Excellent work Basehunters. I was traveling west on I-70 on May 27 at around 4pm. I was about half way between Hays and Colby and maybe 25 miles north of Dighton when I saw two funnels that look very, very close to the activity at the beginning of this video. Same shape and distance apart from my viewpoint and they dissipated in about a minute as your video shows. I'm thinking if I saw what you folks video taped it was too far over the horizon for me to see the quick touchdown. It's possible I saw the dissipation but not the reformation and within seconds I was on my way doing about 85 hoping to by pass the major part of the storm which I did.
I would love to know the angle you filmed from. Best I can guess, I was looking south or SSW when I saw the funnels. I would appreciate it very much if you could tell me what direction you were facing as you were filming. If it's south or south-southwest I would venture to say that I witnessed the same activity you filmed in the first minute or two of this most excellent video. Thank you for posting it, you guys rock.
