder to get hoohset as hooks will be small in proportion to lure size. Size 8 is for lures smaller than 5cm

    What's the best approach with trout and drag? Great video, brother.

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад +1

      Hi bro 🤝
      I tried many different settings on drag but didn't found sweet spot yet. In my opinion drag should be set depending on rod. If your rod is soft then you can tighten drag more as rod will absorb shakes better and will compensate drag. If your rod is stiff, then better very light drag as drag will compensate rod stiffness.

    • @ManAndRod
      @ManAndRod  Год назад

      Hello 🤝 Thanks for joining 😁🎣
      Lure colour is very individual choice. For me - if i like the colour then i believe in it and i expect trout to like it too 😅 But being bit more serious - natural colours for me works the best, i don't have many bright colourful lures. Mainly white-ish lures with some darker tops and maybe some darker stripes or dots on sides. Could be a bit red or orange on belly but white belly is the best for me. And white ish lures for me are working in any conditions - rainy, sunny or cloudy weather. You don't need too many lures in beginning as it could be confusing which to use. Get familiar with your 3 or 4 lures and later you can buy more colours and different brands. Rapala Countdown Elite is amazing lure, casting far and accurate, cutting through wind easily and it is easy to find where to buy.
      Hope it will help at least a bit 🤝😁🎣🎣🎣
