    If houses were built like cars, you would have to remove the doors and carpet, just to replace a light bulb.

    I wonder if Ford can design their vehicles to make this task more difficult

      Ha yeah, These smaller Ecoboost engines can be a chore to work on sometimes.

    Is there a difference between a starter and a starter motor?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  2 года назад +2

      Hey CR, typically they are synonymous for the same thing. The starter consists of two major components, the motor and the solenoid. In the past on some cars the motor and solenoid were separate and could be changed one or the other. Now most cars have the motor and solenoid as one unit and they must be changed together. Whether you call it a starter motor or just a starter most mechanics will be picturing the same part so either name works.

    Great video! I wonder why this needed replacing with only 60,000 miles. I put 205,000 miles on my 2013 Escape 2.0, using it for years at 5-10 stops per day, being in sales. Guess I should replace it now??

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  2 года назад +1

      Hey Jeffro, it's hard to predict the life of a starter motor. Typically they last a long time. I'd say if yours isn't giving you any signs that it's pooping out I wouldn't worry about it. Now that I say that it will probably die on you next week lol. I would stay away from remanufactured starters and you can get the OEM from rockauto.com. that's where this one came from.

      Yeah 63,000 on mine and I've gotta replace it😡 nothing's built to last at all anymore, and then they make it super difficult to do yourself

    2013 Ford escape 2.6 Battery will not stay charged,Possible starter issue draining battery????

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  5 месяцев назад

      The starter only gets power once the relay is activated. It has no ability to draw from the battery when the ignition is off. The easiest way to check if the relay is staying partially activated is to pull the starter relay and leave it out. If the drain goes away then I would suspect a bad relay or a fault in the circuit turning on the relay. If the drain remains then I would look elsewhere for the problem.

    Would a bad starter cause a “starting system fault” error message?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  2 года назад

      Yes, it most definitely can. It's still a good idea to confirm it's the starter and not something else in the starting system. This is a mediocre video of how to diagnose the starter. ruclips.net/video/kV6P1vpa_ls/видео.html

    What size was the bolt?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  2 года назад

      The main bolts are 13mm. The big power wire is 13mm and the small wire is 10mm.

      What about the actual bolt mount dimensions? Some how the bolts on ny starter popped off.

    Totally wrong way . My one is 2013 1.6l but starter in different place. I open everything as per your video then I mad because the starter was not that place.

      Well.... Every other escape of this generation has the starter where he said it is.....1.6 and 2.0
